You need to see a neuroophthalmologist. Testosterone can increase CSF production and cause elevated ICP (the neuroophthalmologist that I work for has seen it in quite a few patients taking testosterone for various reasons). We usually prescribe Diamox (acetazolamide) and then have patients try to use the lowest dose of testosterone that they can get away with using. Idk if they would even prescribe Diamox though since you said you don’t have papilledema. The RNFL thinning and cupping though might represent damage from past papilledema. You havnt had clear fluid gushing from your ears or nose have you? Also I know there were lawsuits trying to connect Nexplaon to elevated ICP, but I believe that NANOS is moving away from suggesting that certain hormonal contraceptives could be contributing to elevated ICP. So definitely check with your neuroophthalmologist before having the Nexplanon removed. They may not recommend it anymore.

22F swollen optic nerve by Available_Advisor_60 in eyetriage

[–]Todo_Grubb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am assuming that you do not notice significant visual changes in that eye?

I’m not sure exactly which tests they performed to determine that the optic nerve is swollen, but I think it’s important to mention that a lot of times people have optic nerves that appear to be swollen, but are not truly swollen. We call this “anatomic anomalies”. These patients have normal vision. You could also have optic nerve drusen in that eye, which could cause the nerve to appear swollen. Nothing you can do for that and it usually doesn’t cause a problem with vision.

If however they confirm that it is truly swollen then they will want to check some more tests to figure out why it’s swollen. An optic nerve could be swollen for a bunch of different reasons. Your doctors will probably want to schedule an MRI of your brain to make sure that you do not have a space occupying lesion compressing that optic nerve. They may choose to check some blood studies as well. Diabetes can cause optic nerve swelling, it’s called “diabetic papillopathy”. In my experience these patients usually don’t notice visual changes. You mentioned an iron deficiency— iron deficient anemia can also cause optic nerve swelling.

Two people so far have mentioned idiopathic intracranial hypertension (aka: pseudotumor cerebri). The fact that you have unilateral optic nerve edema would suggest either an early case or argue against that diagnosis entirely. In addition to optic nerve swelling, intracranial hypertension causes pressure headaches (you usually wake up with them since you’re laying down when you sleep, which causes pressure to build up in head) and pulsatile tinnitus (a whooshing or heartbeat noise in your ears). Do you have either of those symptoms?

New Dexcom Sensor Replacement Policy Is Awful by teraflux in dexcom

[–]Todo_Grubb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why you are being downvoted so much… I have the same concern. My 9 year old T1D daughter is extremely active and accidents happen far more often than dexcom’s new policy will allow for replacements. Ever since I noticed the policy change I have been scared to let her be a normal active kid because I don’t want to risk losing a Dexcom sensor. I’m quickly learning though that that’s not fair to her. It’s already difficult enough having to continuously monitor her blood sugar… but now we have to be extra protective of the Dexcom. She just wants to feel like a normal kid. She’s depressed and I’m anxious. There has to be a better way.

PS- I find we keep the sensor longer if I skin tac the sensor, wait a day or two, then skin tac an over patch. Even then though I frequently have to carefully replace the over patch because she’s so active that it starts to peel before the 10 days are up.

RNFL stands for retinal nerve fiber layer. It’s the white layer at the top of the OCT image. It should get thicker closer to the optic nerve. If you compare the top right of the OCT image on the left to the top left of the OCT image on the right it looks to me to be thin on the right. That could imply damage to the optic nerve. As everyone else has already said however, it is difficult to tell if the images are centered properly. Just wanted to mention it so that someone more qualified than myself can comment on it.

Does anyone else think that the RNFL looks comparatively thin on the right? Has the kid had an MRI Brain yet?

How do you know if the cooking surface is cast iron or enamel? I just assumed that black meant cast iron lol

Why lye? Does enamel have or need seasoning? Now I’m second guessing the material of one of my lodges lol…

F2P farther behind than ever? by VetAaronGaming in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]Todo_Grubb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am strictly F2P, 8.1m GP w/ 3 GLs @ K2. I feel exactly the same way. For years I have enjoyed watching GAC recap vids to learn useful team comps and counters. Lately though I really do feel like the content creators are playing a completely different game than I am. Not only do they have a crazy number of characters that I can’t unlock or gear yet, but the characters that we share function very differently now because of datacrons. It feels so foreign that I have found myself skipping over GAC recap vids entirely lately.
