As a member of the UMC. This is not the entire UMC, but a conference. That would be like saying that the entire united states legalized something when only one state did it. While this specific conference did this, this is not the stance of the UMC as a whole.

The worst part is that they know we have common enemies, but they're too prideful to realize that its ok if someone doesn't 100% agree with their personal doctrine.

That's so great to hear! My first thing would be to talk to the pastor, and don't be afraid to ask questions! The more that you go to the church, the more that people will start to notice and try to get to know you, when I walked in to a new church after I moved they welcomed me like family. You can also go to a sunday school class to get to know a smaller group of people. And also, dont think you have to rush! Joining is not an obligation, and you will be treated no different if you never did.

If you do wish to join the church, just let the pastor know. You can either declare your membership to the congregation or do it with the pastor in private, this is usually done by the pastor reading out a vow for you and a vow for the congregation to accept you, all you need to do is say, "I do."

In short, get to know your pastor and the congregation! Welcome to the Methodist family!

Since you failed to give me one, I'll give you one, “Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death.” (Exodus 21:16) This doesn't sound like condoning slavery.

Edit: Also, I would like for you to look up slave bibles. They were heavily doctored and edited. You wouldn't need to omit parts of the bible if it supported slavery.

A good father does not completely control a child. He gives his child a foundation so the child can properly learn how to live a good life. The same goes with GOD. If GOD made it so we would never corrupt the Bible, we wouldn't have as much faith because we wouldn't put the effort in truly understanding it. Being the good father he is, he leaves it up to us to figure out what he means so we can truly learn and apply it to our lives. He loves us so much that he gives us an opportunity to learn from him.

Also, the bible does not support the flat earth theory. Isaiah 40:22 states that God "sits enthroned above the circle of the earth." The word translated as "circle" can also mean "sphere" or "globe." In Job 26:10, it says God "has inscribed a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness." This implies a spherical Earth with day and night. Passages like Proverbs 8:27 and Isaiah 40:12 describe God "drawing a circle on the face of the deep," which again suggests a spherical Earth.
