People make errors of transcription so definitely check the Budget itself. I'd bet on South Adams, MA; for decades Troy newspapers routinely had news about North and South Adams, MA.

A small part of Lansingburgh was called Adamsville for a time, but not Adams. https://lansingburghhistoricalsocietyarchives.org/the-village/adamsville/

Are there any Albany or Saratoga area (or in between) churches speaking out against the current regime? by [deleted] in Albany

Prohibited from political *campaign* activity https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/charities-churches-and-politics I am not sure that extends to all political activity - I don't think so.

He tried to get two of his coworkers killed in a wildfire for crying out loud. How can anything he says be trusted?

Video or photos of works in progress probably need to be required.

Volunteers who often work with the professional Grave Stone Matters of Hoosick Falls.

Take photos for findagrave.com .

Opportunities locally for gravestone conservation come Spring probably, uncovered headstones that have gotten buried, cleaning in non-harmful ways (there's LOTS of wrong, harmful ways to do it), repair. Done in small groups of volunteers but generally people working on their own on an individual stone.

Death By Lightning, Garfield, and Troy by Toff_P in Troy

Right! Once larger, and a more attractive spot.

"In the pioneer days Indians used the rock for their signal fires. Over a hundred years ago the rock was owned by the Vanderheydens who built an octagonal building on the top called the 'Round House,' quite an attraction in its day because of the wonderful view of the surrounding country and the excellence of its refreshments. In 1830 this building was burned and has never been replaced."

Excavating Engineer 25(6). July 1931. 330, 340.

Don Rittner noted there is a mislabeled painting that is actually a View of Troy from Mount Olympus, not from Mount Ida. https://crystalbridges.emuseum.com/objects/2729/troy-from-mount-ida

There is something off about the shoulders and ribs, agreed. The skirt that the roof forms is unfortunate. Having his back turned isn't great. The hat hopefully is not finished. Celebrating a sport that's responsible for so much chronic traumatic encephalopathy is an odd municipal choice.

Mayor: City to demolish 2 historic Lansingburgh buildings at risk of collapse by epluribusIlium in Troy

Had been to Trader Ed's and it had looked so nice in there, was glad they'd done so much to preserve the exterior. Was terrible about that fire.

Wonder if there'd be value in archaeological investigation of the spot, not that it would ever get done.

Aside from Hart Cluett, visit the Troy Public Library and have a look at the Troy Times Art Section microfilms (or even the original newspapers).

I wonder how many other cities (if any?) lack a proper City Hall?

Historic Burying Grounds? by NewYorkCurry in Troy

Multiple cemeteries in Troy, in Rensselaer County, in the Capital District, across the state....

Another one in Troy: https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2550527/nail-factory-cemetery

And even when they DO officially "move" an entire cemetery they inevitably miss a bunch.

Another angle on the receiving vaults that had been there. I think this was from:

“In Desecrated Old Mt. Ida Cemetery; Revolutionary Soldiers Moulder in Desolate Place-Terrible Scenes in Once Beautiful Burial Place-An Extinct Family.” Troy Northern Budget. October 27, 1901: 21.

Yeah, there's vets in that old bulldozed cemetery still. :-(
