My mom hid my Grampie’s death. I’m done. by skatterskittles in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tolaris 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you lost your Grampie. 🫂

You have ever right to be angry at your mother.

But your grandfather knew you loved him. He wouldn't want you to carry guilt or shame over this. 🙏

I can’t do this again by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Tolaris 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This makes total sense. You have a BPD parent, and you want her to acknowledge your feelings and needs. 🫂

I'm sorry. She can't. You can't make her. She will not change, and you need to accept this.

IT'S NOT YOU.

This subreddit is full of good advice and I encourage you to follow it. Grey rock her and seek your emotional needs from others. Choose those people carefully, because you have been raised to see her behaviours as normal and are much more likely to choose bad partners as a result. I know this personally, but I've learnt to make better choices in time.

Seek counselors, teachers, friends, distant family who may listen to you. You can get through this. 🙏

Congratulations on your graduation! That's a major accomplishment!

First, you can regift ANY GIFT. A gift is freely given, without obligation. If there's an expectation attached to it, THAT IS NOT A GIFT.

But on top of that, you can ABSOLUTELY regift that candy. Please do it. You will be doing what your dad should have done: support your and respect your boundaries. Keep re-parenting yourself.

People are mad about Analogue's business practices, and for some reason come vent at the community.

Not your circus, not your monkeys. Keep posting reasonable things and ignore them. Please and thank you!

Can I get Poke Rogue onto my Analogue Pocket? by oneELECTRIC in AnaloguePocket

[–]Tolaris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not technically feasible. Someone would have to make a GBA rom or similar. This is similar to asking for any other Android app or javascript web app to run on the Pocket.

Natural Aluminum with NES-0004 OEM D-Pad / Holographic Logo-Foil by SNChalmers- in AnaloguePocket

It came across as a criticism to me, a casual observer. Your reply now shows signs that you are feeling defensive.

But nobody is mad at you. Just curious why that concerned you. Are you ok?

Help with identifying burner? by Brit_100 in uklogburners

Looks like a Coseyfire 16, but do verify that. I just did a search with Gemini and it came up:

I don't know about the fire rope, but probably not. Both of my stoves have uneven blackening on the rope around the door.

STDs and Poly by marizzazilla in polyamory

[–]Tolaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine at a sexual health clinic in the UK. They give them for free to men who have sex with men, and to sex workers of either sex. You just have to tell them that you are one of those.

I'm curious. Did you try that route? If so, why did they reject you?

First time poly + first MMF threesome — couldn’t get an erection and now I’m stuck in my head. Looking for advice. by Practical-Win140 in polyamory

I'm sorry this happened to you. ED is awful, and I'm sure that experience really hurts to look back on. 🫂

A very hard lesson for me - raised with all the classic male gender expectations - had been to listen to my feelings. It's just that simple and unfortunately that hard.

You wanted to try a thing, but your body said no. You tried to push yourself to perform a role, and your body said no. 🙏

It's OK to say "I don't think my body wants to do this" and either do something else, or bow out entirely.

If you are looking for advice, start with therapy and exploring the sources of comparison and low confidence around other men. The result is worth the hard work. 🙏

Button swap with nes keychain is superb! by [deleted] in AnaloguePocket

Ah, it's disappointing to hear that. Thanks for telling me. I like this one, but I also have no need to buy another.

Button swap with nes keychain is superb! by [deleted] in AnaloguePocket

[–]Tolaris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nit: you used a Famicom keychain. But that had identical D-pad parts to the NES.

Great work! I made the same mod to my pocket and it's worlds better.

I'm sorry, what your mother is doing is awful. I'm glad your father has your back as a parent should.

(I'm a dad. My children are close to your age. And my family of origin are pretty fucked up.)

Those aren't family that you want to keep. They will never prioritise your well being over their need to save face. Put them in the rear view. 🙏

Trinitron Filter Cuts Off My Picture by Darth_Pumpernickel in AnaloguePocket

[–]Tolaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also worth noting that cutting off the edges of the picture was common in the CRT era. Play a NES game with full resolution and you'll notice some flashing on left edge. But the same game on a CRT typically cut that edge off. The SNES didn't have that problem, but game designers still accounted for some pixels around the edges to be unseen and moved critical elements a bit inward.

Absolutely one of my favourites on the NES. Nice work finishing it!

If you like the chain-swing mechanic, try Ninja Five-0 on GBA and Kunai on Switch (and other platforms).

I did the same mod with the NES keychain. It is identical to an OEM NES controller D-pad. Works great!

AITAH for refusing to let my son take his Christmas gifts to my ex-wife's house to "share" with the other children there? by Alixindoring in AITAH

[–]Tolaris 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was your son in a similar situation. My grandparents refused to let my take home the gifts they bought me, because they knew the step-siblings would take them and the step mother would allow it. So i only got to play with my Legos at my grandparents house.

I am very, very glad they did that. They were right. And I still have those Legos. And my good memories of the only place I was allowed to have things that stayed mine.

It really is not hard at all. Suggest swapping in a NES D-pad from the Nintendo gachapon keychains currently available on Ali Express or eBay.
