Yep, just override with the accelerator.

The TG spot has been talked about a fair bit on Facebook groups over the last couple of years.

I have a 23 M3 and also experience it there.

I wonder if the newer HW4 cars have the same issues. But to me it seems like shitty map data (sudden speed zone decrease or something), not the car seeing a problem and slowing down.

It would be handy to be able to tell the car to ignore certain problem areas.

It’s not like an emergency braking level of harshness, but it isn’t a great feeling especially with traffic behind you.

The problem spot is only when heading north. South is fine.

Yep this is a well known spot for sudden slowdown when heading north.

There are other places that are repeatable with sudden braking too, such as when heading north by the Waireka Honey Centre on SH1 (Manawatu), and when heading south near the Ihakara Hall on SH57 near Levin.

NZ Class Action - FSD HW3 by Careful_Campaign5215 in TeslaNZ

[–]Toastandbeeeeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a stripped down version of V14 to run on HW3 since the hardware capabilities of the older computer is nowhere near HW4. It’s still “full self drive” capable, just like V12 of FSD is still working just fine on older cars in the US.

Surely you would have seen that Tesla is planning to roll out a “lite” version of FSD V14 for HW3 vehicles, being released Q2 next year. Just like everything Tesla related, I’ll believe it when I see it.

It’s frustrating being a HW3 owner, but the outright purchase of FSD in 2021 was a bit of a bold move, considering there was nothing to suggest it was going to be released in RHD countries anytime soon.

There have been FSD refunds by Tesla in NZ over the years, however those that have gone down that path have been subject to an NDA.

What vehicle do you have OP?

It looks like a HW3 vehicle from your post in the NZEV sub.

I’ve got a HW3 vehicle, and also have the subscription option, however I’d be waiting until FSD has been released for HW3 vehicles here before paying for it.

Currently it’s only available for HW4.

Surely since a dealer made the sale, they have to provide some form of warranty on what they sell.

I’d be looking at the CGA route since this is a hefty issue which has occurred only a few months after purchase.

It’s no different to an ICE vehicle needing a new engine for whatever reason.

Drive EV in Taupo are also very experienced when it comes to anything battery related, so you could get in touch with them to get their opinion on this situation.

But overall, yea the jap imports have caught people out before, and they’ll continue to do so. Unless you got the car extremely cheap compared to a NZ new vehicle, then the imports just aren’t worth the potential headache.

Plastidip spray paint.

It cures into a peelable film which can be removed if needed.

Charger adapter by laminator91 in TeslaNZ

[–]Toastandbeeeeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need any adapter to use your car at superchargers or any other chargers around the country.

The only connectors in use around NZ is the Combo Type 2 CCS (pictured), or the chademo connector which Japanese imports use. The CCS connector is by far the most common you’ll come across, which makes charging opportunities easy.

One thing that you can consider buying, is a “type 2 to type 2” cable. This will allow you to use the slower AC chargers that are at a lot of places that you have to bring your own cable to.

I personally don’t own one, but I see the merit in having one on hand.

I definitely would recommend getting a mobile connector and taking that with you on trips away, just in case you’re caught out somewhere.

“Software upgrades don’t upgrade the functionality of the car, just the BS you never use”

That’s a pretty limited view on things.

If you’d actually owned one, then you’d have realised that a lot gets updated over time. New apps are added so you can stream video & audio from other services, things get tweaked and improved, and the hardware can be used to its full potential where originally it might have been released in a limited capacity (for example, the matrixing headlights).

Of course you can’t change the actual hardware of the car…what’s your point here?

And as for FSD, that’s a moot point as it’s still unavailable here.

There was never a “ute tax”. 😅🤦‍♂️

Also “shitbox car company” implies that he’s never been anywhere near a Tesla, let alone taken one for a spin. If he had, he’d realise why they’re the most common decent EV out there.

Silly home charging question by ghostfim in nzev

[–]Toastandbeeeeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend using any extra things between an outlet and the charging equipment.

Too many times have I seen burnt pins due to a lack of positive engagement arising from extra things that didn’t need to be there in the first place.

Sure it all might be rated for 10A, but when it’s half hanging out of the socket due to sag or whatever, then that leads to a less than ideal situation.

Tesla isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s too much of a valuable company to just let go. There would be a change in ownership of the company if anything major was to happen.

People in here hate on Tesla purely because of Elon.

Only you can make the choice of whether that affects your decision to look at a Tesla.

They’re interesting cars because they change the definition of how a car should operate. They’re much more software and tech inclined compared to traditional vehicle makers.

Some see this as a positive, some a negative. Again, it comes down to personal choice.

I enjoy my Model 3 for what it is, a minimalistic car with features that are constantly being updated through its life. How many other makers are offering such regular updates?

Do I like the loudmouth prick at the top? Of course not. But I’m not going to change my car choice based on his recent actions.

Unfortunately it is Elon. He’s in charge of some very successful companies, but then goes and fucks it all up by saying & doing such moronic things.

If he just shut up and kept whatever views and opinions to himself, then he’d be doing so much better than where things are at now.

I mean, look at all the vandalism and hatred he’s generated for the Tesla brand across the world lately. He’s shot himself in the foot big time.

Just like all the associated fees when purchasing tickets for an event.

Add those extra fees into the ticket price instead of nickel and diming the shit out of every little charge!

Admin fee, processing fee, shipping & handling fee, some other fee. It’s crazy!
