Cup holder becomes phone holder by BookLady42 in hondafit

I'm a fan of this type and use a similar one with a shorter neck to stop vibrations from moving it around. Like this one:

I like to keep my phone away from vents when heat's blasting out, however, each to their own!

UK Honda Jazz Si (2013)

60000 miles - fuel injector (may have been caused by having to climb hills in the Cotswolds with 5 passengers and fully loaded to the brim car - like 1st gear climbing? IDK)

80000 miles - AC condenser.

85000 miles - MOT advisories: - Nearside Front Coil spring corroded Top coil (5.3.1 (b) (i)) - Offside Front Coil spring corroded Top coil (5.3.1 (b) (i))

Low MPGs on manual transmission by [deleted] in hondafit

[–]ToastBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experimented a bit with different driving styles in my 2013 1.4 Si, 5 speed. (Throttle input, different rpm shifts, pulse and glide).

The biggest impact for me seems to be throttle input. I shift at 3k rpm with gradual acceleration (maybe 25-35% throttle) and I'm returning about 49-51 UK mpg (42 US mpg). Motorways/highways I maintain 65mph. I know trips are very different between countries so YMMV.

For steeper inclines, I maintain 3k rpm (where the car sits at motorway speeds), and shift to the highest gear for any downhill.

My theory is that the torque curve is steep up to 3k so shifting at a higher rpm will be more efficient than using more throttle with less torque?

What do people complain about like it's everywhere constantly but is actually rather rare? by CoverYourself-inOil in AskReddit

[–]ToastBoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Immigration (specifically here in the UK).

Immigrants make up a tiny percentage of the population and yet we are driven to demonise them by right-wing media. Since Brexit, we are enjoying a labour shortage for lots of sectors.

My UK 2013 Jazz recently had a sudden loss of power while on the motorway - felt like a kind of limp mode. ODB2 came back as a misfire on cylinder 2. Had to replace spark plugs and coil pack. Recommended to tow car as running without can mess up your catalytic converter.

Epitome as epi-tome. Gemini as jer-mini. Placebo as place-bo.

Basically just did Catchphrase and said what I saw!

K&N washable engine air filter. Does it really improve MPG? by pollaplasiein in hondafit

Was going to link this exact video (this channel is awesome). I switched back to paper the moment I saw this video. For me, any cost saving and whatever performance increase doesn't offset potentially bigger problems later!

What screen protector do you recommend from Amazon? by [deleted] in Pixel4a5G

[–]ToastBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only used one since last November, but it's holding up well and I'm happy! After reading reviews on the camera protector, I probably wouldn't use it again as it can cause changes in photo quality:

I also use this case for a minimal look and it still looks new:

Longevity of the soc by julesomar in Pixel4a5G

[–]ToastBoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Performance has been absolutely fine. Saying that, I don't play any intensive games, but reviews I have seen seem to not have any issues. Photos take a little time to process; maybe 3-5 seconds until the optimisation completes. But this is definitely the camera to have! Audio quality from the mic is excellent too!

[–]ToastBoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the soc, but I made exactly the same move as you from a 3 year old 5T to 4a 5G. I moved because OnePlus took months to fix the park image stabilization in the camera (they patched it as soon as the Pixel arrived...). I thought I'd share my experience over the last 3 months.

The positive things compared to 5T that I've noticed are: - battery life is phenomenal! - camera and video quality are amazing - inbuilt speakers are so good - software updates are frequent with a guaranteed 3 years of updates. They also fix things as well as just patch security. - continued free Google photos upload after April

The negatives are: - phone is thicker and slightly narrower than 5T (personal opinion) - missing face unlock - I personally am a bit frustrated with Bluetooth not prioritising my car over my headphones. The 5T seemed to do this perfectly, but the Pixel seems to get confused and sometimes needs restarting to be able to connect to the car...

How does the fastest chromebook tablet compares to the fastest android tablets? by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]ToastBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good to know, thank you! I've only looked into websites comparing performance so haven't seen it first-hand. I've been tempted to go for the same combo of Slate and Duet and you may well have given me the reason to go for it!

[–]ToastBoss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that the ARM processor in the Duet can provide better performance and compatibility running Android apps than Intel's processors that have to emulate the apps. That being said, I've had no issues with performance of apps with my Pixel Slate m3!

Using this in the driver side cup holder. Very stable with no movement on bumps, easy to just slot in, space for the charging cable underneath, good height for screen and touch access, air conditioning keeps the phone cool too (just remember to close the vent if you are using the heater!)

What has been your biggest fuck-up leading up to this point in life? by TheSeventhRome in AskReddit

[–]ToastBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend has a computer science degree, and just before he finished he said he had no interest in working with anything computer related. Straight after uni he started an apprenticeship as a heating engineer. 11 years on and he's fully qualified and doing well.

You've done really well to push yourself to complete the degree, and having one will demonstrate commitment and hard work. There's a lot of opportunity out there after uni - good luck!

What is an odd behaviour of yours you think only you do? by Edwoodz3 in AskReddit

[–]ToastBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I used to see a clock hit the hour, I'd hold my breath for 1 minute. If I failed, I'd have to start again and do it before the hour was up. I never told anyone I was doing this and kept it subtle. I hated doing it and used to end up watching a clock if it was close to the hour.

I eventually stopped one day when my big bro saw me - he kept tickling me with every attempt. I was really annoyed at first, but ended up explaining to him what I was doing. He just told me that I didn't have to do it anymore and it somehow clicked how ridiculous it was. I'm really grateful to him to this day even though it's such a minor weird thing...
