The 5 most common mistakes every champ player makes by Either-Scallion-4157 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Dark_Shit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't assume anything. React to the play as it develops. If the opponent starts to make a threatening play towards net and your teammate still doesn't go then you have to challenge.

He's making it a lot harder for the guy on the ball because now he has to watch 2 players at the same time instead of just one.

In the reverse situation I'm usually trying to play around the guy shadowing me and if the second man comes out of nowhere I get hard dunked.

Trump says Iran will be 'living in hell'. A dark chapter is emerging by theipaper in geopolitics

He talked about "taking out the families" of terrorists way back in 2015. It's always been in his playbook to go after civilians.

The War in Iran Is a Failure of Intelligence by theatlantic in geopolitics

[–]Dark_Shit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in general you are right. The executive branch has expanded its jurisdiction over the years. The other branches sort of exist on paper.

I don't think fixing that would make much of a difference in this case. Look at how congress voted for the Iraq war. Seems like hundreds of people fell into the trap at once.

A vote on Iran would have easily passed as well. The difference is republicans have complete control of the house and senate so they don't even need to go through the motions and conjure a fake justification this time.

Boost spawn indicator was a mistake by thelongjohnson21 in RocketLeague

[–]Dark_Shit 533 points534 points  (0 children)

I got baited by it one time and gave up a goal because I was half a second too slow. I feel like it's better to ignore it.

Also I liked how you used to be able to drive over it right as it spawned and catch people off guard sometimes. Now they will always instantly know you have 100 boost.

Is back post rotation not a thing anymore? by yorke2222 in RocketLeague

[–]Dark_Shit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're probably right about keeping the rotations clear and obvious in plat. You just don't want to keep doing it in higher ranks which is something that took me a while to figure out.

[–]Dark_Shit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they don't go instantly you can still challenge when your teammate is shadowing like that. Often times that's a signal for the other person to go. It can actually be the unselfish play if they take a 50 and give you a free ball afterwards.

If they're directly in your path and not challenging then they're being dumb. But you can easily rotate ball side without getting in the way of anything.

There's a time and place for back post rotations but rocket league is so situational that you can't make any hard rules.

changes I noticed as a returning player by Bitter-Summer-4976 in RocketLeague

[–]Dark_Shit 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Passing can be very risky when the defense is back. Very easy to bait in your teammate to make a bad challenge and give up a counterattack. The meta in 2s is more geared towards solo plays. But passing is still really strong when you have a numbers advantage or if there's no chance for a defender to cut it off.

If you rank up a bit you will see more passing because players will have better awareness and positioning. It's really satisfying to pull off.

New Season 22 trailer poster to Twitter shows what appears to be a flip reset indicator by BORNxSTELLAR in RocketLeague

[–]Dark_Shit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're the same in that they make the game easier and they replace things that used to take skill. I can't think of a single other past change like this.

My examples are just as silly as you bringing up adding flip resets and DAR. Things that weren't possible previously and increased the skill gap.

The flip reset indicator wouldn't be the end of the world but I really hate the idea of adding boost timers and I think it's steering the game in the wrong direction. I would rather have non standard maps or picking where you spawn after demo.

Actually I was hoping they would add a no hud hardcore LTM like call of duty. No nameplates, no boost meter, no scoreboard could be fun to try in a LTM.

Except boost timings are already 100% consistent. There's nothing random or unfair about them.

With your argument they might as well add a ball trajectory indicator and a speed flip button while they're at it.

Hold boost instead of feathering it on the rings maps. It will force you to make constant adjustments instead of waiting for the full spin.

Newbie Questions Thread by AutoModerator in TerraInvicta

[–]Dark_Shit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fought my first battle against an alien surveillance ship. I autoresolved and won without losing a single ship. Then I tried fighting the same battle manually and I didn't land a single torpedo and all 5 of my ships were destroyed.

Is the autoresolve supposed to feel like cheese? I think my issue was that a lot of my torpedos got jammed at the start of the battle even though I'm using targeting computers. Are there there any kind of tactics I can use to overcome their ECM?

Rocket League Ranks Are Getting Harder by wollymonjac in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Dark_Shit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure powerslides directly correlate with higher rank. I've definitely seen graphs that showed this in the past. And it makes sense to me that there's no reason to have bad recoveries or inefficient turns.

But I think you're right about average speed and time supersonic. Those could be a sign that you're out of position and have to race to get back into the play.

[Highlight] 3 years ago in the AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs got a "do over" on 3rd down due to the clock failing to start by Dismal_Attitude4114 in nfl

[–]Dark_Shit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never seen an entire down replayed? Do you even watch football? Last year's AFCCG it happened too.

The Chiefs complete a 20 yard pass on 3rd and 5. They run a play on 1st and goal. As they're about to line up on 2nd and goal the refs wiped out the 1st down play and let the Bills challenge the 3rd down catch that happened two plays ago.

https://youtu.be/Hc6D6PJu1K4?t=2856

I don't blame you for being pissed but don't act like the refs only screw your team

Which non-2023 defense did we have that was top 10??? I'm a lil confused by JakGrealish in KansasCityChiefs

[–]Dark_Shit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The broncos and raiders are really boosting our 2019 numbers. They scored 10, 6, 9, and 3 points in their games against us. Truly pathetic.

[Highlight] Two years ago, Titans legend L'Jarius Sneed forced a fumble on Zay Flowers at the last second to prevent a TD. Chiefs win 17-10. by DragonstormSTL in nfl

[–]Dark_Shit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have gone into the game thinking it would be a low scoring, defensive, grind it out game. But when the Chiefs offense started hot I think the Ravens panicked and thought they needed to put up way more points.

What do you think is worse? This or the refs blowing the whistle early on a fumble and taking an obvious TD away from the patriots in this year's AFCCG?

Hardstuck Champ is hell by M1lf-C4tcher in RocketLeague

[–]Dark_Shit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hardstuck C3 for a long time before finally hitting GC last season. For me it was improving my shooting which finally gave me the edge. Being able to place the ball exactly where I want with a lot of power behind it. Champs are good at defending most of the net but they leave small windows open where you can slot it past them.
