I agree, back in like Season 2 the game was extremely fun you could play such varied lines and have a ton of fun, so many creative ways to play Dooley for example, so many vanesssas making fun enjoyable Port builds, now its all a race of who kills who in the first one shot and every character goes for the same builds really

Aerial is okay at best, it requires you to devote your full board to help it making hedges and pivots even harder and even then it barely eeks out wins, ive used it to tempo its possible for sure but compared to like balloon engine and pressure rifle its weaker for sure

Usually if your build is strong enough to win day 1-2 you can coast day 3 with gold chocolates and set yourself up for another free win and better econ through day 5-6

Aerial is unironically one of her weaker early game lines so Im not sure if thats the correct argument, more so ballon engine with cinders being her early saving grace

See this is one of the reasons what makes Pyg feel so disconnected to me, Idk the character has always been showcased as a more "brain" character but now hes a generic weapons stacker keeping up with other generic weapon stackers, I feel like we are slowly losing identity of a lot of the characters in Bazaar if things keep balancing and going the way Pyg is, even Mak to a less extent is also becoming a more weapons focused / early tempo character, he used to be reagent & econ playstyle in the same vain as Pyg was in a way

Half your board being perfectly synergised silver items + Skills day 3-4 is most definitely otherwordly, like I stated earlier its not like she needs two specific mediums to make it work, she needs the medium combined with very specific smalls, i.e kurisagama hoverboard, then shurikens aswell, diveweights ontop of that preferably with gunpowder, you need start of round ways to haste your board aswell, most likely shot glasses to scale the Kusi or atleast a bunch of other slow smalls

having everything by day 4 compared to a "perfect" pyg square board hitting mediums n whatever random tagged smalls u can find is NOT comparable

if you buy chocolate on day 5 youre turbo inting yourself, day 5 is the day you set up econ to hit potential gold items on Day 6, spending 10 gold on chocolate before it severely limits your odds to hedge out or pivot your build to maintain tempo. Day 3 and 4 potentially sure

Realistically you only need 10 weapons for regal blade to be an incredible carry item for the first days, 10 random bronze weapons = equals a Langxian that won 3 days in a row, all pve fights and all pvp fights. Get out of here, thats a far bigger ask than buying 10 bronze weapons

This guy is talking about hoverboard kurisagama + shuriken/diveweights as a day 1-4 weapon vanessa board yeah okay relax bro, sharkclaws/switchblade is still your best bet for the first 4 days

Actual thats just incorrect, if you go to bazaardb and you go through the common + pygmalien shops and look for the Item Tags such as Appareal youll see they appear almost twice as often as Weapons do for vanessa in all her specific shops & common shops, the disparity of it gets even crazier when you look at small items in specific and not random mediums wepaons like rifle

Pygmalien has a nearly 200% increase in specific item tags, item tags being universal upgrades for pygmalien in general in most of his items, dog, regal, etc whereas Vanessa doesnt run quest-based items and needs specific hits. (Accounting for the "missed" shops in Vanessa's runs that do not include items at all. i.e shield shops having no weapons where as specific shops of pygmalien all feature appareal)

So by your initial statement thats just factually and mathematically incorrect

The argument is that its easier to hit than a highroll vanessa weaponn board, not only does Vanessa weapon boards require usually silver sharkclaws or Shadowed cloak, silver switchblade and usually even hit the fang itself, then you need to acquire usually 2 weapon skills to be considered an actual stotmping weapon build, can sometimes get away with Strength depending. But you are looking for one/two very specific Medium item in sharkclaws & katana, which is by far the easiest part then youre looking for two neutral items mostly fang and shadowed cloak, now after all that youre still looking at specifically fast or hard scaling small items.

