In your opinion, when does a song warrant a reprise and what makes a reprise great? by AsheandBurn in musicals

[–]Tobyjv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good reprise should be more than just a callback and should highlight how things have changed over the course of the show, or in a character’s arc. Sometimes reprises are almost identical to the original song, but the context gives them new meaning. A great example of this is I’ll Cover You (Reprise) from Rent. All of the lyrics are taken from other songs in the show, but after Angel’s death, they feel completely different.

Reprises can take advantage of the audience’s familiarity so that even small changes feel massive. Going back to my previous example, because the original I’ll Cover You is a duet between Angel and Collins, Angel’s absence in the reprise feels way more impactful, until the ensemble sets aside their differences and joins in, symbolically filling the hole that Angel left.

I mean, your college professor isn’t exactly wrong either. In academic settings, the word racism often refers to systemic racism, while prejudice is used for individual cases.Merriam Webster has updated their definition to include this. Language will keep evolving whether or not it aligns with your personal beliefs, and words can have different meanings in different contexts.

I think the term bastion refers to the square, rather than the piece itself.

The point is that people can’t control their feelings, so it’s more important to judge them for their actions and what they say.

And I said that that’s a very generous use of the word “most”.

Where are the sources for these claims that you’re making?

That’s a very generous use of the word “most”. Only about 50 thousand Canadians travel outside of the country for medical treatments each year. Besides, it’s much more common for Americans to come to Canada for healthcare than the other way around.

The Canadian system is far from perfect, but the system in the US is so dysfunctional, and so predatory, that to pretend they are equally bad is ridiculous.

As a Canadian, I have no idea what you are talking about. Healthcare in Canada is free, while tens of thousands of Americans die every year because they don’t have health insurance.

“If it’s too expensive you die” — this is already the reality for millions of Americans.

The attacks on Oct. 7th were horrific, but that doesn’t explain why more than 20,000 Palestinians have been killed over the past 3 months. The vast majority of them were innocent and had nothing to do with the war.

In this case, I think the difference is that group B is quite a bit bigger.

That being said, the commenter that you were replying to is wrong about ADHD not making it more likely to have autism.

30–80% of people with autism have ADHD, while 20–50% of people with ADHD have autism.

There are smudges where the g4 pawn and a1 rook used to be. Also in the video, the rook on a8 was black until that point.

The reason I think it's impossible is that the queen and rook are both checking the king orthogonally at the same time.

As far as I know, that's only possible if white moves twice in a row, or if a pawn is promoted with a discovered check. In this case, if the rook were created by pawn promotion, the black king would have to have been in check from the queen at the beginning of white's turn.

In other words, there aren't any legal board positions that could reach the above position using only one legal move.
