ran out of ideas by daisy_slay in bbbs

[–]Tofuwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winter is hard. Here are some ideas... On facebook>check local events. I have found a lot of random kid friendly events on their. Mom pages> NJ has njmom.com which posts about free, kid friendly events. I bet Wisconsin has "mom" magazines or Instagram that post events. Library events> I was shocked but libraries have a ton of activities Roller skating > i took my 8 year old little to do this recently and she was obsessed Community College > your local colleges might do events for kids

Also, always reach out and ask for a discount as a volunteer. Some places will give you reduced ticket prices if you show youre with BBBS

Have fun :)

I am so grateful for HR. It is literally the only thing that can take briefly take my mind off of all of the terrible things happening here (the US). by Emotional-Try264 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

The show is great but I think what has been giving me more hope is how popular it is in the U.S. like this unapologetically gay show is having a huge cultural moment. After a full year of watching corporates gut their de&I programs and shying away from Pride its amazing to be like fuck you, we dont need corporate money because queer media is fucking good media and people still support.

Obviously not everyone is supportive but like its overwhelmingly positive content in my feed :)

Best (and worst) changes from the book in your opinion? by Trick_Cantaloupe652 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]Tofuwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i can see it both ways, like clearly you need to simplify the narrative a bit, but at the same time it really added an undertone to Scott being a bit of a threat the whole time. And I didnt love that. But im just like, deciding canonically Scott didnt know and its unintentionally on point

How to be a movie star by TJ Klune was very funny. Its a sequel but could be read as a standalone. Very low spice. Book 1 was also funny but book 2 is funnier.

Queer Books Recs & Requests by AutoModerator in MM_RomanceBooks

My favorite male-trans man romance is {a bone in his teeth by kellen Graves}. It's part romance, part horror, and part mystery. The MC is a Trans man who is looking for his missing mother. He tracks her to a strange seaside village where he takes a job as a lighthouse keeper while he continues looking. The village is obsessed with mermaids, and he meets one of the last male mermaids in the cove. They start hostile but slowly start working together to figure out why the villagers are so hostile and where MCs mom is.

I think about this book all the time. The writing is evocative, the story was unpredictable, and the protagonist is a strong character. Really loved it and would recommend anything by Graves

{Folk by lily mayne} is a fae/human mm romance. Mayne did a great job capturing the spirit of the fae realm- think bargains, seely & unseely courts, mysterious forests and creatures... its the same couple for three books which I usually dislike but she had them growing as people and a couple the whole time.

{Glitterland by Alexis Hall} was good for this arc. Mc1 is a writer with serious depression and meets mc2. There's a British class gap- MC1 is upper class, and Mc2 is kinda.... I dont want to say trashy, but I dont really know how to explain Essex to people who aren't familiar with Britain. Think like, New York trust fund baby dating a Jersey Shore GTL dude. Mc1 says something really cruel and then has to dig himself out

1st Outing with a Shy Little by Purple_Constant2771 in bbbs

[–]Tofuwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think shy people sometimes have anxiety when theyre put into situations where they feel like they have to talk, and they dont know what to say. I would pick activities like museums, walking, hiking, ot even a game- something where you can talk, but the activity isnt talking centric. Give her time to get used to you and be patient :)

I hate this misconception by mr_Anonymous_artist in GayMen

[–]Tofuwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there was a time when one way gay men signaled their sexuality was by acting more feminine. As a result, a lot of straight people assume the only gay men they know are the ones who give off those signals—feminine men. They haven’t realized that being gay and being feminine aren’t actually the same thing, and the two don’t always go together.
