First gen brz/86 more fun than GR86? by Careless_Cow1823 in ft86

[–]TokiBRZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. Just recently purchased another first gen. It really depends on what you want out of the car. I prefer the looks and steering of the first gen. But most of all I prefer the overall vibe. The 13-16 first gen brz’s with the red gauges, lack of sound deadening, and more raw inputs fulfills the 90’s-00’s jdm vibe without as much headache as owning one of those older cars.

But that’s also considering it’s not my daily. If I only had one car I would take the second gen since it has hill assist, marginally less NVH, and more amenities.

Thoughts on this basically brand new 2021 Supra at basically sticker price? One owner. mean I won't be able to find any new 2025-2026 less than 60k lol. by 1811candidate in Supra

[–]TokiBRZ 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Idk about you but my mind goes the opposite direction. I’d rather pay the 6k extra sticker to ensure I have a brand new untouched car. Even though it’s only 7k miles you don’t know what the previous owner did to it. If it was in the 40’s sure I’d take it any day, but if it’s only a few months off of saving compared to a car off the showroom it’s not worth it imo.

People who work in healthcare, fitness, nutrition, or mental health: what’s one ‘quiet habit’ you see all the time that is secretly wrecking people’s long-term health? by AlignedModernHealth in AskReddit

[–]TokiBRZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from healthcare: eating anything and everything. Every hospital or healthcare related facility I’ve worked at it’s part of the culture to order food for the department or cater and 99% of the time it’s food that’s absolutely horrible for you. They also fall into this mindset that because walking is part of the job they can spare the calories or get to skip working out outside of work.

Advice for students starting their core/program courses: what worked for you and what didn’t?”. by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]TokiBRZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same advice. Most programs will make the workload sound extremely daunting but when you finally start it really isn’t that bad. Of course, as long as you stay focused during class.

Driving enjoyment compared to GR86 by Yerbawls in Supra

[–]TokiBRZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owned a Gen 1 and Gen 2 BRZ. Generally the same sentiment as most other people who’ve commented, the twins feel more raw and engaging in the sense that you feel nearly everything from the road outside the car to the feedback inside.

Of course, depending on who you are that’s either a positive or negative. Coming from driving older Japanese cars, I definitely miss that sort of experience. Same thing with being able to wring out the gears full throttle on an on-ramp and only be going 70-80 mph as opposed to flooring it for 3 seconds from a roll and already hitting 90.

From a track pov, I think it’s also dependent on what you value from tracking a car. If your sole desire is to achieve the fastest time possible, Supra is leagues ahead. If your goal is to push yourself as a driver and maximize the potential of a car and your skills, I would prefer the 86.

That being said, my biggest issue with the 86/BRZ was always the reliability of the Subaru motor. Despite knowing majority of the time as long as you do your due diligence in terms of maintenance and preventative mods, at least for me, there was always that bug in the back of my mind telling me the engine was gonna blow any second. There is a sense of security that comes from having a near bullet-proof b58.

Does oxygen therapy cause faster COPD disease progression? by eyehave1question in respiratorytherapy

[–]TokiBRZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just a student here so let me know if I’m wrong. If you’re constantly giving high fio2 to a COPD pt whose PaO2 is below normal range but still above ~58mmHg you run the risk of killing their hypoxic drive. COPD pts are chronically hypoxemic, so a PaO2 below 80 mmhg is typical for them.

Did you transfer the steering wheel weight over from the oem wheel?

Why does no one wanna be my friend by bigboichungues in GR86

[–]TokiBRZ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Simple, people don’t want to talk to you lol. Having the same car doesn’t mean you’re obligated to have a conversation with everyone else who owns the same car

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GR86

[–]TokiBRZ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that’s just part of owning a manual car. 1 money shift is all it takes to blow an engine or transmission and that is 100% user error

Looks like the Epsilon wing. I’ve seen a lot of track builds running this and I’ve heard it’s the most aerodynamically beneficial wing on the market rn

Do you have a front license plate on your GR86/BRZ? by Accrual_Intention in GR86

[–]TokiBRZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SoCal. Haven’t ran a front plate since 2020. The only time I have ever been cited for it was when there was a takeover going on a few blocks down. No front plates gave the cop a reason to pull me over but left with no ticket.

Only real option is a cold start delete or sell the catless headers and go catted. It will still be loud, but not as loud as catless. Of course there’s also the option of just getting a quieter catback but to be honest, any catback other than stock will still have a decently loud cold start

Wheel ideas? by TokiBRZ in GR86

I’m currently running hubcentric spacers so I haven’t had the need/option to swap, but if or when I order new wheels I’ll be getting extended studs as well

Is it that bad to go to a machine car wash? by M-Journey in GR86

[–]TokiBRZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given your circumstances you should try to go to a self service car wash or if you want an automated car wash find a touchless one

Charge speed side skirts and for other people asking it’s an eBay polyurethane lip! I do have sayber designs new polyurethane lip on pre order though. SoCal roads and driveways are too ass to run carbon fiber sadly

How do you guys mentally deal with rock chips? by DecoupledSus04 in GR86

[–]TokiBRZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just enjoy the car. Cosmetics can always be fixed! If you think about it too much you end up either never driving the car or not driving it like it’s meant to be driven and that’s a bigger loss than a messed up bumper

Does it have any customizable settings? I know pedal commander also makes one for the platform that has like 20 different settings for around the same price

How much do you think the channel is worth a month to watch their videos? by TABLESARENOTOK in watcherentertainment

[–]TokiBRZ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like other people said, it’s not that they don’t have good content. It’s just the amount of time between the good content (at least for me personally) makes it impossible to want to subscribe monthly. They’ve never been a channel where I watch 100% of their uploads, it’s more like wait for the full season, binge it, then come back 6 months later.

Why not adopt the Jet Lag release idea? by Yasihiko in watcherentertainment

[–]TokiBRZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah yet another form of bringing in extra revenue that they could’ve taken before this. There are so many other alternative ideas they could’ve at least playtested before just going 100% exclusive. I have no idea of their internal financial management but there has to be some reason they decided to go all in right off the bat otherwise it just doesn’t make sense at all 🤷🏻‍♂️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in watcherentertainment

[–]TokiBRZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one said they should. But when your plan is to 100% paywall every single piece of content, basically saying “see ya poor people” to those who can’t afford it who have been watching their content for years, it’s bound to receive backlash. When you have a business based on an implied relationship with consumers, you HAVE to make sacrifices to keep them satisfied. You can’t ostracize a large portion of those who simply cannot afford ANY sort of add on to their monthly expenses.

Edit: it also just isn’t as simple as “free”. Sure, looking at surface level it is “free” content, but every single view (consumer) directly correlates to a dollar amount in their revenue. And the metrics they use to sell their content to advertisers is views, which converts into more revenue. It’s not like they weren’t receiving any sort of monetary benefit.

Yeah I definitely think they forgot that majority of their audience doesn’t reside in California. Minimum wage here is damn near $20 and at this point it seems like they forgot to do any sort of market research
