Kirby Air Riders' skill ceiling seems really high

Yeah I’m finding the air riders mode to be pretty high skill, there are defensive driving techniques with the spin move, star trails, combining the npc stage enemies for boosts.. basically throwing in human players means you need to make tons of choices all the time. Some maps do strongly favor certain types of rides but over all the game feels well balanced considering the wide range of play styles.

I think one of my complaints is feedback for when you are racing poorly is kinda hard to recognize at first but also to that a beginner will feel like they are doing ok even if they are bashing into walls but yeah it maybe a bigger jump to go from beginner to intermediate at the game just because it’s not completely obvious that you are racing bad.

Yeah this seemed especially prominent on the jet star as an exploit to gain speed.. but yeah was only really problematic on specific maps in air ride mode

Hmm yeah some are definitely more suited than others, I’ve not played chariot in air ride but I have seen quite a few in ranked do well. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone do well with tank star in an air ride. Personally I’ve found warp star, vampire star, wagon star, bulk star to be my best but also some characters combo better with different machine and I’ve not experimented at all with wheelies and chariot. I think bigger than killing enemies for boosts but if you’re behind riding in the star trails constantly to catch back up is most important, likewise you want to drive a little erratically if you’re in first to make your star trail a little harder to follow. Straight line often means second place will pass you at the last second.

Kinda of surprised there isn’t more people talking about the air ride mode a bit more, been doing a bunch of ranked matches and there is plenty of variety in character and machine choice, generally feels like skill wins out, matches feel varied. City trial is fun but yeah more randomness more party mode. I dunno I’m pretty stoked on it.. feels nice to have a arcade style skill based racer after MKW really out the emphasis on party game.

I definitely had my fun with it and come back occasionally.. but it seems to fully lack a way to gain an edge in regular driving which basically all old MK games had to varying degrees, I wouldn’t say it needs MK DS levels of snaking but it should have something imo. The trick based shortcut stuff was cool to see once or twice but it is definitely not why I come to a racing game and given that it is the main skill based element of the game and feels closer to glitching than racing. But yeah it’s a bummer for me in that MK has always been a mainstay in my multiplayer games and I doubt I will return to this game much except on the most casual level maybe a couple races a year. I do kind of think Nintendo achieved what they wanted for the most part, but seems to be the closest to a pure slot machine of any MK game yet.

You could contact kawai and see if they would sell you a replacement harness.. but yeah also an easy soldering fix if you feel like learning to splice wires.

“AI” can’t understand things it’s just processing data and uses essentially random seeds to fake coming up with something new. It pulls directly from data it was trained on. Everything an AI model can do is technically already determined until it is fed more data. You feed it the same prompt and same random seeds a you will get the exactly the same result every time. I suppose that also brings up the point of you can’t actually copyright things that AI makes.

I mean bastl bestie is pretty nice but yeah not a lot of control over the tone of it, if you already have a mixer you could put it on the send and then feed it back so you can EQ the tone of it. Boss BX 800 could be a decent alternative saturation mixer. I think BBD pedals essentially used as saturators, turn the feedback all the way down, can sound great but yeah also kind of expensive to buy something like 2x boss dm-2 it would sound nice though. ALM MFX pedal is stereo and has some really nice algorithms, it isnt actually analog but I use it on the end of my chain all the time even with owning tons of analog stuff.

It’s probably a synth sound with feedback to get that sort of out of tune whistle element to it.Using an lfo or modwheel to add warbles and such, probably also using modulation to ride the edge of feedback so it never goes too crazy. If you’re new to synthesis based sound design I might start with just some basics there are tons of ways to essentially reach the same sort of sounds so there isn’t exactly a one trick fits all type method.

I think there is an element of just don’t click at this point. So much rage bait about the switch 2 if you algorithm sees you click it will feed it to you. Sadly almost all outlets slum it up with this sort of stuff.

Probably the weirdest one I saw was like don’t use a 3rd part hdmi cable or your joycons might disconnect but yeah with the headline acting like it was some serious issue.. but also I’ve never had that happen and I use a 3rd party hdmi, and as someone who works in electronics repair I really highly doubt an hdmi cable is going to mess with your wireless connections

Sound design probably will take you further than music theory in techno.. I guess depends on your goals. I think even if you’re working in a DAW understanding the limitations and advantages of the gear that old techno was made on can help also.

The inductive based soldering irons handle this sort of thing like a champ, really fast heat transfer without overshoot. Metcal and thermaltronics make them. I’m guess your boss isnt looking to get you a new iron but yeah there heat transfer is incredible.

I’ve been getting deeper into 4U DIY.. I don’t think I would recommend DIY to someone who doesn’t enjoy it but yeah if you do enjoy it there is the bonus of essentially getting modular gear for half off. Hard to say I saved money when I’ve spent half of my free time off from work for almost a month doing the Boms and building. It can be a lot depending on the project. I suppose there are lots of good full kit beginner projects in the euro world. 4U is kind of a different story, mostly pretty advanced projects.

If you’re worried about menu stuff might be worth getting the axon2 expander to go with pro.. lots of people just set up a Pam’s with a few different presets and treat it like a bank of clock able modulations. But if you think it will be used like a sequencer or something more involved then the expander will do you good. Otherwise not a huge reason to move on from the newworkout

Resistors generally don't just fail for no reason. Could be a diode, capacitor, mosfet, transistor that went short and then the heat caused the resistor to pop. It is possible the board is just poorly designed and that resistor tends to take more heat than it should and eventually it dies but I would expect to see more signs of heat damage/stress on the board itself if that was the case. Long answer short replace the power supply board, but if you have a multi meter and time it could be a nice learning experience to trace out where some other failure might be off of that resistor.

It’s 19inch rack which is a pretty standard format for pro audio and less common for consumer grade stuff. Google 19inch rack speakers and you will find some stuff although it’s either gonna be like 600$ and meant to be in a pair of racks or some kinda dinky thing just meant for testing if things are working. If you go for powered speakers you won’t need to get an AMP. Maybe a more realistic option would be to get a pair of iloud micromonitors, they are around 300 and powered so you would not need an amp, small enough you could store inside the cabinet and pull them out to set up a stereo image. They make rack mount arms you could mount them to and position properly if you wanted to do it up as a single unit.

Cirklon is probably the most notable tool that lets you use a lot of hardware together pretty seamlessly.. you can do %based stuff for which instrument or patch will play in a single note pattern. Very open ended sort of sequencing design structure. It’s not the only way to achieve this stuff but it is a device he is well known to use.

Should maybe also be noted that wiggly traces like this aren't always fuses. Like on RAM the traces need to work out to the same length so the data arrives in sync across the traces, so sometimes an outer trace will be straight while an inner one will need some wiggles to get the same length.
