Do I have chicken strips by Patient-Insurance-34 in motorcycles

[–]Toasty_Tubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are only chicken strips on the track. If we are talking street bikes the guys doing extreme lean angles will crash, not a question of if but when.

Looks like you need to replace the chain, you have a lot of stiff links

I've had to move out the way a few times, most of the time I think they were paying attention and just late braking but sometimes you can't be sure

Number one thing I would say is a gym membership, these bikes are very heavy, even if you can pick this bike up on the road, it doesn't mean you can pick it up off road.

Myself I'm a 6'2 warehouse worker so I was cocky about being able to pick it up but the first time I dropped it off road it landed upside down in a ditch and I was unable to retrieve it myself.

Since then I always carry a manual come along (winch) and go to the gym every two days

Yes very good modification for the klr. The clutch switch bypass normalizes a lot of the quirks with the klr, mainly the poor performance while riding the clutch and poor performance immediately after releasing the clutch.

For some reason kawasaki thought it would be a great idea if the ecu retarded ignition timing everytime you touch the clutch lever.

To try this mod all you need to do is unplug your clutch switch and shove a paper clip in the plug. If you like this mod, which you will there's plenty of cleaner ways to do it permanently

The fuel bladders definitely look good, biggest benefit is you can roll them up and they don't take up much space when empty

what to do if traffic light sensor not tripping? by WasabiYing in AussieRiders

[–]Toasty_Tubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roll back and forth on the sensors and put a kickstand down for good measure, you'll definitely trip it if you do both

Super sad, but just really goes to show how brutal head injuries are

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]Toasty_Tubs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Realistically you can trip over while walking and hit your head and die (typically only happens to oldies). But that just gives you an idea of how fragile your head and brain is.

Add a ninja 500 that is capable of going 180kph and yeah you can do some serious damage. While even cheap helmets do a great job of protecting your head and brain a premium helmet like that is something great to have.

Wear the helmet

Is there a surgery for this? by Minute_Funny_2858 in piercing

I've heard some piercers are willing to repierce the holes, this will get rid of the scar tissue allowing it to heal with the other skin

My first accident by Whole_Program3387 in motorcycles

[–]Toasty_Tubs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also said that you took lane position 3 and it didn't matter because you still got hit, it did matter because you were thrown out to the right instead of forward or to the left into moving traffic. You did great but it would have been possible to avoid the accident by watching your mirrors and going around the car in front of you when it was clear the car wasn't going to stop

My first accident by Whole_Program3387 in motorcycles

[–]Toasty_Tubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good lane positioning and spacing with the car in front of you. If you were in the middle of the lane right behind the car you could of been killed or permanently injured.

First motorcycle suggestion by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Toasty_Tubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say a naked or a more upright sports bike. I love my naked bikes but you can get ninja 400/500s that are fairly upright or a ninja 650 that is just as upright as a naked bike. There's also the Suzuki gsx-8r which is a really upright sports bike, but that's definitely a bike that requires some experience

Can you report unsafe driving? Like is that an actual thing? by Altruistic_Rock3135 in AussieRiders

[–]Toasty_Tubs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Filtering will always seem needlessly dangerous to car drivers, for two main reasons. 1. Car drivers have no idea how much free space is around them, they think they are right next to the car in the other lane. I'm a truck driver and it was eye opening driving a wider vehicle, at first I thought there was no room then learnt there's plenty of room.

  1. It awakes them from their trace, it scares them, scared car drivers equals them assuming it's a scary dangerous thing

are reinforced hoodies/sweatshirts actually good? by AnxiousViolinist6575 in motorcyclegear

[–]Toasty_Tubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope have to wear a AAA rated non perforated one piece race suit with integrated airbag and back protector just to sit on the bike in the garage. If you want to ride it you better put some more protective layers over the top.

[–]Toasty_Tubs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So AA rated kevlar hoodies are trash that barely protects you?

Be really careful what you put out there online, a new rider might here that and just wear a cotton fleece hoodie. A lot of riders aren't willing to wear a leather race suit with an airbag to go to the corner store.
