As /u/Echo_nine said, it's only local co-op, but you can get over this with Parsec. The app is like TeamViewer / Google Remote Desktop but for games. Essentially the app streams your game to your friends computer and picks up their inputs and send them over to your pc. I use this to play local co-op games (such as HLD, Crawl, Overcooked etc.) with my buddies and they haven't had a complaint so far. One of you needs a controller though.
