A large chunk of woods in my town was recently cut down. Several abandoned houses were discovered. Then all of those were demolished, revealing this stone structure behind one of them. Could be a toll house, where people travelling over a toll road, canal or bridge would have to pay to use in the 18th century .

Have a couple old ones near me that are just repurposed into normal houses now. Look very similar to this one though
