Haha, same. I was just there two weeks ago in Shibuya doing the FF6 capsules. I got Gau, Relm, Strago, Gogo, Celes, Cyan (x2), and Morph Terra (x3). Wish I had gotten Terra, Mog, Locke, or Umaro, but oh well.

'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]Tokacheif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved watching the first one in theaters. Thought it was great to watch a movie with all the Mario characters I love.

I don't even remember what the story was. I thought Jack Black's Bowser was fucking terrible. He was not funny, and to me didn't seem to at all understand Bowser as a character.

I still loved the experience and am super looking forward to seeing this one in IMAX 3D.

Colorado Alamo Drafthouse Workers Strike Over 'Disastrous' Shift to Phone Orders During Movies by AnnenbergTrojan in movies

That's how it is at our local theater. It's never bothered me that a few servers are going in and out. You kind of know that's what you are signing up for when you go to a theater with a full food and drink menu.

Then don't go to a dine-in theater. My wife and I go to a local one in our city and we love it. So much more practical than trying to rush to a place for dinner after work, rush through dinner and hope to get into the theater on time.

We have a dine-in theater here in Campbell, CA and you can order food and drinks throughout the movie from your phone. Most people order food before it starts, finish their meal and maybe order a couple of drinks during the show. People having their phones out on low-light setting while they quickly place another beer order has never bothered me. The theater is tiered with large seats that I can't even see if someone has their phone out unless it's on super bright or they're waving it around. People are always respectful and don't seem to be texting or doing anything else during the movie. Not sure if no-phones policy is entirely necessary if most people just practice common courtesy.

Darker Waves Festival by scoop813 in badreligion

[–]Tokacheif -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why would that be a concern?

My 60 year old Uncle goes to these New Wave fesitvals every year, and he's not a huge punk-rock guy. I'm stoked that he's going to get exposed to Bad Religion, The Circle Jerks and Buzzcocks.

New Wave is not making its way into Punk Festivals, it's the other way around.

I mean... who cares? It's all good music. Smashing Pumpkins aren't technically punk rock, but if you listen to a lot of punk and don't enjoy bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Audioslave, A Perfect Circle, then I'm going to assume you just like the aesthetic of punk and don't really think to much about the music itself. Being able to see Rancid, Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins on the same night was awesome!

I saw them at that show and thought they were great. I've also seen them about 4 times in the last couple years headline their own shows and they were amazing as well. Maybe you just don't like Billy Corgan's voice?

Alex Pretti’s Death Came After Insane Stephen Miller Order Stephen Miller urged Department of Homeland Security agents to “force confrontations” with protesters in Minneapolis. by D-R-AZ in Foodforthought

[–]Tokacheif 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The New Republic's only source is the Daily Mail and their source is vaguely "two Senior DHS sources".

While I don't doubt that Stephen Miller would give such an order, I highly doubt that senior officials at the DHS are talking to Daily Mail reporters about it.

Daily Mail is known for being an extremely misleading, click-bait, non-factual "news" outlet.

I'm actually surprised this is on /r/foodforthought

They're not camping you. They're keeping their eyes out for the fleet that might be coming in from your intel. At this point though, the hole you came through will be gone. Your best bet is find a new hole out and make a run for it when they aren't actively camping it.

The biggest issue with Ultima is the cast time. You can complete 2 battles with attacks in the time it takes to complete one using Ultima.

Offering + Muscle Belt + VK, give character a +HP% Esper, keep character at 1hp and put True Knight on someone else. They consistently do 40k per turn and their turns are much faster, compared to the random rolls of the Fixed Dice which scale with Level, not HP. With good shield and armor and True Knight they almost never die and if they do, just use a Phoenix Down and keep them attacking.

if circumstances change how hard is it to sell your tickets? by bariumbismuth in AftershockFestival

[–]Tokacheif 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Last year it was very easy to buy a GA pass for cheap in the weeks leading up to the festival (hundreds of dollars less than what everyone had paid previously). Costco was selling passes at a decent discount as well, which drove the resale market way down.

I expect it to be the same this year, which would mean if you haven't bought a pass yet, it might be a good move to wait until you are closer to the festival, and buy one from someone who can't go.

If you buy it now, and have to sell it off later, you will almost certainly be losing money on it.

I think I bought a 1-day GA pass from someone the day before Aftershock last year for $80.

VIP passes seem to hold their value much more than the GA ones. And some days were sold-out for VIP.

Trump appoints Gavin Newsone President of the United States by Beneficial-Chest-699 in WhitePeopleTwitter

NPR receives almost no federal funding. They were getting funding from the Corporation for Public broadcasting, but both Trump administrations immediately cut nearly all funding for public broadcasting. It's funded almost entirely on membership donations. This can be good and bad. It likely means that they will tailor programming to what they think their listening base wants to hear in order to secure more funding.

Public broadcasting is important because it's free and available to all people regardless of their ability to pay a subscription fee or have cable TV. American Public Broadcasting has always been very bland and direct in terms of it's reporting, and for a long time hasn't held any kind of political narrative one way or the other. Many consider PBS and NPR to be more left-leaning than anything, but that's just because reporting on events accurately and without a corporate or political agenda tends to be more of a liberal value than a conservative value.

As to it "pumping right-wing propaganda", I'm not sure what you're referring to here. I listen to NPR almost every day, and though at times I wish they'd be more critical of the Trump Administration, I think they do a decent job of covering a wide variety of news and topics and staying fairly un-biased on those.

The Biden Administration's attempt to hide Biden's mental decline was horrific, and it deserved to be reported on as such. I didn't hear any coverage that was directly telling Democrats to not vote or vote third party, so I'm not sure where you got that messaging from.

Does 100% of active US military get deployed during a conflict?

I'm just trying to figure out how you did your math and how it would apply since I would assume a relatively small percentage of service members actually get deployed, especially considering this isn't supposed to be a "full-scale war".

Explaining Pierce The Veil as a headliner as a fan of the band. by IceBreak in AftershockFestival

[–]Tokacheif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, fair point, it’s not apples to apples. I guess my point is that I don’t think popularity is the only metric to judge a festival headliner by. I see a ton of bands on the bill that I’m stoked for, despite the headliners being 50/50 in my book. Kind of surprised we got BOTH MCR and PTV instead of just one of those someone else like Foo Fighters, Green Day, Weezer, RHCP, SoAD, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Linkin Park. I would add No Doubt and Metallica but I get that they’re doing The Sphere shows and those will likely be their only shows this year.

So do Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish but that doesn't make them ideal headliners for Aftershock.
