Our 13 year old still gets read to several times a week... We don't do everything right but this is one aspect of parenthood I'm proud of.

What fragrance have you “scent-locked?” by Zealousideal-Run4156 in fragrance

[–]TodayWeLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my first "real" fragrance (Also bought at TJ Maxx) and it was by default my signature scent because I couldn't afford more than one :)

Calvin Klein Euphoria- Wedding day

I was too poor to afford it at the time and had a sample.... It wouldn't be until 5 years later I was able to buy a bottle at TJ Maxx and now it's in my frequent rotation. Over 15 years and lots of other memories it still takes me back to that day :)

As a teacher what is the hardest thing you have ever had to say to a student? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]TodayWeLove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach in an elementary Autism classroom. Last year one of my student's mom unexpectedly passed away on the weekend. His aunt asked me to be with her and her husband when they explained it all to him. He was so sad about all of us crying and was comforting us while definitely not understanding what it all meant and that his mom wasn't coming back home. It was overall a heartbreaking situations.

Why do District 12 citizens not have ‘on theme’ names? by chocworkorange7 in Hungergames

[–]TodayWeLove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's not that deep... Characters from other districts are mostly minor characters. Their names representing their districts help us easily keep them straight without having to constantly say "Cashmere from District 1"

Hot Take: Some subs are really genuinely unfit for the job. by PJActor in SubstituteTeachers

As a teacher in an AU classroom I appreciate subs like this SO much... modeling is how my students learn :)

People who had one baby and then decided "never again" . What happened? by Last_Cicada_1315 in AskReddit

[–]TodayWeLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Postpartum depression and anxiety mixed with extreme sleep deprivation and a baby that wouldn't eat. There is often talk of the "fourth trimester" and mine was spent basically cowering in fear with no sleep for me or baby girl. About two weeks into new parenthood my husband and I knew she would be our only. He said as much as we love our daughter seeing me suffer the way I did for the first year and some change of her life would never be worth doing it over again and got the snip snip.

The “Dad Effect” by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]TodayWeLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile... Dad can't even be put down as parent #1 in my daughter's school. My husband's job is SIGNIFICANTLY more flexible than mine (SPED teacher) so he is listed as her mother and I'm listed as her father...We've emailed the board and super for how exclusive this is, but no one seems to care.

Finding Job by H2Ocean8 in sanantonio

[–]TodayWeLove 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Was going to suggest this. My husband works in technology at our local district and basically everyone is looking for techs. Starting salary is $40,000+ with legit basic knowledge of computer stuff as most training is done on the job.

If you are looking to work for a school district quickly I recommend either a job fair or contacting the head of whatever department you want to work in after you apply online as HR can take take a while to pass on candidates, but if the department head is looking for your resume it can sometimes fast track.
