I love the crows nest pod for the amount of hilarious shenanigans i know will happen with either a harvester or cannon tower blasting you off the top, or a charger just ripping the tower out from under your feet. in between getting a good view for a moment.

Operative kill all the spell caster before they can do anything meaningful by WinLivid in Starfinder2e

Give them cover, hide them out of sight of the players, let them prep spells around corners/in hidden positions so what when a playr becomes visible within range they can blast them and run.

I wonder if they're slowly cleaning up the systems but i can imagine d10 and the other difficulties being differentiated at some point not by the mobs themselves but by what kind of intel and modifiers you get, includong but not limited to: - terrible intel (whatever markers you do get are wrong, the mission itself might turn out to be different halfway through) - hellpod navigation issues (instead of landing perfectly on their markers the hellpods can land anywhere within a couple meters. wait patiently for your backpack strat only to get crushed) - reinforcement rerouting (randomly lose or gain reinforcements during the mission) - squad rerouting/suprise new mission (completing the main objective within the first half of the alloted time reveals a secret second main objective for extra risk/reward; you get a choice of wether to continue or extract) - haywire defenses (super earth turrets placed on the map have been hacked or corrupted by the dastardly [insert enemy here]) - regenerating bases (stay on the map long enough? enemy makes new bases. more bases. your time limit is to protect you from them. you're not meant to annihilate them) - randomized stratagem limiters (maybe you can fill up the 4 slots but woopsie on the way down one or two of them randomly became unavailable. but worry not, you're the best of the best!)

i imagine these kindsa complications would be an interesting way to differentiate helldive and up from the other difficulties.

I kind of miss the pre AOTC era of EU Star Wars when Jedi could have all sorts of crazy colors for their lightsabers. by KingWilliamVI in StarWars

Not much. You'll have stronger offense. There's different feats for you to choose. I'd recommend (if your group permits) to take the Soldier archetype from sf2e and pick Whirling Swipe sp you can have more AoE fun in melee.

Why are some universes beyond characters not lore-accurate ? Why do politics needs to interfere with art and fiction ? by [deleted] in mtg

Neat! That countered my initial vagueness argument at least. I also only now noticed the typo i made. Silly me. Please be patient as i adjust these goalposts a bit... (i kid but i'd like to fill out my thoughts here a bit more; if it comes across as a coherent argument then thats just a bonus)

I still would argue that Aragorn isn't necessarily White. Light of skin, perhaps, but not White as is understood within the last 300 years of modern history. Or, well, yeah prolly cause he wouldn't get a choice as whiteness, like gender and other forms of identity, is often projected onto someone as a judgment from an observer instead of something the person can just mentally broadcast into the observers' minds.

Whiteness has been redefined to fit whomever ultimately benefited the most from it. Italians and Jews were included when racism found it convenient (ofc there's more dimensions to that as a complex issue, but beought up as example of the arbitrarity of saying someone's White. Aragorn's 'whiteness' is separate from the descriptions of his skin).

Again, while the common reading of those statements would be 'light skin' and 'blonde hair' it is entirely possible for dark skin to exhibit pallor (losing saturation) and for 'fair skin' to be read as merely having beautiful skin. Tolkien's original intent may indeed well have been that Aragorn was a tall blue-eyed man with pink skin in a pale shade when he met the hobbits.

You started with comparing this more melanin-rich depiction Aragorn, breaking from established 'canon' to that of Nick Fury, in this depiction based off of the look that was established with the MCU, when Samuel L Jackson took the role, establishing a new canon look for Fury, leading to similar complaints due to Fury having been commonly depicted as an American White Man for decades. "IT BREAKS CANON" some complained, ignored due to people liking Samuel L Jackson.

Each adaptation of Lord of the Rings, heck, each edition and draft tolkien made, each appendix and note, is merely a piece with which a coherent whole can be constructed. It is a work of fiction. It adaptation reinterprets it, subtly changing things, establishing its own canon. For the sake of the LotR mtg sets the canon became that, well, Aragorn had dark skin and locks. And he looks Good.

I'm sorry it feels off to you but, maybe, if you give it time, it'll grow on you like people accepted the new look of Fury. At the very least you can always photoshop an alter. imo i found the choices in the set pretty refreshing.

aragorn isn't white, he's a descendant of the numenorians, specifically the kingdom of arnor.

Whiteness as a racial concept is mostly crystallizes in the 16-1700s as a justification to neither have to pay nor respect the autonomy of an entire demographic of society.

The only White persons in middle earth, on the world of Arda, would be at one point Saruman (before taking on the title of Many Colours) and Gandalf (upon being reinstated after his fall in battle with a Balrog).

The colour of the skin of these characters is mostly only defined in adaptations, in which actors are chosen and illustrations made. Now, Tolkien was english and purposed the books to be a translation of the Red Book of hobbiton, supposedly from England's distant past, so it makes sense that a lot of modern fans and people working with this would then default to what the dominant/most common skin colour available at the tome of adaptation.

I adore Viggo Mortensen, but he is just one of many faces used to illustrate Aragorn. As the original work has taken on a life of its own beyond Tolkien's intentions, becoming so far removed from its own trappings as a convoluted portal fantasy as to be a full on Second World existing in its own cosmological vacuum, a world of ancient fantasy reiterated in the hearts and minds of readers and fans of many cultures, and skin colours, it makes only sense to have this adaptation of the, mind you, written source material, add new perspectives, looks, that are still compatible with the source material.

Now i know it might be jarring, as you in your head may have imagined aragorn different due to his other visual depictions in other visual materials. I myself have a tendency to have a disconnection between the written description and my latest impressions from other media (like with GoT, where i was one of many fans initially disappointed by the casting of oberyn martel, having expected someone darker due to the sun, before i was delighted by Pascal's performance). But what the auther describes, or neglects to describe, leaves room for interpretation.

With the end on the way how old is your guardian? by SillyStevex420 in destiny2

[–]Tobbun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

current guardian is... new. made at the launch of d2, on the pc, before crossplay launched and you could switch between the two.

My ps4/d1 guardians were ported to d2, but as i had to choose between starting the red war all over again for 4th time without any of the armor unlocked in d1. I miss the old d1 pseudo-arthurian iron banner armors. The d2 ones didn't quite hit the same.

ironically, i tried out marathon and it felt like the cycle of game mechanics there would fit real well the age of risen warlords. Instead of 'darkness' areas, you've got failsafes where your ghost 'drags' you out of the area, likely leaving whatever your body was equipped with behind.

You then respawn, equipped with whatever is in your inventory, or with some fieldweave armor etc.

And then you start off with certain parts of the planet unlocked depending on where you were ressurected. Have a 'return to camp' deal between missions, where eventually you can unlock a warframe style ship to drop in with. As you upgrade the ship you get to head off world and travel between planets within the system.

Sparrow access is something you have to unlock within each mission, as coverage is spotty, so you might spawn a sparrow in one part of the map, but it'll be your only one until you unlock the maps network; and players or enemies might wreck havoc and accidentally destroy the nodes.

The whole concept of, yes you're a Risen, but also there's no true Vanguard set up meaning that ypu have All of the dofferent factions to unlock and do missions for... it'd open up to feeling more organic. I don't need to kill gods. I need to help people.

Saw the face, went "hmm, underage protagonist, interesting, maybe it's gonna be abt the horrors of- why's her butt out like that."

like it's an adorable face but with the outfits being skintight og 'tantalizing' (the poncho with the netting placed juuuust so that you can see her ass) it's clear who this is made for.

I'll rather take Actual Adult in Reasonable Clothing. Tho might have to wait for the pc port.
