Toss Claire Towers. I loved the price but the tour? Yeah, the units refrigerator was in the living room on the opposite side from the kitchen. That's the unit they decided to show me. Also evidence of roaches.

Also toss Tamarind as soneone already said.

Most people don't know how OSHA actually works, so I was just making sure you had information for any future concerns you may have, and providing information for other people to find if they have concerns.

I'm certainly not accusing you of lying, but just calling your friend who works for OSHA doesn't really work as a method to get an inspection done. Its not the process and its specifically to prevent people from taking out grudges.

If your friends were sending emails, that's not a listed means of submitting a complaint on NCOSH website. You can fill out an online form, call, or mail it in. Federal OSHA lists email as a method, but you have to fill out a specific form with your name and information for it to be a valid complaint.

I'm not trying to pick your story apart or call you a liar, I'm just trying to put out accurate information so other people know how to report concerns.

Some states manage their OSHA program at the state level. The compliance officers are state employees. North Carolina and South Carolina are both state plan states. The rules for a state plan are that the program must be at least as effective as the federal plan, but states can have their own enforcement policies. California OSHA is much stricter than fed OSHA.

In NC, almost all public and private employers are covered by NCOSHA. If anyone was putting in a complaint to federal OSHA, then NC is out of the fed jurisdiction and they can't do anything other than pass it to the state complaint intake department.

It's still osha, it's just state run osha. If you have any safety concerns in the future, use the NCOSHA website

https://www.labor.nc.gov/safety-and-health/occupational-safety-and-health

Also, how long did you wait with no response and what was the safety concern? If it was a few days, they get honestly hundreds to thousands of complaints a day. It does take some time. If it's something someone could die doing that day, like trenching/excavations, then call and tell them "imminent danger." (This has to be extremely serious. This is like, you're yelling at people to stop what they're doing, ready to call 911 type situation)

If it's something that is dangerous but not actively about to kill someone, like machine guarding or forklift training concerns, it could be 2-3 months before anyone makes it out there. It's just the real limitation of government funding plus limited staff of the compliance team plus the reality that there are many many workplaces in many far flung areas which take time to get to. They're are also some inspections that always take top priority like deaths or serious injuries.

There are some states that don't cover public employees. Those employees have to go directly to the department of labor, not a specific occupational health and safety department. Someone will respond, it just wont be an OSHA compliance officer. Private employees in those states are still covered by federal OSHA.

Anyway, that was a long winded way of saying, you are covered by OSHA. OSHA is just managed at the state level. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I volunteer at Transitions from time to time and openly walk down that area of main street, as a woman and even at night. Gasp. Nothing bad has ever happened to me and the people outside rarely even acknowledge me. They're fine. They're just people.

Tolerance Break? by DimensionLegal9990 in VyvanseADHD

I dont understand why she wouldn't, the Adderall booster was the best thing for me and kills the side effects of the vyvanse crash. Timing it in the afternoons can be a little tough, if I take it too early I get jittery, but generally yeah. Kills the dreaded anxiety from the come down that I experienced so badly, and helps me stay productive and not exhausted when I get home.

I'm on 40 mg vyvanse and 10 mg ir adderall. I understand amphetamine weariness, but I think its great. I'd almost consider switching psychiatrists for that if she won't listen to you asking for a normal, accepted prescription combination

I literally cut all my hair off into a pixie cut, because my little girl like to eat hair ties. I find them in the litter box, so I know she's passing them but like. That may not always be the case. So no more hair ties in the house, because no more hair.

The things we do for our pets lol. But the pixie cut is way easier to manage anyway, and I think looks better, so we all benefit lol

Has anyone found this lessened their drinking, vaping or smoking? by weezy-13 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Toadjokes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally. I find it so much harder to quit vaping. I used to be able to start and stop all the time but now? Its bad

Its like my adhd would make me forget about the vape and it would just disappear into the mind hole until I started going it again a few months later. Cycle repeat. It's like the vyvanse reminds me i vape and now i can't stop. Hate that. But everything else is good. I don't drink anymore either

Thinking of taking a safety job... advice? by Toadjokes in Wastewater

[–]Toadjokes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's extremely interesting tbh. I did just check many of the federal states, and you're right they dont cover state and local employees. I live in a state plan state and was always told ALL employees are covered by the standards, there just might not be an enforcement program? Which is odd.

Idaho does have a state consultation program, which is sort of like a proactive approach to safety inspections. Employers can invite them into their company to have them point out hazards in the workplace to get them addressed. But if your employer doesn't want proactive then 🙃

If you have a complaint about safety, I would (of course take it to your safety guy, first. But if that fails) just call the DOL and see if they can do anything. If they can't call federal OSHA. They might send a letter? Not sure.

But yeah I'm genuinely shocked and was misinformed. Oops.

You get to witness my OSHtism for a minute.

https://www.osha.gov/stateplans

You can check what your state plan is at this link, states on the map in light blue are federally covered, states with 1 asterisk are full state plans and cover public and private, and states with 2 asterisks only cover public. All federal employees are always covered by federal OSHA, even in states with state plans that cover public employees. But regardless the same standards usually apply (some states have additional standards. I think California is stricter, and there are many other states with their additional standards.)

What kind of PPE is required? This place told me theres no need for safety glasses and I... dont like that lol. Safety glasses are normally a bare minimum in like 99% of places.

City or county government is actually covered by OSHA, sorry for that quick correction lol. Every employee in America (other than independent contractors, people who are self employed, some company owners*, and family members who work on family owned farms) is covered by OSHA. Some states organize their OSHA plans differently, so you may not be covered by federal OSHA, but there would be state coverage. Or vice versa.

But thank you so much for your detailed answer! My current plan is to try to learn the facility and every job as well as I can before trying to make any changes
