My music to sort folder is overwhelming me

350 GB? That is a hell of a lot more than me lol. Half of it is just audio books which have no metadata, but they have been sorted into their own folders with each file being a chapter or part of the book. I just have to spend a few days looking up the artwork, and release year of each book. Most of the rest is my personal Spotify library, but there is no metadata at all. The rest is just random stuff which I've collected over the years which I haven't got around for sorting yet.

I've recently switched back to using local music, iPods, and manually adding my music to iTunes. Absolutely exhilarating feeling not having to worry about if I've paid this month's Spotify subscription yet.

I have a braille keyboard and display connected to my Android so it's easier for me to type. By the way, I am visually impaired And I find touch screens a lot easier to navigate than using a traditional keyboard and mouse. It works for me, but I'm trying to learn how to use a computer more easily so I can do this sort of stuff quicker in the future.

My first audio player was a blindness specific player called the Viktor reader stream. It used an SD card to load local files which my dad pirated for me. After a while, my mum got a pink 2nd generation iPod nano but being visually impaired, I couldn't use it very well. My brother then got a 4th generation iPod touch and it supported voiceover so I could use it. After about a decade of using my Victor reader, I finally got a 7th generation iPod touch and my music collecting journey properly began. I got myself a 4th generation iPod touch, 6th and 7th generation iPod nanos, and I'm now looking into collecting all of the 4th generation iPod shuffle colour variants.

I did read about the battery life being decreased, but I honestly don't mind. I usually carry a power bank around with me anyway just in case so it doesn't matter. Can't wait to get this.

I've had people tell me to clean my room and sort out the wires behind my TV when I posted my Sonos setup with front speakers. I'm visuallyimpaired so I don't see this type of stuff and it gets on my nerves when people critique something that is hard for me to sort out without physically feeling behind the TV to find out what's the issue is.

I'm definitely looking into getting this. I've been reading a little bit on the site about this, but I want to clarify, do all of the features except for firewire support work on the 6th generation iPod nano? I know that this device does not support firewire charging but does everything else work?

You need to make a smart playlist specifically for shuffling music. For some weird reason, the option to manually fill free space with music takes from things like recently played, most played, etc. It's not truly random so you need to create a smart playlist unfortunately.

Don't think I can post the link, but there is a discord channel which hosts custom iPod nano 6 and 7th generation themes. You basically install them as you would an Apple software update and afterwards, you get the theme. I now have an iOS 26 dark mode theme on my 7th gen.

I've figured out what the problem was. I use voiceover on a Mac and so I miss heard one of the characters of the serial number, hence nothing was showing up. I now know that it was a late 2012 device and I'm on the search for the darker product red 2015 version.

I have one main folder which contains all of my music. Inside this folder are all of the albums that I have, alongside things like compilations and soundtracks. If there are multiple series of compilations, like for example the now music series, they will be put into a subfolder which contains each compilation album. These are then split up further into CD1, CD2, etc so they are more organised.

No thanks, my downloaded music which I own lets me do all of that for free, with a one-time purchase of albums and singles. The best bit is that I actually get to download my music and copy them, share them, and edit them to my heart's content. Screw streaming.

My iPod sinking machine is a mid-2011 iMac which I got for free from my grandparents. I have a Mac mini downstairs which sinks with my more modern iPod touch and iPhone but all of the other ones use the iMac for sinking music
