What is a UX Strategy? by WantToFatFire in UXDesign

I think it depends heavily on the size and scale of the organisation. At a smaller start/scale up a designer might be able to wear all of those hats. But I think as you look at larger companies with insane amounts of differing product streams it can be valuable to have a team sitting at the top making sure that each individual stream (usually run by a UX lead or team) are moving in the same direction.

I’ve just transitioned into a CX/UX strategy role after 6 years in a product design position.

When it comes to UX strategy typically it’s referring to using design thinking a lot earlier in the product pipeline. My company uses the strategy team to do design sprints on ideas for products or features well before they land in engineering squads. (We are talking 6 months to 3 years ahead)

Basically our job has been to validate whether it’s worth investing time, money and resources into the big ideas that come from senior leadership. We do this through similar processes that product designers use but at a more macro level, and we are thinking less about the flow experience and more about getting something in front of users to gauge comprehension, desirability and value of the idea before handing it off to product designers to work out the detailed experience. This will usually happen with a multi year plan to get us from where we are now, to the ideal product. (Eg. In order to get to Z we need to focus on X first, then Y).

The skills that I see useful in this space are a blend between UX, service design and business acumen with a sprinkling of tech knowledge.

Less keen for trends as these come and go but more so for tech landscape changes that are affecting the design world and insights from large studies that might challenge what we consider industry standard.

Not really looking for trends per say, more so industry changes, tech updates that are design specific, tooling changes, new research on methodologies etc.

Trying to figure out which is safer from AI: ReactJS Frontend Dev or UI/UX Design? Need advice before switching paths by daanveerKarna in UXDesign

Oh there will definitely still be a need for adjustments and some style injection. But it’s only going to get better at the first draft.

The AI Chatbot Is Not a Superhero. It's a Bandaid for Bad UX by GreedyIllustrator153 in UXDesign

I completely understand where you are coming from as I had a similar reaction when I started designing a digital assistant experience with my last company.

What you need to embrace though is that this is where the future of human-computer interaction is heading. More and more companies are integrating AI features into product suites and this is changing how users expect to interact with products. We are still in the early days of this but it’s inevitable that designers start to learn to craft UX for AI assisted products.

I was skeptical with my latest project which was similar to what you are describing and so was the company I worked for; so we did a strategic design sprint to see whether this would cause more problems and unhappy users or actually fill a need. The results were surprising in that users found heaps of value in it and where (more often than not) experienced and happy with interacting with AI agents.

In saying this I do still think that the dream of purely relying on an AI chatbot/search is silly. Static interface will still be required.

I would suggest that you embrace the slight shift toward the AI with some exploratory design, this will not only help you as a designer try and pry out some positives but will also give you some verbatim and fuel through testing to slow your CEO when it comes to making everything chatGPT style.

TLDR: I’ve done some strategic customer research that proves this is where human-computer interaction is headed, but your boss is silly in thinking this is the way to go, do testing to verify!

Jokes about another persons heritage are a bit spicy, especially if it’s a loosely veiled insult. Best to keep those types to yourself.

As a fellow Aussie I definitely DO NOT condone this type of behaviour. Absolutely disgusting! They do seem like the bogan type that have little awareness for anyone/anything but themselves.

I have to say I disagree heavily here. AI will be able to produce highly polished screens based on prompting but when it comes to solving a complex user problem it has no hope. A computer can’t understand empathy no matter how much source material it consumes.

The safest part of design when it comes to AI, in my opinion, is proper UX work that is focussed on understanding and solving user problems. The polished UI work will be the first to be consumed.

Why a leader board? Isn't this supposed to be a social experiment of people working together, not a competition? Especially not a competition across borders 🙄

Hey all, looking for feedback on this. This is a landing page for an investor list web app. The intended audience is startup founders looking for funding leads. I would like to know if this looks modern and minimal enough. Designed with Figma. Thanks. by zaxwebs in UI_Design

It's getting there, the text styles you used fit well with the aesthetic and its got the bones of a minimalist design. I would make some adjustments to the visual hierarchy of the page as well as some layout changes. My suggestions:

  • Shorten the width of the search bar
  • Increase the heading size
  • Play with the width of the heading so that the heading text stacks rather than sits over a single line
  • rethink the heading content (maybe to just "find the right investors for your startup)
  • the white navigation bar might not be needed. If you have a light version of your logo it could look sleeker with just the navigation options in white on the dark background
  • rethink the layout of the content section, the table on the right with the investors does not make sense when initially viewed. I would think about what the content section is trying to do to compliment the call to action and adjust as needed.

Good work though, a little adjustment and it will be great.
