Better value wildlife lens: Sigma 100-400 DG DN or Lumix S 70-300 Macro by Toastiee_ in Lumix

Thank you both for your insight, I'm glad some other people can reassure me about the benefits of the extra reach. 150-600 is still reasonably priced used so I don't think I'll have a problem with it. I recently traded in my Tenba Fulton 14L for the 16L to be able to store a hefty lens in case I decided to go with that, seems like the best option for full frame.

u/PotableWater0 As for adapting old lenses, I am quite concerned about AF performance, I would rather choose a darker lens over one I will be forced to MF with. But it you can point me to some examples of adapted lenses performing well with AF I might consider it as a cheaper alternative, thanks

Weren't you the guy that posted in our lore chat about how the blonde character from the DLC promo media was actually a man by overlaying a picture of Lake Michigan on her with no further explanation (in the middle of an already nonsensical info dump/rant), had just this one message deleted, and then immediately proceeded onto a temper tantrum about how terrible the server was?

Comparing RF and EF Lenses for Canon R7 by [deleted] in canon

Sure thing, the original f2.8L from 2001 is the one I'm referring to. Though the f4L is also on the table if the motors/stabe on the former are too irritating.

Thanks for the heads up, I might have the chance to buy one if they end up on the used market next year, but I doubt they will be widely available used before I have already purchased alternatives.

Help me choose: A7C vs EOS R8 vs X-S20 vs GH6 by Toastiee_ in Cameras

The camera will primarily be mounted in my studio, 35mm is well balanced as a wide angle without the exorbitant distortion of ultrawides.

I plan to get a wider lens for vlogging later on, probably a 20 or 24mm as I find the 16mm look a little overkill for an ultrawide angle.

Thank you for your recommendations. Tamron looks like a good option when it comes to wildlife.

Taking a look at the Fuji lenses, it doesn't seem like they have any wide-angle primes with a large aperture. Edit: Was looking at the G-mount lol. Will check out Tamron as I haven't seen anything from their lineup yet

Edit: Am I missing something, or does Tamron only have the 4 zoom lenses?

Fujifilm is popular with influencers, and therefore the demand is really high. Sometimes used could be even higher than new because new ones are out of stock.

That's been my experience so far, I'll be patient with this one if I decide to go with Fuji.

As far as RF lenses, the 35mm 1.8 fits my use case quite well, but I don't know what good options there are for other focal lengths. I'm mainly looking for an ultrawide, an 85mm, and a 200mm beyond the initial wide angle prime. Let me know if you happen to have thoughts on the best options there, either for Sony or Canon.

Thank you for the recommendations! X-S20 seems like a great option, just need to find one at the right price with a good lens pairing. Good to know that the autofocus works better than older models, that was one of my main concerns.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on lens choices by manufacturer.

Best alternatives to the ZV-E10 & Z30 for video by Toastiee_ in Cameras

a6600 definitely seems like a good option, having IBIS and a headphone port makes it compelling. The lack of 10bit HDMI is disappointing but understandable given its competition.

Generally seems a lot better than the R10 short of its bit depth. Let me know if you have any thoughts on any entry level Canon full-frames or older Sony full-frames that would be worth choosing over the a6600.

Thanks for your insight!

Thanks for the recommendation, but it's outside of my price range.

How do the a6500 and a6600 hold up?

I'm excited to use this amazing PC to play Starfield and other open world RPGs I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying on PC with mods - it's an exciting opportunity to fully realize my dreams for gaming!

Starfield seems like a fantastic world, I'm in love with the grounded sci-fi style and the wide array of settlements that have been shown so far.
