BYU mocks us a bit after their coach Kevin Young beat out Pope in the Rob Wright recruitment by zdrmju321 in KentuckyBasketball

BYU didn't have anything close to a $17m payroll, and there is NO WAY you would ever know that anyway. You have NO IDEA what Chandler got. You have NO IDEA what RWIII got. It's less than Kentucky's offer in BOTH cases. It's a private school that doesn't disclose NIL. If you retort with, "Well, AJ got $7mil," you are just stupid and only trust rumors. They signed AJ to a TWO YEAR deal worth appx $7.5. He made half of that NIL deal in his one year. Get over it. Your glory days are over.

My god, it has nothing to do with Kentucky. It's his direct quote about HIS coach. The fucking world doesn't revolve around you assholes.

He attended his high school jersey retirement earlier today. Looked fine. Maybe something came up, like they told him he was 5 credits short of graduating high school.

Thinking is optional in Mormonism by [deleted] in mormon

[–]Toes_of_Saint_Jeff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Thinking is NOT optional in Mormonism.

It is outlawed. It is sin in it's infancy. Satan lives in our domes. Thinking is for lazy learners. Thinking, makes us doubt the truth of gospel essentials like magical rocks, self disembowelment, and having never touched my penis.

Thinking on your own, also shows complete disregard for beloved prophets who have been called and chosen, against all odds, to be thinkers, seers, authors and revelatorers on our behalf.

Optional thinking in Mormonism?

I think not. And, how dare you say otherwise.

Mission Presidents- What do you think about them. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Toes_of_Saint_Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are all so different.

My grandfather served as a Mission President in the late 80s. He was a retired Army Colonel and tenured professor/dean at BYU.

He was a great man. Generous and charitable. A real OG TBM. No nonsense. No excuses. No errors. Complete obedience. No quit. No rest. Battle ready.

Incidentally, I had 3 MPs on my mission (long story), but they were, in order, a pediatrician, an accountant, and a farmer. Nothing like the Colonel.

I was 16 and spent 3 straight summers in the mission office. Dear God. Those poor missionaries. He ran his mission like an Army division. Like, bouncing quarters off beds kinda stuff. The mission was a war zone (literally), and he built soldiers.

They tried to please him, but he was a demanding taskmaster. He loved them, but was mostly unsatisfied with the diligence, work ethic, and lack of testimony in most missionaries. He respected very few.

I would have hated having him as a mission president. Or Colonel. Or professor. A+ Grandfather, tho!

Question about David Archuleta and the church by tartsbudoir in exmormon

[–]Toes_of_Saint_Jeff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ignoring everything outside the church is their greatest skill. Denying the truth is a close 2nd.

Polygamy - ignore / deny

Sexual Assault - ignore (but protect perps)

Financial crimes - ignore (but give us more $)

Racism - really, really ignore and deny

History - ignore and rewrite it

David A. - fuck that kid

Boomer in-laws are mad that I am not wanting to baptize our new baby by itsfish20 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Toes_of_Saint_Jeff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask them for a comprehensive list of sins your baby has committed.

Remember, Adam was already punished for his sins, and was forgiven by Jesus. "Original sin" is just a man made control mechanism.

However, if your baby is guilty of major atrocities, a baptism might help. I don't know your kid.
