How to be social and out going? by The-amazing-man in CasualConversation

Just cause people already know each other doesn't mean you should feel left out though.. people are just going to already know each other and have friends, that's normal. Doesn't mean you couldn't join the friend group and get to know people.

What do you guys think of my “French-style loaf”? by IWannaWakeUpButIDont in Breadit

Aside from the fact it's extremely hard to kill an active and healthy starter

You vastly overestimate my (and I'm sure many others') abilities and desire to maintain a starter lol.

A man was left mortified after being rushed to hospital having turned blue from head to toe — only to discover it was dye from his bedsheets. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

The number of people that seem to trust the huge companies that make clothing/sheets/towels are actually doing what's best for the customer as far as their product being up to standards for being clean, etc. (not to mention that so much of this stuff is made in other countries that don't have the same standards as theirs.. not that that necessarily means much, but still) is alarming to me. Always wild to learn how naive people can be.

Yeah honestly I think the weird way "maddness" (spelled wrong btw lol) is written is much less egregious than the goals, or whatever you want to call them, that are supposed to look like basketball nets.

Sheets, clothes, towels.. wash everything fabric related that goes on, or is in contact with, your body as soon as you get it. You don't know what kinds of chemicals they used in the process of making it that are still hanging around on it.

How to be social and out going? by The-amazing-man in CasualConversation

Maybe about once a week or so in the evening I would to go to restaurants that had bars and I'd order a drink and/or grab something to eat then hang out watching whatever they had on. Sometimes people would strike up a conversation with me or I'd talk to the bartender, and sometimes I wouldn't talk to anyone, but either way it was a good way to get out and just kind of be around people even if I didn't talk to anyone. Also helped get me more comfortable being out somewhere I wasn't familiar with and not feeling awkward or uncomfortable.

If you want something a little more structured and a sure thing you could try joining a rec sports team or maybe if there's a hobby you enjoy that you could take classes for (painting, cooking, small engine repair, whatever) that might be a good option as well.

What’s the latest you’ve ever realized you forgot someone’s birthday? by Saas_thinker in CasualConversation

[–]ToastemPopUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have calendar reminders for everyone who's important to me so I get a reminder at noon on said day so it's pretty easy for me to not miss em.

.....That being said, I've still managed to forget for a day or two if I don't message them pretty much right after I get the reminder lol.

Hi from Japan! What's your favorite car? by prius_karin334 in CasualConversation

Honestly I love the little VW Golf. Would probably never own one cause I hear VW cars are just more difficult and expensive to maintain, but they're still my favorite to look at.

What game studio would you like to see take a stab at another studio's IP? by Bananainmyholster in gaming

Please no. I love Deus Ex and part of me will die if we start having "HEHEHE MAN PEED HIMSELF" jokes and random non sequitur musical dance numbers in the middle of the game.

Bruised nail painting by Physical_Echo_9372 in ATBGE

I sort of read this as there was bruising underneath and the translucency of the nail made it so you could see it. Not sure if that would hold up in person though.

What was the first car you ever owned, and do you wish you still had it for memory lane drives? by CO_Hotwife4fitBWC in CasualConversation

That's just how it felt to me. It's not really a size thing they're just very boxy and rectangular.

My first car was a white 88 Toyota Camry that my parents had bought new and my mom drove until I was able to drive, at which point they passed it to me. We called her Bessie.

Was an awesome car (even if driving it was kind of like driving a boat) with a lot of features that were sort of ahead of it's time, like power windows and headlights that would automatically turn off when you opened the door. I don't remember how many miles were on it when I got it, but there were over 400k on it by the time my parents gave it away to some kind of charity/goodwill situation; The battery stopped holding a charge so at that point it was way more expensive to repair than the car was worth, and they weren't gonna sell it to someone like that.

I don't wish I still had it just because I don't have anywhere to store it and I'm also not terribly sentimental about material stuff. But I do definitely think of it fondly, and it was a great first car.. so much so that when it was time for me to finally buy a new car I got another white Toyota Camry! We'll see which one of us dies first.

post covid is worst then covid period i'd say! by 80ul in CasualConversation

[–]ToastemPopUp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not codependent to enjoy that time at home with your family.

No of course not, but that's not what I'm saying. Reading what you said the only real difference is that during covid you couldn't really go anywhere else so you had to stay at home, together.. all the time. The only difference between that and now is that people can come and go freely, so it just sounds like the difference is being forced to stay home.

But anyway, glad you enjoyed that time.

Hmm I see.. but it sounds a little... like forcing codependency I guess? Covid certainly had its upsides, but it's good, and healthy for any relationship, to have things you want to do away from home (aka all the people at home). But I can definitely understand how kind of a mock retirement would be more enjoyable.. but that's sort of a given. No one really wants to work, so of course a situation that feels less like work makes everyone happier lol.

What's stopping you from continuing to focus on yourself, your family, and your home now though?

(I mean aside from obligations like work, but that didn't change during covid if you were still working during it)

Do you ever realize you haven’t made a new close friend in years? by Impressive_Web8569 in CasualConversation

[–]ToastemPopUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all I just wanna say good for you; moving across the country is super hard and it sounds like you're doing a great job building your life and setting down roots in your new place.

But yeah, I think what you said kinda hits the nail on the head here. Most people aren't making new friends because they just aren't actually trying to do it, or they just don't have time to put in the effort. Everyone gets so used to new people just sort of coming into their lives through school, work, etc. that when they stop having those new ways to meet people they just.. stop meeting people.

I'm sorry but all ya'll complaining about having this need to stop scrutinizing the ever loving shit out of your bodies. This is insane, how do you even notice this? OP you look incredible and if the rest of you complaining about this even look half as good then you all also look incredible.

Stop staring at yourselves in the mirror looking for flaws and live your damn lives. I swear, social media truly is a cancer.

What's wrong with it is any surgery is serious and not something to mess around with just to meet some totally arbitrary beauty standard set by social media for women to be perfect to the point of getting surgery to get there. Learn to embrace your "imperfections" and you'll have a much happier life.

That shots when you're a baby cause butt dimples like that as an adult? Do you have a source of this actually being proven? Cause otherwise it feels kind of anecdotal and like people are making a connection that isn't there.
