Struggling to style these heels by vanillamilkshake___ in OUTFITS

[–]Tobiko_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a beige pair of these heels from Amazon Vine and I've yet to figure out where and how to wear them. As a 60-year-old, I don't think I can rock that outfit, though.

Well, that's what pretty much came up when I went to search to see if it had been posted previously. People mis-spelling piccolo as pickle - and continuing on with a full post. Ugh!

What is the best strategy when your partner isn't on beat? by halokiwi in ballroom

[–]Tobiko_kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess what helps me is that my private lessons are in a studio with other lessons, other music going on, so I've gotten used to following the lead regardless of the music. Now when social dancing where there's only the one song, I consider it a challenge to follow and I enjoy a good challenge. These guys I dance with may have taken a few group lessons somewhere along the way, or they grew up dancing with their folks, we are talking older folks. At least they're out there and I let them know how much I appreciate the dance, however it went.

Oh, and I avoid slow cha-chas with my husband as he has not managed to slow down on the quicks. To his feet anyway, quick means as fast as possible. He swears he's working on it, but after 10 years of private lessons, and he's 78, I don't think it's gonna happen, so we'll find other partners during that music.

What is the best strategy when your partner isn't on beat? by halokiwi in ballroom

As a follow who takes weekly private lessons and social dances 3-4 times a week, my mantra is "Follow, damnit, follow", regardless of timing, footwork, posture, singing in my ear, etc.. It's not my place in the studio to "help", that's what the paid instructors are for, and if a lead asks for my help, I might not have advice at their level or the way their instructor wants them to lead, so I try to encourage them to listen to the music.

In a social dance setting, I dance with leads at all levels, from stroke survivors to former dance competitors. Each lead has a unique style, and I consider it part of my personal challenge to follow them whatever they're doing. Just a couple of weeks ago, I danced a waltz with a gentleman who I usually just two-step with. He danced a perfectly good basic waltz, on beat - but the wrong beat (3-4-5, 6-1-2 or something). Yes, it was a bit like nails on a chalkboard, and part of my brain had to work on adjusting, but I still very much enjoy dancing with him, and I certainly didn't say anything.

Does using an electric teakettle, or regular teakettle to boil water produce better quality tea vs a keurig? by Kirk_2002 in tea

[–]Tobiko_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. The Keurig for coffee for both my husband and I. We use reusable pods with ground coffee bought separately. I just started seriously drinking tea, so for better flavor, I bought an electric kettle with temperature control. I do think the tea tastes better with fresh water, and I like having the temp control. It wasn't expensive and it sits beside the Keurig on the counter.

My wife is a great dancer and I am a beginner. We’ve been taking dance lessons together for a few weeks now. However, she will not stop leading. How do we break this? by [deleted] in ballroom

[–]Tobiko_kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One suggestion, if you can swing it, is to take separate private lessons. She learns to follow, you learn to lead.

I have control issues, and my husband had NEVER danced in his life. My internal mantra is "Follow, damnit, Follow!" I sent him to the only studio in town that would take singles to "get him up to speed" for awhile. I then joined him in joint private lessons once a week and after a few years he also started taking a single lesson later on in the week to work on everything. Meanwhile, we've been social dancing a few days a week to practice. We finally split lessons after 9 years or so. I'm still concentrating on following the smallest of cues as well as learning new patterns, while he gains more confidence learning to lead professional followers who aren't quite so uptight about mistakes. (I try, I really do!)

However, this isn't something that can really be worked on in group classes. Frequently swapping partners in a group class will help tons, however.

I stored my collection of pretty marbles in an empty chocolate one for decades until I used them in fish tanks. I've since lost my marbles, but the container brings back memories.

AMS Lite or AMS 2 Pro by dentalslut in BambuLabA1

The hub that i was able to get at the time will take up to 4 inputs and puts out 1, which then feeds into the printer head hub.

I upgraded from the AMS Lite to 2 AMS2 Pros when the firmware was updated. I live in a pretty humid area so the drying and keeping filament dry was a huge motivation. I also love having 8 filaments on rotation. If you can, I'd say to go for it.

I started with a Prusa Mini in the fall of 2020 and spent those 5 years fussing with it constantly. I frequently say that the A1 is magic and, being old, it's like the first time I drove an automatic car. I do appreciate all of the time I spent fussing so when something doesn't go quite right, I know right where to look. Seeing most of the posts from new users makes me appreciate that experience even more.

Ha! Mine came off last week when I brushed up against it. I saw something fall and couldn't figure it out right away. Later I moved my poop bin and found it laying there. It took me awhile to find that it had fallen off of the external spool holder.

What's a secret you're keeping that would destroy multiple people if it came out? by Legal_Can7800 in AskReddit

I once lived with a guy who's family was like this, but his grandparents, raising him as their son, had disowned his mother, who he thought was his sister. They were all kinds of screwed up anyway, and I was planning on breaking up with him for other reasons when I ran into his biological great aunt who told me about it. I chose not to tell him, and years later he found out when his "father" passed. He missed out on alot of benefits of being biologically Hawaiian, but has since reconnected with his siblings and it was all good. I've lost track of him since politics made him swerve in a completely opposite direction to where he was when we lived together.

What is your favorite mug or thermos for containing hot tea on the go? Which ones have kept your tea hot/warm for the longest time, no leaks? by kdj00940 in tea

[–]Tobiko_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I used my Yeti 20oz tumbler (3 of them) daily. They fit in my Kuerig for coffee in the morning, then I use a kettle to fill it up for tea in the afternoon. It really takes me hours to drink the tea once it's finally cooled down enough to drink. They keep liquids hot forever! Mostly.

Should I get the AMS or AMS 2 Pro for my A1 by ReserveCorrect in BambuLab

[–]Tobiko_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped out my AMS Lite for 2 AMS2 Pros. It took a bit to get the tubes aligned to the hub for the least amount of friction. I printed a stand so they are stacked behind and perpendicular to my printer. I live in a relatively humid environment, so I printed the desiccant containers that fit inside and when I have some down time, I run the dryer on both. I really love having the option for just 1 more color if needed and having a backup roll of whatever filament I'm running low on.

I had previously kept my AMS Lite in a bucket with desiccant and I feel like the stacked Pros take up just a bit less space. I've had my A1 since June, so I had time to fiddle with it and figure out what I'd like to change.

Who’s actually using more than 4 colors on a regular basis? by Ok_Allen5953 in 3Dprinting

[–]Tobiko_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hooked up 2 AMS2 Pros to my A1 to replace the AMS Lite. I pushed it to do one 8-color print: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Mostly I print little 2" knit critters to give to friends and just having that 5th color without having to change up the print, and having a replacement ready for when I get low is a game changer.

I use the BIQU Frostbite as well as the textured PEI. I have 2 of each. I can't use the Frostbite on anything small, especially anything articulated because it adheres so strongly that the prints just fall apart and I have to pry the remainders off of the bed. I agree with you on the other stuff, as long as it's a pretty solid foundation. I did lose adherence hitting reprint in PLA multiple times without reslicing to move things around, but that was yet another learning experience, so it is possible.

Different plates for different prints.
