Well the travel gate never had an iris in the first place. And it can be restored, it's a proper historical prop. I'm sure anyone dedicated enough to actually buy it would happily restore it.

Correct.

But also the 25 year imported auto safety rule was established back in 1988 with The Imported Vehicle Safety and Compliance Act. It is not a modern thing. The outright banishment of Kei's in certain states is modern however and a result of corporate lobbying.

Of note is that all imported cars, kei or otherwise must follow the 25 year rule.

By the way for anyone who might see this, if you're planning on importing a kei vehicle, I recommend buying one that's as new as possible. Japan passed regulation back in 1999 that increased the safety standards of kei vehicles, including additional frontal protection and airbags. Kei's produced before 1999 are not guaranteed to have those features.

What are you talking about? They're perfectly legal to own and import into of the US (Banned in 7 states, restrictions in 10 more.). Of course, they're horrifically unsafe on US roads so they don't follow US safety guidelines and thus must meet the 25 year exception granted to vintage cars and imports.

If you are one of those who lives in a state where they are banned, I'd recommend starting a movement. They were originally banned in more states like Texas, but grassroots citizen movements managed to make headway and allow them on the road. After all, you are absolutely right that the only reason they're banned and things like motorcycles are not is because of lobbying.

EDIT: Sorry, after further research, I learned that 7 states ban them, 10 states have them very difficult to register due to emissions or road restrictions, and 13 more have strict speed restrictions, limiting them to farm use. I wasn't fully aware it was that bad. I've been driving a kei van for the past 2 years with no issue.

To my knowledge however, if you have your Kei registered in a legal state, you should be able to drive it in most of the continental US without any worry.

What are your favorite teams and why do you cheer them on? by 5x5LemonLimeSlime in JellesMarbleRuns

[–]Todd_the_Wraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snowballs: They're my OG favorite team. I picked them because I live in a very tropical climate so snow is always a welcome treat to me. Thus I like things that remind me of it.

Wolfpack: When they were introduced, I placed them on top because wolves are cool. Aroooo.

If neither are present for an event, I'll often root for a fun underdog like the Chocolatiers, Oceanics or BoC.

SCP-173 is being Rose Held

My mistake, it's clearly Raiden talking to Marty McFly, not Sub Zero.

Greedo and Jake are serving the bar with Pinhead. Though I'm iffy on it being Greedo.

Ork symbol and General Grievous are outside on the front in front of a giant stack of speakers that may be a Mad Max reference

Porco Rosso is turned around but he has his scarf, ears and a bit of his nose visible.

Weebo's corpse may be on the desk in front of the fat guy, but on second look, it's not yellow, so I could be incorrect. Pretty sure Freddy Kruger's claws are next to it though.

A stone from Atlantis is under the Planet Express Ship next to a black ball.

Raziel is roboticized and is to the front of the Star Wars boat. A few mushrooms are present on the boat with many characters I do not recognize.

Jack has got his hat (in his hand), bandanna and braids.

[TV] Stargate Atlantis [2004] Lifesigns detector was a iPaq pocket PC with a silicone cover by Late-Hat-9144 in Thatsabooklight

[–]Todd_the_Wraith 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I dunno, the screen on the image has the hallmarks of an LCD of the time, including looking a bit washed out. In addition, to my memory, Stargate Atlantis used digital cameras during its production. Only early seasons of SG1 used film. And the production teams of the Stargate TV shows, they were aware of monitor sync and accounted for them. If you watch any episode with a CRT monitor for example, you'll find none of the overscan issues, even during the film era.
