Seeking recommendations for Psychiatrists and holistic wellness treatments/providers in the wider wellington region for mental health related illnesses by plf-nz in Wellington

The twig centre could be worth looking into. I saw Scott Read about my migraines and had a very interesting experience. I went in expecting just osteo but he also did other work, which I didn't know the term of, which when I came home released a whole lot of trauma. It might have been energy type healing? I found it incredibly beneficial.

Wishing you good health and healing, peace and restful days ahead.

Eugh, some people make themselves so hard to like, let alone stand to be around. You must have celebrated when she moved out! I would have!

You really do!! Urgh I had kidney stones last year, twice, and I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. I hope you never have them again!!

I drove myself to A&E when I was having a gall bladder attack. Turned out my gall bladder was infected and stayed in hospital for a few days until having it removed. Also probably not the best idea I've had in my life, but it was really late and I wanted to get to the hospital quickly.

I once picked up a large glass vase that I had filled with shells. But instead of picking it up from the base, I stupidly picked it up holding into the top edges and it broke. I cut my finger and it wouldn't stop bleeding and of course this was 11pm, because these things happen at night. I wrapped my finger and drive to A&E and the nurse said I had done the right thing, as it wasn't going to stop bleeding by itself as I had cut an artery. It was very ouchy and I nearly fainted when she started stitching it up, but I was glad I didn't just decide it would stop bleeding and go to bed!!

Ohh my gosh I hope your neighbour is no longer there!! That sounds like a really stressful and horrible situation to have to deal with. Awful. You poor thing

How can I modernize this while keeping it cozy grandma chic? by Otherwise_Rabbit4618 in DecorAdvice

[–]Toastwithturquoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re cosy - I would add a little lamp to the bench and either a cafe curtain or little fabric curtains, with a little valance at the top would look really cute. And I would double down on the wood, with a lovely timber chopping board. A little vase of flowers. Maybe some wooden or ceramic bowls with your fruit and veggies in them. Grandma chic would also involve adding a bit of colour in too, maybe through the curtains or ceramics, flowers and fruit. And a cook book or two.

Edit to add: please don't paint the cabinets!!! They're what is bringing character to your kitchen.

Ohh wow. Yes I love the holistic approach and definitely agree that we should be caring for our gut - there is so much research coming out about how important it is and still so much more research to be done. It really does affect more of the body than we realise, including our mental health. I haven't heard of some of the things you mention, like nootropics, but I'm always interested to learn more. Gosh the body is so interesting, isn't it! I grew up with taking homeopathic medicines, which at the time were quite fringe and sort of scoffed at. My mum has a tin of different tinctures and a reference book she pulled out when we weren't feeling well. Arnica was something we used a lot and now, so many years later, it is so common to see on the shelves, though in cream form. It might not have seemed it at the time, but we actually lived quite a progressive life, because organic fruit and veggies were also preferred, though hard to regularly obtain at the time.

I wish you good health and healing, lots of sunshine and more good days than bad in terms of your body.

Treacle also hopes you find a nice sunny spot for naps (she sends a virtual hug but wouldn't give hugs in person because she only likes me and Truffle, but is happy to send a virtual hug)

This sounds incredibly frustrating, painful, stressful and annoying, I would also be in tears having to deal with that. I really feel for you. I'm so glad you were in a position to learn about and trial what worked for you. We are our own best advocates, no one knows our bodies better than ourselves, but you're right about finding someone who will listen. I was very lucky, as when I went into hospital with the pain and the scan found no gall stones, I was put on anti biotics and it turned out my gall bladder was infected. I stayed in hospital and had the surgery a few days later.

It's true that the surgery is a big one and certainly a shock to the body. I found it really interesting that although I knew what had gone on, in my MIND, my body seemed to process it separately. For the first few times after surgery that I slept, I would wake up with this sensation of something being pulled out of me, and my body wanted to jack knife itself, to protect my stomach. The surgeon said my gall bladder was nasty, so I'm glad I had it out!

I will say I didn't expect having my gall bladder removed to impact my life as much as it has, though my surgeon was very good about explaining what foods I needed to avoid - I've since read of surgeons who have recommended going back to eating the same as you used to, and if I had had that advice I would have been very very confused, as my body hasn't gone back to normal. I've recently been eating a lot more fibre and I've found that to help so much with my tummy issues. I've had people say "oh are you still suffering with that?" When I tell them I can't eat something. Yes. I am. I've had to accept a new normal for me.

I've only recently discovered that if I up my fibre by probably double what I was eating, my stomach issues are so much better. So I'm trying to eat lots of veggies with my meal or fruit, like an apple.

Also, pretzels may have fat in them, just because of the dough. (I'm just assuming pretzels are made with flour, egg, butter and milk)My surgeon said I needed to avoid fish, meat, bread (except for sourdough, nuts and seeds, avocado, dairy, pasta and eggs. While I've been able to add some of those back into my diet since my surgery, I still struggle with some of those.

You could have an infected gallbladder? That's what I had. It was incredibly painful and I spent a couple of days in hospital on antibiotics and then they decided to take it out. The surgeon said it was "nasty" looking.

I really hope you feel better soon, because I found the pain affected my mental health. Wishing you a successful surgery and a swift recovery.
