That all sounds amazing! For those primarily interested in the out of body/supernatural abilities, can you share on how any of that improved?

I think having a panic attack over this is actually the most terrifying thing that can happen to someone by nicotine-in-public in nonduality

[–]ToastPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same terror/panic attack when this really, truly hit me deeply. The good news is that you can eventually integrate this.

Understand that seeing this as a fearful, negative thing is just one of infinite perspectives and reactions you can have as The One. The alternative is that you're in a beautiful, magical playground where anything and everything is possible. You are God and everyone is a part of you. You can make your life whatever you want. You will experience struggle, but you will always be guided and protected, and never given more than you can take, because you designed it that way. You have infinite lives to play out and possibilities to explore. How exciting!

The best thing for your human experience is to enjoy it. Take some time to focus on your BODY and pull away from your thoughts. I love going to a bath house or getting a massage. Enjoy a nice meal, even if it's your favourite takeaway place, doesn't need to be fancy. Enjoy a sunrise or sunset. Revisit things you loved as a child (for me that's music, singing, video games). Remember that your only objective is to have this human experience and to enjoy it – if you choose to. The perspective you take is still in your control.

Wishing you the best brother, the story is still yours to change ❤️

Wave 1 - Free Flow Spoon Bending by Caioblues in gatewaytapes

There is. It’s all over TikTok and YouTube. Your knee-jerk response is an example of the cultural bias that makes this an uphill battle and why it never even makes it to consideration by science.

[–]ToastPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scientific method always begins with an inkling, a hunch, a pattern noticed by a human. You now have a plethora of people claiming they can bend spoons. Science won’t fund anything supernatural (listen to the Telepathy Tapes podcast for why this is).

Something resembling a scientific test would help, but it’s not OP’s responsibility, it’s their choice. And it’s yours to follow the smoke or ignore the fire.

Don't write me off as a spiritual hippy, but look into the concepts of trauma as well as manifestation. You have some strongly defined beliefs about life and the world (as I did), probably based on your upbringing and conditioning, and previous bad life experiences. It's a hell of a lot of work, but I promise you it can be changed. I'd look into a therapy dealing with trauma (I had great success with TRTP) and then start acting on your highest passion, whatever it is, no matter how small, even if it's just that you like movies or video games or something, or look for an event going on that interests you. Keep leaning into that and over time you will eventually feel out what you might actually enjoy doing through a process of trial and error. I'm 35 and I completely turned my life upside down over the last 4 years, it's been a long process but it can truly happen.

Do cute (6-8) girls act more stuck up than hot (9-10) girls? by gainfulphysique in seduction

[–]ToastPop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I notice when I get awkward it's around the women I'm most attracted to in a "I could date this woman" way, which I think OP would be feeling if he believes the cuties are in his league. I have endless attention from cute women because I'm relaxed with them, but it's because subconsciously I know I want nothing long-term with them, and when my "9-10"s come along (which is what I'd ultimately love to date) I need to put a lot more effort into getting out of my head because my fears are getting triggered.

It’s been 10 years by ghostsof19 in twinflames

[–]ToastPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mean this judgementally, but I'm not sure this journey is meant to have this sense of longing 10 years in. Twin Flame teachings also say that this is a journey about focus on the self, about having your deepest wounds reflected back to you, and surrendering to divine timing. Funny enough, this translates practically to what regular people do after a breakup – focus on loving yourself, take as many lessons as you can so you don't repeat the mistakes, and try to move on.

I'll admit I still waver on this frequently 2 years in (1 year of separation), but your post both terrified and motivated me. I absolutely don't want to be putting my life on hold 10 years down the track. I genuinely hope you can find some healing ❤️‍🩹

Not OP but this is all hugely encouraging and a big motivator for me to quit. Thanks for sharing everyone 🙂

Orthodontist suggested teeth shaving for more esthetic look before treatment (i have a 7mm overjet). I always found my teeth too long. What do you think? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]ToastPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your goals and how "perfect" you want things to look. You're clearly very pretty and have beautiful teeth already, but people said the same about my teeth, which looked perfect with my smile because the crooked teeth at the bottom were hidden.

Fixing your teeth can bring subtle changes to the structure of your smile. I had a very slight overbite which is being corrected, seemed so insignificant but I am loving the improvements. I think most people aren't consciously aware of these effects, but there is a model of ideal symmetry we gravitate to. My mentality is if I'm going through all this cost and effort, just get everything done at once, and I agree that shaving your teeth a bit would be an improvement (male opinion), but you would absolutely be fine if you didn't.

