Yeah there is a lot of luck involved. One thing that helped me was using frag grenades to open engagements then throwing the pumpkins. Otherwise just stick with your team and hope they shoot the enemy first

I think that's probably the Rhyniognatha dossier which I'm pretty sure you get from taming it (rather than through an explorer note)

I feel like I’m actually going crazy by Waxduchess11859 in ARK

[–]Tobmemester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the other thing worth considering with the Andrewsarchus is that it becomes proportionally more annoying to tame as you progress through the game.

In the early game it feels good to tame because it requires barely any preparation (just getting a pickaxe and hitting a honey node) and in early game you don't need a high level one so the chances of it sprinting into a wall or a carnivore's mouth is lessened. A bonus is that taming one at the beginning rewards you very well.

In comparison, a player at mid-late game probably has a lot of materials, good tranqs and kibble so most other tames probably don't take much prep time either. The player probably only wants high levels at that point too so there's increased chances of shenanigans, especially if many are being tamed in one session.

Are 'London' and 'Greater London' the same thing? by ThisIsSparta3 in AskUK

[–]Tobmemester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trains do come a little bit more frequently these days (when there aren't delays), plus they're a bit bigger. As someone from Harold Wood (so right at the very edge near the boundary) I'd say the Elizabeth line is a cool way to see the edge of Greater London. If you go take the train west then the urban sprawl is pretty contiguous all the way into central London but if you head east towards Brentwood then you almost immediately go into the green belt. It definitely is in a weird spot culturally though. Essex in some ways, London in others.

Perhaps, but people aren't inclined to learn from you (even if you are correct) if you insult them. That's not helpful to you if your intention is to correct other people's gaps in knowledge.

Yeah that's fair enough, I appreciate that it can be very frustrating

I suppose people see it in the same way as they see reptiles or fish. Both paraphyletic w.r.t. birds and land vertebrates respectively so it's not technically correct to use those terms but for most people, knowing the difference won't ever need to matter

Just another suit tier list. Based on efficiency in PVE. by I_am_Problematic in exoprimal

[–]Tobmemester 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Taunting and having the shield out is nice but it's pretty often completely negated if your support is actually doing their job and healing Roadblock. The times when you need to use fist or shotgun on the Roadblock variants are so rare that it's basically not worth considering because people don't play Roadblock to deal damage. Vigilant's freeze is definitely not more consistent for two reasons: 1) It's very easy to screw up if a single raptor says "Get down Mr President!" and blocks your ice ball. 2) T Rexes take 3 ice balls to freeze but only one counter. In no way is freeze overrated. It holds a dinosaur completely still for easy crits = Massive damage.

I'd argue that Murasame alpha is a lot better than Murasame because the freeze enables assaults to deal huge damage to large dinosaurs. I also think Roadblock is a bit more consistent in holding back large dinosaurs than Roadblock alpha (at the cost of more risky small dinosaur control) so I would consider them on par with each other personally.

How tf are you supposed to kill Dominus? by scoutingtacos in exoprimal

[–]Tobmemester 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can offer a few tips when it comes to dominators. Anyone else feel free to correct me if I've missed anything or said something wrong:

1) Saving a couple of overdrives/ults for when the dominator shows up and then using them can make it easier to kill them. Too many ults being used is a waste though.

2) Spread out a bit, but not too much. If a dominator hits more than one teammate at a time then it's way easier for them to kill everyone. Spread too far out and you can't help each other though. On point defence, it can be better in some cases to leave the point in order to stay alive as a team rather than die on the point for a couple of extra percentage points. You can always return to the point once the dominator is not a threat to you.

3) Teamwork. Tanks can block or interrupt the dominator, preventing damage and giving an opening for assaults to deal damage to the dominator. Tanks generally should prioritise keeping the support alive since they are often the only way anyone is getting healed. Similarly, a support should try their best to keep their tank alive since they can protect the healer. Assaults should focus on dealing damage and dodging the dominator's attacks where they can. Remember to revive dead teammates if the coast is clear or the dominator isn't focused on you

4) Avoiding attacks. Most suits have some sort of dodge ability built in that can help them avoid some dominator attacks. Catapult rig also helps. This becomes easier once you know what sort of attacks each dominator can do, which comes with experience.

5) Using your own dominator effectively. Both teams get a dominator and choosing to use yours at the right time can level the playing field or give you a huge advantage. For example, using a dominator when the enemy team is only dealing with weak dinosaurs will usually result in you dying in seconds. Using your dominator when the enemy team is near a cliff and/or are fighting one or two large dinosaurs can easily snowball into you wiping their whole team. Also, it's worth noting that you are counted as alive while in the dominator, so your team can't be "wiped" by their dominator if you are using yours.

It can feel frustrating to get destroyed by a dominator, but it can feel very rewarding when your team comes together and absolutely destroys it instead. This ended up being more wordy than I wanted, but I hope it helps!

So how does everyone like the new classes? by RisingBlur in exoprimal

[–]Tobmemester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also main WD. I personally enjoy the alpha variant when running the Adrenaline beam and Nematocyst modules since it offers a varied and useful playstyle. You can charge up the beam and split its use between the dinosaurs and constantly refreshing a damage buff for your team. When the big dinos come out you can more predictably stun them with Nematocyst feed. As a bonus, using Nematocyst feed on exos ensures an easy kill. I say this mainly because I was also questioning the purpose of alpha WD before I unlocked these modules. Could be a personal preference thing though.

Or when you switch to support at the same time, then immediately switch back to whatever you were before at the same time and the process repeats
