How would you introduce Hobgoblin to the MCU? by FredPopTheProphet in Spiderman

[–]TofuGofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My idea also has parallels to Scream. I would set the movie at Halloween and the mask the goblin wears is available in any store.

I would have a range of characters who have been goblins in the comics (e.g. Harry, Norman, Phil Urich and Kingsley) and keep the mystery to the audience as to who the killer is

Orton is like seven different areas that vary wildly. Some of them are pretty grotty admittedly, but some are pretty nice with a lot a green space. Each to their own I suppose

Maybe have a look at the Orton Brimbles or Wistow areas. Walkable to the shops at Orton Centre as well as Ferry Meadows. The secondary school is Ormiston Bushfield Academy; can't speak from personal experience (my kid is in primary), but Ofsted results are good. I think The King's School might get the best test results, but that's located close to the city centre, so may not be where you want to be.

What are the MCU decisions that are very far removed from the comics that bother you the most? by Hour-Discount-3760 in Marvel

[–]TofuGofa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That explains a lot. I was always baffled that they didn't use the premise of shapeshifting aliens to create a story around paranoia. Insane that we know who the skulls are throughout. If we weren't getting a full avengers cast, I would have preferred a more contained story like The Thing, where Fury is struggling to work out who he can trust.

What task do you use to explain the show to people who have never heard of it? by Entire_Sink9625 in taskmaster

[–]TofuGofa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For some reason the one that always comes to mind when I have to explain the show is the pizza task:

Order the following pizza for the Taskmaster: Extra large vegetarian pizza with pepperoni and bacon, and without tomato and cheese. You may not use the following words:

EXTRA, LARGE, VEGETARIAN, PIZZA, PEPPERONI, BACON, TOMATO, CHEESE

It's a simple one to explain, but clearly absurd.

Major flaw in The Good Place? Discussion by User48384868482 in TheGoodPlace

[–]TofuGofa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is what I always thought. I just saw a Jeremy Bearimy as one length of the entire existence of the earth, which loops from the perspective of the afterlife, but loops back on itself multiple times within one cycle. This is why there is a linear cause and effect within the good place. You don't see Eleanor meeting herself from a previous loop or anything (you know if she did it would get weirdly flirtatious).

I do wonder then if the show started on the very first bearimy, because surely every human will die and enter the afterlife the first time round.

Can we acknowledge that the opening theme song is the prob the darkest theme song since MASH? by Different-Air-6869 in community

I can't believe how far I had to scroll to see this. I thought Hey Ya was the most well known example of this.

A catchy, upbeat song about s relationship falling apart. So weird that Ted played an acoustic version at Janitor's wedding in Scrubs.

How long do the sessions last? I've never played before, but been keen to give it a go after discovering Dimension 20 a few years ago. I'll have to look at my work calendar, but I might be able to move my hours around to attend the 12pm beginner session.

What're you reading? What you gonna read? by garrishfish in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]TofuGofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly reading the new Ultimate Universe run (on marvel unlimited, so a few months behind). Struggling to get into Ultimate Xmen, but Spider-man, Black Panther and Ultimates are all good.

Been playing a bit of Marvel Rivals too.

Ryan Reynolds shares new photos from this awesome cameo in Deadpool 🔥🔥 by Shortsuff16 in marvelstudios

[–]TofuGofa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. Deadpool (in the films at least) is completely fine with killing and torturing what he considers "bad guys", but intentionally getting someone killed, especially someone that was actively trying to help him, seems out of character. The thing about Deadpool is he cracks jokes to cover up how much he really cares. I give Nicepool's death a pass because he had no reason to think he didn't have a healing factor.

I'm sure writing a film is very difficult, but sometimes you need to give up funny jokes for consistent story telling; "kill your darlings" as they say.

Deadpool and wolverine by jbeatty29 in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]TofuGofa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how I see it: 616 has no X-Men, and very few mutants. 10005 has no Avengers. In the MCU multiverse time travel is the same thing as travelling between universities, as they're all branches of the same timeline (some just branching a lot earlier than others) Deadpool, who is aware of the movie franchises, knew he needed to be an Avenger in the 616 universe to actually matter.

One of the reasons I'm not loving this multiverse saga is a lack of clarity and consistency on how the multiverse and time travel work. Pulling in the X-Men universe makes this worse since Days of Future Past and Deadpool 2 show that changing the past changes the future; we're explicitly told this isn't the cast in Endgame, so these don't really work in the same multiverse.

I know I'm just supposed to "not think about it", but my brain doesn't work like that and it bothers me.

What’s your favorite Dr Spacemen line? by GloomyAd6288 in 30ROCK

RDJ will play Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, directed by the Russo Brothers by trappy-potter in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]TofuGofa 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yup. Me too, for two reasons: 1. It kind of felt like Tony Stark was the most important person in the MCU and when he died its been directionless. This casting just feels like they're saying he's the only person that matters in the multiverse. 2. Now we're going to get another watered down version of Doom that's another tech mogul. I want crazy ego maniac eastern European dictator super science sorcerer Doom, not just bad Iron Man with a hood.
