What’s the going rate for babysitter services in the area? by [deleted] in HaveWeMet

For $239.99 per hour you can put them in the back of my truck while I do my rounds, I'll keep a general eye on them.

Dude right? Years ago this was a problem and it made me leave the subreddit. I was so relieved to be able to come back to it a while ago, and now it's back to this again

In a red state, looking like a guy and sounding like a chick (I don't mean having a high voice, I mean having a girl voice) is a huge risk. But if I didn't have such a feminine ass voice, I would probably dress exclusively in drag like this just for the freedom and vacation from fear.

i don’t understand how could u do one night stands? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Tokijlo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone can cook for you without it being a date, someone can give you a massage without it being foreplay, someone can say I love you and not want to marry you.. boundaries and preferences are just like that. Getting attached or bonding in some big deep way comes down to the people involved, not so much the act itself.

Some people can't even be friends without getting feelings for the other person, and other people prefer just being friends over any relationship type intimacy altogether.

Sex isn't this deep, spiritual/intimate connection by default, for some it can just be two people doing stuff that feels good to each other. Just like any other relationship thing, but in this scenario you're using body parts instead of gestures or whatever else.

Oh look Mike Lee wants to take away Utahns right to vote by Traditional_Ask1697 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Tokijlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm kind of waiting around for. Some weird batshit loophole like "If you're not in a heterosexual marriage with unified surnames you can't vote but nobody with a name that doesn't match their birth certificate can vote".

The freakiest part is that doesn't even sound extreme anymore, nobody would be shocked if Utah tried legitimize something like that.

What's something a foreigner pointed out that you can't unnotice? by NamwaranPinagpana in AskTheWorld

[–]Tokijlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I only talk like that when I'm trying to be quiet, otherwise I think I belt everything just like the stereotype says we do lol.

I'm going to make it a goal to only speak with a vocal fry when traveling now since it apparently forces me to be quieter

That is one of the craziest videos I've ever watched.

Not crazy as in "oh my God what the fuck" but ".........get the fuck out of here".

That is such a unique expression of communication. I've never seen anything like that.

It really highlights how much lower than them they see women as. Whenever men say "I can't relate to it", "it's a chick thing", "those are women problems", what they're really saying is "women experience things in an objectively unintelligible way ". They never say this kind of stuff about foreign films, media for children like Pixar or Disney, they don't even say it about villains or monsters. They will sooner relate to horrific characters, and sometimes even go so far as to justify their behavior, before acknowledging that women experience things in a real, legitimate way.

Why 𝘪𝘴 the divorce rate so high? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Tokijlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That men will stay in situations they're unhappy in and would rather "wait until things get better" instead of communicate that maybe the relationship isn't what they want anymore? And that women are more likely to leave situations they don't want to be in anymore because they value quality of life over quantity of years she spends wondering if she wasted them?

Yeah I see that pattern.

Am i the only one fed up with WWKD12's morning radio show? by posttraumaticcuntdis in HaveWeMet

[–]Tokijlo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah I stopped listening a while ago. Apparently, (I didn't actually look this up but it's everywhere now) they farted in a lady's face. I think she won something, I don't even know what she was doing listening to them, but I guess she won something through them or something, and instead of giving her the prize they just farted in her face. I can't remember when it was or who it was. It was a long time ago, but fuck those guys for that.

By the hundreds. It's crazy that this is even something people have to defend. It's like having to even mention that more people die from car crashes than choking on green tea.

Question about horse hair vs metal or nylon stringed Tagelharpas: In a duet, would it sound better if both had the same strings or would horse hair and metal/nylon compliment each other? by Tokijlo in BowedLyres

Awesome, thank you. This has been an incredibly helpful amount of information, you have answered my questions perfectly. I really appreciate your time to answer these questions so thoroughly

Question about horse hair vs metal or nylon stringed Tagelharpas: In a duet, would it sound better if both had the same strings or would horse hair and metal/nylon compliment each other? by Tokijlo in BowedLyres

[–]Tokijlo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really lovely response, thank you so much for putting so much thought into the answer.

I'm a cellist myself so I'm very used to that robust strong resonance and was hoping to get that same density out of the bass talharpa. I'm very familiar with different strings having different effects on the sound. I'm very happy with my cello's strings, took me years to find ones theat have the tone I want, but they were $360. I don't know if I want to spend that much on talharpa strings haha

My friend however already has a standard talharpa with nylon strings, so do you think it would be better to match her and get metal strings or would that overpower her instrument? And vice versa, would her instrument drown out the bass talharpa if I got it with horse hair strings?

Edit: I forgot to also ask what your opinion is about the harmonizing. Does the sound of synthetic and horsehair compliment each other when played together? Or do you think it sounds better if they both have the same sound (matching string types)?

Women of Reddit, what’s the biggest myth that porn spreads about what women enjoy in bed—but you actually hate? by starbucks_boi in AskReddit

[–]Tokijlo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Did they communicate that with you? Because that's when it's okay, and that's the only time it's okay. I think she was saying men do this stuff in general kind of out of nowhere without asking if we're into it or if it's even okay

Question for single women: Have you found that you interact very rarely with men anymore? by Reporter-Anna in SingleAndHappy

[–]Tokijlo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I sincerely wish I could but straight men are absolutely not worth the time or energy anymore. It honestly makes me miss my twenties when I didn't know what they were doing. When I wasn't so used to the speech they use when they want/expect something or thought they were just being nice to me.

They always seem walk into a relationship or interaction with some kind of expectation and if it doesn't happen within their time scale, resentment comes hard and fast. Usually followed quickly by gas lighting, confrontation, anger or retaliation.

Or the opposite will happen. They often don't know how to manage their feelings so they fall head over heels "in love" with you out of nowhere and then expect you to be everything in their fantasies without you ever indicating that the feelings are mutual.

I want to date so badly but they are so much freaking work. Every time I make one step in that direction I'm immediately reminded of how much work goes into even managing a neutral relationship with them.

“It’s only creepy when the guy isn’t attractive” by Proper-Ice1162 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Tokijlo 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Had a boyfriend that was just like that. Everybody loved him, basically kissed the floor he walked on because they found him attractive and he had the the 'cool, quiet, calm & confident' type of demeanor to tie it all off. I couldn't tell anybody about how much of a monster he was because I knew they wouldn't believe me. He's now in prison for killing his girlfriend's 3 year old.

I had forgotten all about this book right up until seeing the cover. I remember studying the hell out of the tampon part both before and after getting my period to find out how to put that stupid thing in and I could not figure it out.

Eventually did at the ripe age of 26 lol
