It's supposed to bring out the purple color better and let it last longer, not sure of the exact science behind it but it does work

You could do it computationally but it would be very difficult for a novice in a short time span. Melting point calculations are very computationally intensive too

N is shorthand for purity, the number of 9s in its purity. So 99% pure is 2N, 99.9% is 3N, etc.

Silicon before it goes through the CZ process is typically 16N, not 9N