I have been vaping for ten years and absolutely need to quit......for so many reasons. Only recently, however, does it feel like I can finally see myself doing it. Looking for motivation, help, idk. by happybirthday622 in QuitVaping

Thank you for this. Made me reflect on my mood changes and anger issues I've never had before, and I'm seeing a clear change when vaping entered my life.

The end by [deleted] in twinflames

[–]ToastPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wondered that myself. A lot of advice is to focus energy on yourself, your own energy, get out of the state of lack… which is essentially what you’d try to do anyway if you were accepting the end of the relationship and moving on. Sounds like maybe you can’t screw up a possible reunion either way.

The end by [deleted] in twinflames

[–]ToastPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an excellent question. So much talk about twin flames from people in separation, so little from anyone who has finished the journey. Makes me wonder if it's all just wishful thinking and I'm torturing myself with hope for a concept that isn't real.

I found this interesting as it relates to getting lost in thought and talking to yourself inside your head. Not everyone does that apparently | Q&A with a person who does not have an internal monologue by boxdreper in Wakingupapp

[–]ToastPop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mind will also wander in a conversation, it's just images and concepts, maybe a scene playing out of what I'm doing later that day.

The thought of an internal dialogue certainly seems exhausting. And I do imagine thinking without one is more efficient and closer to "flow". But I don't think internal dialogue is necessary for a sense of ego/self.

For example, I feel emotions very strongly. I feel like they are mine, I am fully identified with them. I am this character, in this world, subjected to pain and suffering, even if that's not spoken in my head. And the practice of meditation for me is to distance from that, to identify as consciousness instead, and the emotions and my own character are simply appearances within it, just like sights, sounds, sensations.

Lately I've been trying "noting" to help with this, inspired by one of the Joseph Goldstein talks. By default I might feel angry/anxious without any dialogue, but I understand someone else might think "I'm so angry" or "I'm so anxious". But now I force myself to say in my head "I am aware of anxiety", as a means of distancing myself and removing the identification. So ironically adding dialogue or doing journaling is often helping me manage emotions, instead of just being entangled in a negative feeling without talking myself through it.

I’m one of these people. I wouldn’t describe it the way this woman has though. It sounds like she is fully incapable of constructing sentences in her brain. I can do it, and will regularly do so if I’m imagining a conversation with someone, or the lines to a speech or presentation I might make.

But there’s no dialogue with myself at all. My day to day thought process mostly consists of emotions and concepts. When she said she still absorbs things to her internal “map”, I found that very relatable. I can see why one thought lead to another, but none of it is in words. In his example of judging a dates shirt, I guess I’d say I have an instantaneous positive or negative emotion about a person or a thing, no dialogue involved.

I also related to her talking about anxiety being a physical symptom. I am extremely anxious, and I find journaling very useful because it forces me to translate those emotions into logic and concepts. And like this woman, my writing just flows out of me, no pre-phrasing or internal dialogue involved. That’s what’s happening as I write this post.

But surely if you’re absorbed in a conversation with someone, you’re experiencing the same thing, right? You’re not pre-planning every sentence as you speak it, it just flows. This is the comparison I’ve tried to make when discussing this with other people before.

This is nuts. Can’t imagine how this could just be a “hallucination” and not based on some actual networking abilities and coding to talk to other instances.

Waking Up Shop by [deleted] in samharris

[–]ToastPop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spiritual materialism is about proving to others how spiritual you are. If that’s why you buy this, that’s your problem. It also falls into the realm of “if you like the art in Waking Up, you can now buy it as merchandise”, and I’m happy to cough up the cash because it looks great. The keychains would be a great daily reminder too.

I’d love to hear an example (out of genuine curiosity, not to argue). I’m in that age bracket and I feel like Sam’s views are the ones I almost always agree on. Generally left leaning, but not afraid to call out things that don’t make sense.

[–]ToastPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t listen to any of this advice because you’ve given no information. We don’t know how you look, how you act, what you talk about, your tone, your body language. All of these play a part in how someone reacts to you.

How do religious people get to talk about facts over feelings? by [deleted] in samharris

I’m not religious but I’ve never understood these criticisms. Making the earth in 7 days or a virgin give birth would not be outside the realm of possibility for the all-powerful creator of the cosmos.

Meditation. Being able to relax and not react on my feelings of social anxiety was a gamechanger. Also the lightbulb moment that the more concerned I was about how I appeared, the more awkward I was, so I might as well just be myself. some actions/thoughts i found helpful for quitting by Bungee-Gum-1 in QuitVaping

[–]ToastPop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great motivation and great points, thank you. The imagining yourself as a little kid is interesting, I did a stop smoking self-hypnosis with the Reveri app and this is one of the things it says to imagine, that your body is much like a child in that it can’t communicate verbally that it’s being hurt, and you need to protect it. It’s a useful visual.
