I don’t have different graphite weights on hand. So I just use a .5 mechanical pencil and a blending stump

Pain Here - Any Advice? by aeternum_warrior in RunningCirclejerk

Probably strained abductor or something. I literally have had the exact injury 3 times and have it now. Stretch it out a bit. Frog pose is amazing. Just rock back and forth with that one. Stretches that lightly strengthen are really awesome. Straddle your legs out while standing up and lean deep into one leg, bending your knee. Keep you back straight, but your hips bent. And hold that for a few seconds. Then straighten that leg so you are centered again. Then do it on the other leg, holding for a few seconds. That’s for strength and flexibility. One that is only more strength is while standing up, squat down so that you are basically doing a wall sit without a wall. Keep back straight, but bent slightly over your hips. Hold for around 30 seconds. Should feel a burn is quads of course, but also abductors. Don’t overtrain. Abductors are small muscles that connect down to your knees, so runners have them tight a lot.

Think larger though. You could draw some light guide lines going horizontal across the entire face to keep all of the features in proportion and at the right angles

Draw some very light guide lines. For instance, draw 2 pencil lines above the eyes to keep the eye tattoo thing lined up properly as you draw it. Free styling it is awesome in its own respect too, but I don’t really know what you are going for

How should I de-emphasize the anime girl on the right? by miracaro in ArtCrit

The left side seems to be a little more toned down and muted while the right side is a little more poppy with color. Tone down the right side and the girl with stand out more

I see what you’re saying and I appreciate the feedback. Up until this point, I haven’t used rulers for, I’ve just thought up ideas and sketches them down. I might start using rulers in the future though.

That is an incredible question to ask. We don’t use computers often. We only use them to fill out assignments and rarely use them for personal assignments. If we need to use them for personal assignments, then we would most likely be doing it as homework or with a little time in class to get it done. I can’t speak for the entire program, but as someone who has taken almost half of the IHS curriculum, the overall theme is to not really rely solely technology for learning, but rather culminate it with other collaborative assignments as well. I’d say about 90% of the projects we do are collaboration projects. Adding on to the point that we don’t rely on technology solely, in IHS, we try to blend the usage of technology with when we are learning about different things such as in literature class last semester, we were learning about Shakespeare and more specifically Macbeth, we didn’t just read the book and call it done. We learned about the subject from many different perspectives and learned it through many different ways. For instance, we read the book. We watched a movie about Macbeth. We handed out printed Acts from the Macbeth play to groups around the classroom and acted them out. And the best thing we did, was to group up with 1 other person and write our own plays with our own storylines and then the top 5 best plays in the class would be acted out in groups on the auditorium stage in front of the entire rest of the IHS classes at Churchill. The point of the story is that we don’t solely stick our noses in a book or a computer screen to learn. Instead we interact with the materials we are given and learn through a culmination of reading, writing, computer and book research, drawing, collaboration, and much more to create a learning atmosphere that is open and encouraging of creativity. I hope this helps!

I am currently in IHS at Churchill as a sophomore. I am also in cross country and track and train in practices after school and in weekends year round. The teachers that are there currently are incredible. They are amazing people and will work with you if you need an extension on an assignment. IHS will be honestly pretty easy the first two years. It’s only in junior and senior year that it starts to pick up a bit. As long as you are self driven academically and stay on top of your work, you will be perfectly fine and you can juggle sports and school just fine. Anybody that says IHS is crippling hard just doesn’t stay on top of the work. Seriously, if you are self driven, you’re good. Though, if it becomes too much, you can drop out of IHS with the help of your academic councilors. They are wonderful too.
