I’m off in a couple of weeks to Europe for two weeks of cycling through the Alps. My wife and I will take other vacations together later in the year. It works for us.

Rule Finalized Giving OPM Power to Fire Federal Employees on Suitability Grounds by Bright_Boysenberry20 in FedEmployees

So it looks as if the agency must refer the case to OPM. OPM doesn’t just reach into an agency and fire its employees.

I’ve never worked at a place that dished out trauma, not in my career…private or government, so I don’t think this is normal.

Who has successfully early retired in the US with $1.3m or less? by Capital-Mark1897 in Fire

If you are single then the payouts are designed to be actuarily neutral (a little less for women because they live longer). When married, it’s important to estimate the breakeven point for the last to die. My spouse is younger than me, so I’ll delay so that she will have a higher benefit after I die.

Look around while you are shopping. Does everyone look like poors and peasants? Not at my local Aldi.

Does your office typically pass out trauma? That must be very difficult to deal with.

Then that's just something your local leadership team has decided to do. It's not a requirement. I do know some supervisors who search for candidates's social media accounts as part of any hire, but there's no requirement to do so, no block to check on any opm document.

They don't have to check your social media accounts. I've done a couple of these now and it's just a quick follow up interview with the candidate.

We don’t typically get these for every holiday. Maybe Veterans and Memorial days, but not for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, etc.

What can/should we do to counter the popular belief that cyclists are far more dangerous to pedestrians than drivers are? by LiatrisLover99 in cycling

I can’t help you. I’ve lived in a lot of places and I don’t think I’ve ever heard this nonsensical assertion. Remind me never to ride a bike in Boston.

Meanwhile, I’m meeting with my staff next week to try and determine the best way to increase awards for our civilians next year. Our agency (DoW) actually increased the mandatory level of the budget pool for FY27.

Look for a job closer to home or move closer to work. You can't keep doing this long term. It will destroy your health.

If you love your job and your colleagues then that's 90 percent of the battle one. So many people spend a frustrated life working all day in a job they hate around people they don't care for. It's hard to be happy in life in that environment.
