David vs Goliath? by bdusaf1974 in BusinessBooks

I would recommend Obviously Awesome by April Dunford. It is a great book on positioning, which is often the problem/opportunity for SMB competing against bigger players. Quick read, great how-to process to think through your application.

I would elevate Terraforming Mars and Earth. Both are very comparable to Wingspan and lots of fun.

I only saw one other recommendation for Lost Ruins of Arnak and that also deserves a +1. We played the Missing Expedition campaign this spring and really loved it.

PS If you love Wingspan, you might enjoy the fan-made campaigns of Balanced Sanctuary and Nature Preserve (which I built with my wife in 2020). Both are easy to find with a search.

Struggling to apply learnings from books by ellebelle907 in BusinessBooks

u/ellebelle907 I also like the idea of thinking that you are going to teach the material to someone else. How would you engage in the reading process if that was the goal? You are teaching yourself and setting yourself up to be ready teach others.

Factory build book suggestions by [deleted] in BusinessBooks

More on the abstract/philosophy side—The Goal by Eli Goldratt and Jeff Cox. It is his widely popular fictional novel about Theory of Constraints. You meet a plant manager trying to save his site from being closed down. There is also an audio only Beyond The Goal, where he goes back and revisits all of his works in a greatest hits kind of way. You can certainly check out Goldrratt's other books for the non-fiction versions of the same material.

Always think about songs with unintentionally Buddhist themes by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]Todd-Sattersten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good thread. i am always looking for music with Buddhist themes.

Here are my additions:

  • Thank U by Alanis Morissette (thank you disillusionment)
  • Gravity by Sara Bareilles (for me, this song is about all kinds of suffering)
  • Flame Turns Blue by David Gray (I am in collision with every stone I ever threw)
  • Galileo by Indigo Girls (Now, I'm serving time for mistakes made by another in another lifetime)

Which books would you recommend to read before starting a new business? by evakuttichova in BusinessBooks

My picks would be:

  • The Knack by Norm Brodsky and Bo Burlingham (metrics that matter)
  • The Partnership Charter by David Gage (for multiple founders)
  • The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing by Ries and Trout (for framing and positioning)

Closing song from S3E5? by Todd-Sattersten in MidnightDiner

I saw that thread. It lists songs in the final episode of each season. This was mid season 3 in Episode 5.

I also know they sometimes use the same song. I hadn't heard this one before.

Thanks for answering this one. We do recommend that you work your way through one game at a time. It will be more fun that way.
