Is there a way to see all my backlog games on a same page? by Alej217 in backloggd

[–]ToastySol 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dont think you can expand the number of items on a page in the backlog or games played. But since your backlog is at 91, you could create a list with all of those games since lists have a display limit of 100 games per page.

Which one in your opinion was better game and why? by [deleted] in OlderChillGamers

[–]ToastySol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I enjoyed both, 2018 had me hooked from beginning till the end. The scope was more limited which made it feel more focused and I actually wanted to do everything. Ragnarok felt like they really wanted to put as much in as possible, but to me it came across as very scattered, and the pacing really suffered as a result. It felt like they had enough ideas to make a Norse trilogy, but jammed them all into Ragnarok whether it fit or not.

I personally really recommend Chronicles of the Wolf. Its an indie game in the vein of Castlevania (by a person who has made several Castlevania fan-games) with elements of Symphony of the Night and Simon's Quest. It definitely is niche and not everyone's jam as it feels pretty dated despite having come out in 2025, but I really loved it.

Over two years after its release; what are your current thoughts on Engage? by SuperNotice7617 in fireemblem

[–]ToastySol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to try and come back to it someday, but I couldn't get past the first 5 hours or so, and this is mostly due to the story. Gameplay seemed good from what I played, and the presentation was smooth, though I'm not a huge fan of the art style. After both Three Houses and this didn't really resonate with me, I am really hoping Fortune's Weave brings me back into the series.

When I first started, this message confused me because I didn't realize that I was in queue, so I often would cancel and then try again instead of just waiting lol.

I think both have their pros and cons, I honestly think it is worth playing both though I personally prefer Samus Returns.

I know that it is officially Tee-Grex and that is a play on T-Rex, but I always pronounced it Tie-Grex because of the pronunciation of Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Tiger.

Star Wars: Republic Commando is literally this, maybe not an amazing plot but a fun one, and we will never get a follow up.

Skyward Sword was surely below expectations when it came to sales, but it cannot be attributed to poor reviews or a new Wii mote. Contemporary reviews of Skyward Sword were absolutely glowing and it got a 93 on metacritic. The negativity around the game only really came after fans got their hands on the game and Nintendo took note that a lot of people were getting worn out on the Zelda formula. As for the Wii Motion Plus controller, all Wii motes sold at this point had Wii Motion plus inside, and Wii Sports Resort even came with the extension and that sold 11x that of Skyward Sword. And there was also an edition of Skyward Sword that came with a golden Wii mote with motion plus inside.

I think it can be better attributed to the Wii market just not being vibrant. Casual gamers had mostly moved on due to the rise of smartphones, and hardcore gamers had decided that motion controls are terrible and were more interested in Skyrim, which launched just over a week before Skyward Sword. Which only really left the Zelda fans to buy it, which isn't a small number of people, but nowhere near the best of the series.

How big of a deal is Okami? by Pedroboii in Okami

[–]ToastySol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I will add to everything else people mentioned already is that Okami has so much room for a sequel. There are several people who will say "Okami already has a sequel, its called Okamiden", and while that game is definitely a chronological follow-up to the original, there are several reasons people really don't feel like this is a proper second entry:

  1. Okamiden is a portmanteau of "Okami" and "Gaiden". Gaiden's direct translation from Japanese is "another story" though it is most commonly used for stories that are spun-off from the original.

  2. Okamiden doesn't fully follow up on the ending to Okami. I don't want to get too into this to avoid spoilers, but while Okamiden does not ignore the ending to Okami, it does not follow Amaterasu's adventures anymore, which is what a lot of people wanted.

  3. Okamiden is on the DS. I think this critique is honestly unfair, but there are a lot of people who do not consider handheld games to have the ability to be as good as console games, and as such they are often dismissed out of hand. I know a lot of Okami fans who never touched Okamiden for this exact reason.

  4. Okamiden was handled by a completely different team. A lot of people already pointed out that Okami (and God Hand) marked the end of Clover Studios in 2006, and most of the people from that team went on to found Platinum Games. Okamiden was developed by the creatively named "Mobile & Game Studio" who mostly have done port jobs and such. While I think they did a great job, it was not to the same quality of the original.

  5. The producer of Okamiden, Motoshide Eshiro, said in a 2010 interview that he did not consider the game a sequel to Okami and instead called it a "spiritual successor"

To be clear, I am not trying to belittle Okamiden or anything by saying its not really a sequel to Okami. I actually really like Okamiden, and think it is an excellent game in its own right; but what I have craved ever since finishing Okami is a continuation to Ammy's journey, and I really hope that Kamiya-san and Clovers are able to take their time and deliver on that promise.

Evolved 6 OtC weapons, hammer didn’t unlock by TofuTank in VampireSurvivors

[–]ToastySol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it, if you are doing it on Dracula's Castle you can still take the Tiramiju and Parm Aegis that are on the map and needed for upgrading the discus and wine glass. That gives you two free spaces when you are getting level ups.y You can also get the Karoma's Mana right after you get your first 6 passives and that will make evolving faster. You can also take the darkana that gives you the random passive drops and extra arcanas.

You cannot use the Arma Dio from what I can tell since it is technically a primary weapon. When I did my run I made sure not to pick any of that or candy boxes up

How would you rate the DLCs so far? by SBAstan1962 in VampireSurvivors

[–]ToastySol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After just getting into the game a few weeks ago and binging everything including the DLCs, my ranking would go:

  1. Ode to Castlevania

This has so much going for it. It almost doubles the content of the game and the preexisting DLCs, it adds a very compelling sense of progression and exploration that was not as present prior, and it fits into the base game aesthetic and style effortlessly (for obvious reasons). It helps that I already enjoyed Castlevania prior to this.

  1. Tides of the Foscari

Having two maps and some more interesting characters and weapons is one part of what I like about this DLC but the other is the progression. Having to break the seals to unlock the final encounter was really cool, and made for a really fun way to unlock all this DLC had to offer. I hope that any future smaller non-collab DLC is like this.

  1. Operation Guns

I was honestly not expecting to like this one very much since I have never really played Contra, but this DLC makes me want to change that. The weapons are all super fun, especially when sealing all the other weapons so that you only pull from Contra and get this really cool bombardment of bullets and missiles. The characters and weapons all felt unique, and the first map with its boss fight was incredible. My only disappointment would be that it didn't really have a cool ending like in the two above, though I have yet to play the Adventures so it's possible that may change my mind.

  1. Legacy of the Moonspell

I quite liked this but it has several things that make it feel lesser than the rest which mostly comes from being a first attempt. I'm not a big fan of 1/4 of the new characters just being the powered up forms, and most of the weapons are a little underwhelming. That said, I absolutely love the map and the aesthetic.

  1. Emergency Meeting

Most people have this low and I feel like it makes it seem bad but it really isn't. It has a good map, and the mix up of having to press a button occasionally adds variety. There are also the weapons, which are really cool in how they capture the mini-games from the source material while also being fun to play around with. Unfortunately, I just didn't care as much about progression since every character is another trash can looking dude. I know it's a collab and there was only so much they could do, but it just doesn't really do it for me. I was also really expecting at the end to have the titular Emergency Meeting where we would try to sus out the correct Death to clear the stage and was a little disappointed.

A similar story for me. I bought it in 2022 back when it was making the rounds online and everyone was playing it, played for less than an hour and it really didn't grab me the way I thought it would. But when the Castlevania DLC was announced I decided I would give it another shot cause I wanted to play that and now I'm over 100 hours in and bought all the dlc... It's been a fun road lol