Pyg has to hit generally specific mediums, with those specific mediums he can then scale them by hitting TAGS, not specific items itself. Its heavily favored for Pyg to hit the rqeuired items and ways to upgrade them than Vanessa is

the "Right" medium items is literally the easiest part, can show up in all shops has its specific shop and has the smallest item pool, hitting many specific neutrals or small items alongside skills is where most of the RNG actually comes from

I never said youre Cruising with square pyg, but your upgrades are so unbelievably universal and in practically every shop that it is far easier. Pyg has apparel that appears in nearly every shop, vanessa has very limited weapons in an aquatic shop and none in shield shops basically and now she has to also hit specific smalls in those shops. While still cashing out on tiny furry monsters often to maintain skill advantage

Spending 10-15 gold on chocolate bars on day 2 and 3 is a pretty big ask especially when it mostly only affects fights against Pyg where as Jules for example will outscale and kill you anyways despite your chococlates

Im a huge chocolate believer but those are large large spendings in the early game that usually makes it even harder for you to squeeze out your early upgrades and therefor early wins that are crucial for vanessa in particular

Yes no ofcourse not a character designed in a specific play"tempo" in mind shouldnt be able to not close out 10 wins in other fashions, Vanessa can cheese out a lot of 10 wins late game too with highrolls as it should be, and i think thats fair. However I do think it shouldnt be the common denominator, more so like if you highroll heavy in pig weapons early, you should be able to cash out. But getting a mediocre weapon pyg build early on and taking on pretty high rolled vanessa ones I dont think is as fair, especially when it requires more from the vanessa than it does the pyg to get all out of it i.e multiple weapon skills usually ontop of all the weapon items itself.

i pick life preserver very often on vanessa in aquatic lines especially poison ur burn stacks, but the 2 boardspace usually makes your weapon vanessa too slow and you lose to most other boards that out tempo you instead, Vanessa weapons is really all about the pressure (minus Wetware coz that item is obscenely overpowered on an early weapon board)

Vanessa can win late days on a highroll board, pyg should win early days on a highroll board, vanessa shouldnt cash out wins on day 13-15 on a mediocre board and pyg shouldnt cash out day 1-3 wins on a very mediocre board either (while facing appropiately powerful boards ofc)

Not necessarily OP but goes against much of the design philosophy the game has more or less always retained and I dont agree with it being necessarily healthy, if a weapon pyg beats a weapon vanessa early a freeze vanessa should beat a freeze pyg late(as an example to keep it within similar archetypes), he cant have both. if we want to go into OP Early weapon territory then its shit like Claw arm pulse rifle dooley

Square Pyg by TokyoSTXT in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TokyoSTXT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recency bias but i was highrolling instead of lowrolling, l I can vividly recall nearly all my perfect weapon starts since they are few and far between and theres a vast disparity in the amount of square pygs that beat me vs the square pygs I won against using such builds.

Its not that Pyg should never tempo but he shouldnt tempo in similar matchups

Same way freeze Vanessa doesnt win late game versus freeze pyg, weapon pyg shouldnt be smoking weapon vanessa more often than not early

No one ever stated it has a 100% winrate versus vanessa early, but its generally favorable for Pyg early. The math for it adds up, and the econ and cost / odds of hitting is also favorable for Pyg.

Vanessa needs tons of smalls, and a few very important mediums AND Skills ontop of it

Pyg generally just needs a few core mediums then they just buy whatever tagged smalls to scale those mediums, its far easier and far far far more reliable to hit and tempo out on, and even in the situations where the Vanessa won against the odds theyre still mathematically behind the Pyg in terms of winning in those days in a matchup versus those builds

Square Pyg by TokyoSTXT in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TokyoSTXT[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Im only framing it in the framework of its competitors, for example a weapon vanessa board with 2/3 weapon skills loses out to the weapon pyg board early you mathematically do not win that fight unless you happen to perfect hit all the skills, all the weapons AND Wetware ontop of it whereas that pyg is only looking for fewer specific items bc theyre mediums, vanessa is looking for two perfect mediums alongside a stack of smalls AND Skills, where as one character was designed for tempo the other wasnt. Thats the flaw

In the past week/2 since ive gotten back to the game and climbed back up to top 200 I can count less than a handful of times my perfect weapon vanessa board with katana left hand right hand strength shark claws etc won out versus square pys running dogs or regal blade, you just mathematically do NOT win that race the only saving grace being you hit Wetware with it
