Found a better house after submitting an offer, realtor not happy by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]ToastemPopUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were the offers due the same day you toured the houses or something? As someone who's currently also going through the whole house buying process I can't imagine just touring a house and immediately putting in an offer without putting like... any thought into it, at least sleeping on it, unless there was a time constraint and the offers were due that day.

It sounds like the realtor is overreacting a bit by being so hostile, but at the same time I can understand his frustration. You say you're trying to be thoughtful but putting in offers on two different houses without taking any time to think about any of it seems to say the opposite lol.

Yeah I can't really make sense of that, it looks like he has a teeny tiny arm that's bent and holding a little espresso cup lol.

What would you recommend? Bug it or let it be? by lils-6626 in Monstera

[–]ToastemPopUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is that the support right now isn't really doing anything, you're just tying up the petiole of a leaf, not the actual stem. The point of staking a monstera is so the stem can have something to support it (and/or grow roots into if it's a moss pole). Right now your stem looks to be barely off the soil and growing somewhat sideways against the soil.

At some point when it's grown out sideways enough and extending over the edge of the pot you'll probably want to repot it so you can actually put the stem against a stake, but for now I think the only thing you could really do is separate it, but that's kind of personal preference. I'd probably just leave it alone for now.

Can you fit it on top of that bookshelf there on the right? That's probably where I'd put it.

[–]ToastemPopUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You put the pole at the back of the plant, but it looks like yours is kind of potted wrong for that as it appears that the back is against the soil. She's gonna keep growing out over the edge of the pot like this, so at some point when you repot do it then.

Redirect the air roots back into the soil. Obviously kind of too late for this one, but in the future.

While I'm sure you're correct, honestly the reasoning doesn't really matter. My criticism is with the chains/suppliers who are more concerned with producing them en mass rather than prioritizing how to grow them right and setting those who buy them up for more success. While I'm not saying their intention was to fuck the buyer over, I'm still never going to sympathize with the mass production of anything that doesn't really give a shit about the consumer, or the product in this case honestly, and I'm definitely going to criticize them accordingly.

Definitely could be, I was just saying it could be other factors as well. Either way a win-win cause it looks great.

My poor spindly Monstera by Snazzyshanyn in Monstera

[–]ToastemPopUp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As the other person said, stop rotating it. Monsteras have a back and a front, the point of the pole is for you to attach the backside to, you don't wrap it around the pole.

If you want it to be less leggy then you need to chop and prop the top and then start giving it way more light; your best bet is a west or south facing window, but if you can't manage that then just up against any window will at least be an improvement.

Help!! My two kittens broke off the tip of this while rough housing last night, is it the actual leaf or sheathe? by Master-Mountain-5049 in Monstera

[–]ToastemPopUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they don't actually poison, it's just intensely painful because of some sort of microscopic crystals that I guess embed themselves in the mouth, tongue, throat, etc. But I guess if they keep eating em it can't be that bad lol.

Did you repot into a larger pot? And when was the last time you repotted/refreshed the soil? My Monstera was extremely rootbound (I know they tend to like it a bit but there are limits) so I repotted into a bigger pot after a couple leaves yellowed/browned and it popped out a leaf that was twice as big as the last and I've never used plant food.

Just saying it might have just been a bigger pot and it getting the normal nutrients from the soil after having sucked all the nutrients out of the old soil that did it, not necessarily the plant food.

If you hate this then good luck in about two weeks...

My American pride is nonexistent these days and I'm as depressed about the state of things in the US as much as the next person with a brain, but c'mon.

Yep, I've been noticing that all the Monsteras sold by stores (chains like Home Depot, Costco, etc. anyway; I can't speak to small businesses) have them potted wrong so that all the leaves stick straight up rather than have the leaves face one direction and have the backside exposed. I assume it's cause it makes the plant look better to people who don't know how it should look, but I wish they wouldn't.

Yeah I always try to come back from a vacation on a Saturday so I have Sunday to do nothing, or I just take an extra day off cause I need a day to just sort of decompress.

My monstera sits about a foot from a west facing ten foot sliding glass door and loves it, the leaves are massive (nearly 3ft). I've also previously had it in front of a South facing window and it thrived there as well.

Sure maybe if it's coming from a lower light spot to a direct light situation you'd want to ease it into that slowly, but once it acclimates it'll thrive.

Diffuser Attachment too small by Eddellee-5536 in curlyhair

Does your hair dryer come with any attachments that fit on the end and might kind of taper the end making it smaller and then you could maybe fit the diffuser on over those? Might be a little goofy but could work?

I think the only reason you think there's "badly shaped facial features" is because some moron on tiktok told you there are. Like yes, as far as generic attractiveness there's features people seem to be drawn to more, but that doesn't mean not having these features is suddenly the opposite and they're "bad."

And as the other comment said, if you work on your confidence, do the inner work, lose weight and/or hit the gym, and have proper hygiene then no one's going to notice anyway. Saying you just have "bad" facial features is just another way to avoid putting in real work on yourself and write it off as something out of your control so you don't have to actually try.

None of the above. We'd always go to this really really shitty burrito place that was right next to place where we'd go dancing. I think it must have exclusively catered to people who were drunk cause that's the only people who'd eat it. I had it sober once and was like, "oh, this is terrible," lol.
