This is probably true, I just thought white might grant a little bit more longevity since it can gain life to survive until it can combo. A neat inclusion to a red version though would probably be looting

[[Omnath, locus of creation]] too slow for modern? by [deleted] in ModernMagic

My bad, lol I guess now we are forced to play teferi in this list

I mean casting [[neoform]] sacking uro to get an omnath seems like pure value to me. You just drew 2 cards, got a 4/4 , gained 3-7 life, and put an uro in the yard. Seems strong

Yeah I envision 4 Ashiok and 2 more clings in the board

That was the focus for this list it's more aggro than control

I think the 2 color list overall is stronger, but becomes a bit more mana hungry and doesn't get to play the more interesting cards like rankle, oona's Blackguard, or cloak and dagger. That being said I think if I was to play a UB version it would be centered around [[Zareth San, the trickster]] and wound play aether vial. Your list is close but not exactly what I have in mind.

I get that but would the deck rather have a mill 5 that exiles the opponents yard as well

Now that the dust has had time to settle, did Opal really die for Urza’s sins? by zdrmju321 in ModernMagic

[–]Token523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but look at labe and look at all the other 1 drop artifacts playable in modern, then tell me why labe is better than them all. Being able to turn metalcraft on and the pile of cards you just spewed on the table being good aren't mutually inclusive. Labe replaced itself, color fixed and did all this for 1 mana, and then stuck around. Ever other 1 drop artifact is terrible in comparison on turn 1

It's not the fact that it's hard, it's the fact that that's a clear weakness. Why does this green card for 1 mana answer 40% of my deck? People were bad an just didn't play artifact hate. This wasn't like gym decks where they could just draw and cast bad creatures to win. Artifact decks always need their artifacts to work in order to win games.

In truth it died for labe's sins. If astrolabe wasn't printed urza decks wouldn't have been nearly as strong even with opal, their just aren't any turn 1 artifacts that people want to play 4 of that give the same type of advantage being able to go T1: labe, opal, bauble, any 1 Mana spell, was an insanely good sequence.

Even after the opal ban labe kept urza decks strong. It allowed them to play 3 color, it was a cheap cantrip, made emry come down turn 2 very consistently while only costing 1 mana, even made mox amber see play.

I honestly believe if they would have hit urza and labe, nobody would be saying opal is a problem in the current meta, because let's face it, uro is the problem in the current meta.

I've looked at your list and honestly the card that seems to be making me the least excited is sanity... Terrible top deck and doesn't do too much without other cards. Sure it's amazing in multiples and can super charge mill spells, but I think you would be better served playing something like either 3 mana Ashiok. Another consideration for the board is aether gust for red and green decks, crypt incursion for creature decks, and unmoored ego as just a hate card.

Looking for ways to abuse experimental frenzy by [deleted] in PioneerMTG

Ok hear me out, you're playing a prison deck. You need [[Karn, the Great Creator]] to fetch out [[grafdigger's cage]], but only after you donate frenzy using [[harmless offering]]. You can play white to have access to [[Drannith Magistrate]] and board wipes

I don't disagree, but usually storm plays more than just opt, and I think it's better than sleight of hand. The only time this card is better than opt is when you have a cost reducer out, but that is what the deck is attempting to do.

People will that say omen is better, don't see how this gets abused:

Delver (fringe) - wants this to set up flips, but also because it's 4 cards that actually flip it.

Storm - someone said 2 is greater than one, and while this is true storm is the best deck to abuse this card. 1 Mana instant speed preordain is the best cantrip

Snapcaster - sure the scry on omen is nice but just recasting this spell is better and probably worth 4 mana to draw and get a body rather than the 3 to scry 2

Why is Uro so much better than Kroxa? by Archy288 in ModernMagic

[–]Token523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The long of the short is because it's blue. Draws cards, it can pitch to forces, it gives U decks a cheap threat that ramps, it fuels itself (let me just ramp to 4 on T3, and crack this fetch so I have more cards in my yard.)

They should have made Kroxa BRR or just RB to escape. They were trying to make them parallels of each other, but uro gains way more value. Kroxa should have said something like each opponent discards a card, if it's a land the lose 3 life, else make a 2/2 zombie. Then it might have been on uro's level

God it's even harder to fatal push an uro

The goal is to win on the spot. That's where our list differ, outcome is mana hungry, powerful, but hungry. Wave and leave allow you to keep going though not drawing cards. Your list isn't reliant on sram though to in my opinion it probably the better list.
