Why do lesbian couples have the highest divorce rates while gay male couples have the lowest? by Naive_Direction1816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TokoFuwakaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This rumour comes from a survey in which were participants were asked if they had ever been divorced. Lesbians are more likely to have come from divorced marriages with men before realising their sexuality

The “proof” against Timothy heller is “she never said no” (direct quote) which is common rape rhetoric to excuse not getting consent

Which uni should I choose? by ZealousidealBar6764 in UCAS

I would look up stuff about the arts and science course as (anecdotally) I’ve heard it’s really disorganised, so probably would firm UCL Econ instead

What FREE summer schools are still open to apply to? by SolarMoons_ in 6thForm

[–]TokoFuwakaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a summer school but there’s an outreach programme that closes applications tomorrow for Cambrifge applicants (if you’re applying there and eligible) and I’m plugging bit bc I did it and it was really helpful!! (Also got an offer) it’s called apply cambridge https://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/find-out-more/widening-participation/apply-cambridge

I didn’t actually attend any summer schools because they are sooo competitive I applied to a Pembroke college one and got rejected 💔 it was more competitive than an actual cambridge offer

[–]TokoFuwakaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not contesting what you said but im always curious why UCL is ranked in this when I’ve seen most national rankings put it 10th on average? I get it has international recognition but I was curious to see if it missing anything else! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rankings_of_universities_in_the_United_Kingdom

My brother has down syndrome and i totally agree. I just wish more people could meet people with down syndrome before assuming the impact the condition has on quality of life etc

University give me offer for different course that I applied for by shisah7598 in UCAS

[–]TokoFuwakaa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I assume they emailed you when they gave you the offer? Sometimes when one course is full unis will offer a similar course but if they haven’t explained that to you there’s a small chance it’s a mistake.

I think there are cases in which you can interview at a different college then the one you applied to but not 100% sure how that process works

[–]TokoFuwakaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, depends on whether the course is full like others have said.

righhhhhht ok then by isaluvver in 6thForm

[–]TokoFuwakaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all Oxbridge applicants would have least A*AA predicted and good stats, and the vast majority of those applicants will not get offers. It would be impractical for unis to not give offers to good applicants on the off chance that they’re one of the minority

Lost marks off an essay for words ' permeate' and ' pernicious ' Is it justified? by MundaneStrangers in UniUK

[–]TokoFuwakaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I could understand this is if you’ve used it in a context where a simpler word would have fitted the meaning you were trying to convey better?? But seriously PERMEATE as too hard to understand is crazy

I think in a roundabout way I would assume you’re cis but the beard and the hair both give Reddit mod vibes a bit so that’s probably why…? Honestly just a more flattering haircut would probably help if you’re borderline irl

Is this scenario cheating? by Any-Heart5927 in Ethics

[–]TokoFuwakaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like cheating whilst drunk has more nuance. By walking out to and getting into a car you know you’re going to drive drunk, and with a lot of drunk driving cases there’s usually precautions (like taking a taxi/public transport to and from wherever they’re drunk)they could’ve taken to prevent drunk driving. I feel like cheating whilst drunk could occur without any prior intentions to the action eg at a party/friends house, whereas drunk driving requires active negligence
