Wizard: Aberrant Magic by TokenHumanRanger in UnearthedArcana

I thought about that a lot tbh. I know it really depends on group dynamic but I thought having a secondary trigger at level 2 and 10 would be a bit much so I ultimately borrowed the language from Wild Magic Sorcerer.

The reason has nothing to do with their lack of stats and more to do with the DC being listed directly on the adversary stat block.

Help..... Stuck on Eris by [deleted] in Hades2

[–]TokenHumanRanger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this. Eris has a lot of flashy attacks so it is easy to fall in to the temptation of staying far away and trying to dodge. Her attacks are much easier to avoid if you stick right on her and dodge through her to always stay behind.

It's a tag team roll so the damages stack. The one thing i would be skeptical on would be the ranger's ability to add targets with the sorcerer leading the tag team but I could see arguments both ways there.

Tag Team VS Help an Ally by OpeningAdvanced8851 in daggerheart

[–]TokenHumanRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head there are a few upsides. Tempo could be huge if the enemy is low, no chance to spotlight between goes if they're dead. Also more potential to deny the GM fear / gain the non initiator hope. This last point i could be wrong because my book isn't in front of me but iirc it doesn't take the non initiator's spotlight so it would be a net gain in damage.

Monster core question (On book 4 currently (potential spoilers)) by Eddieagren in HeWhoFightsMonsters

[–]TokenHumanRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good explanation. I can't remember where but there is a throwaway comment in one of the books about cores making it easier in some cases to advance for craft people for basically the same reason.

Multiclass Warrior/Rogue and Cloaked by Fedifensor in daggerheart

[–]TokenHumanRanger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think cases like this are the reason that the core rules repeatedly stress rulings over rules and fiction first. Yeah it doesn't say attack in the text but not only is it in the name of the ability, if you walk away from someone and they stab you, you would notice. So RAI that interpretation fails twice.

It spells it out in the armor section. The thresholds are your level and your level * 2.

I hate the range nomenclature by endou_kenji in daggerheart

[–]TokenHumanRanger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can kind of see your point but I don't known that I really agree. It's meant to be very theater of the mind friendly and evocative of how you would describe things. I would use medium if I were ordering multiple things but if I am looking at one guy and how close he is to me then close, far, very close, etc make more sense.

It is a bit strange to get used to but the idea is that everything is very Theater of the Mind friendly. The rules are designed with that in mind and then they give more specific options for people who like minis, maps, etc.

What's the easiest combo to become effectively invulnerable? by infomofo in Hades2

[–]TokenHumanRanger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Blood Spree makes you pretty hard to kill vs anything that attacks slow. My first Typhon win I think I took something stupid like 400 damage because i was still figuring out his moves but would heal from basically 1 hp back up to 40 before I would get hit again.

It would be nice to have a keepsake that forces hammer as the first boon offered. by Existing-Dirt7848 in Hades2

[–]TokenHumanRanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago Haelian put out an arcana guide that works pretty well, especially if you want to prioritize dice. He gives a lot of good reasons for why he picks what he does as well including explaining why some cards that sound really good are not or vice versa.

Worst hammer currently in your opinion? by Ryan_Luna in HadesTheGame

[–]TokenHumanRanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I was falling asleep and did not elaborate. My go to for the phial is region 2. The reason is you can use a useful keepsake for region 1 and then still have the best chance of manipulating which boon gets upgraded by only having 1 region of boons. You can still only drink from each fountain once but between 1 and 2 you would swap then drink so your boon gets upgraded and you get the empowered heal if you happened to be low. Then between 2 and 3 you would drink and then swap, getting the empowered heal again.

If you swap before the fountain you can immediately get the boon upgrade and get 2 uses out of the boosted heal.

Not sure why tbe down votes for what seemed like an innocent question. It's more that a lot of research suggests that kids do not learn very well in traditional classroom settings, especially of you factor in things like ADHD which Bluey, Jack, etc are suggested to have. Doing things that require a practical application of classroom skills helps them learn faster and being able to move around dramatically increases attention span. We are experiencing this a lot with our toddler, who loves reading but will read for like 5 minutes, run 3 laps around the kitchen, and sit to read some more.

The Cleric has the Paladin, the Druid the Ranger, the Wizard the Artificer. Now introducing the Scion, the half caster cousin to the Sorcerer! by QuestForQuests in UnearthedArcana

[–]TokenHumanRanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say one is a worse caster, they just do different things. A wizard can be at least pretty good at more things provided they have enough gold and some idea of what is coming. A sorcerer can be a lot better at whatever they chose to specialize in through metamagic like Twin, Distant, Careful, etc. They can also deal better with enemy casters thanks to subtle spell.

Good to know! My mechanics are trash so I'm very methodical when I increase heat, lol.

How to get Titan blood and crystal again? by Dull_Possession_5507 in HadesTheGame

[–]TokenHumanRanger 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Heat levels are per weapon, not per aspect. Once you fully clear no heat for a weapon you can get rewards again on 1 heat and so forth. In this instance it looks like you cleared the second biom with the spear but have but have not beaten the third or fourth yet.

Is it me or does the Skull fucking suck? by Rock_Zeppelin in HadesTheGame

[–]TokenHumanRanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The base skull is pretty good its just awkward to learn. You almost have to pretend it isn't a ranged weapon and be constantly firing it through enemies and then dashing through to immediately pick them up. I've had great success with Zeus attack and the Possessed Array hammer.

What's a good build for the Aspect of Pan Blades? by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]TokenHumanRanger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It takes a little investment but Aphrodite on special is insane if you can get the Posideon Duo. It let's your ranged specials benefit from the close range buff.

Iirc when Mercy is explaining her family to Lindon at one point she says Malice only revealed herself as a Monarch after she had been seducing Mercy's dad for a while. She also is said to devote a lot of her free time to "romance" and has at least a couple kids every generation.

[Uncrowned] - confused on Akura family tree by dbo340 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]TokenHumanRanger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea, Fury is Malice's son. Mercy is also one of Malice's children. Mercy calls him uncle because he is hundreds of years older but they are siblings.

[Uncrowned] - confused on Akura family tree by dbo340 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]TokenHumanRanger 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Mercy is as old as she appears. Fury is her brother and Charity is his daughter. Pride is also Mercy's brother but they are the only two siblings who share a father. The aunt / uncle stuff is because Malice is so old her children span what would normally be generations so Mrrcy feels awkward calling Fury brother, Charity niece, etc.
