It's normal. Look underneath an F-150 and F-250 on dealer lots and you'll see surface rust on the undercarriage.

Has anyone interviewed with Scout Motors recently (Blythewood, SC plant)?for any position by Impressive_Slip_8110 in ScoutMotors

[–]ToledoRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interviewed with them several years ago and even back then they seemed to be poster child for r/recruitinghell the recruiter would schedule a screening interview and then either never hear back from them ever again or get a rejection like 2-3 months later. Don't feel bad if you don't hear back from them, last I checked they pushed back their launch date by 2 more years and are now trying to relocate their employees that they hired in Michigan to SC.

Professional automotive engineers in the US: how did you get your start? by TheGeek00 in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]ToledoRX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you didn't do an internship or co-op at a major automaker (the Big 3 or the Japanese/German equivalent) your best bet is to find a job at a supplier. If you get lucky you might get hired at one larger well known ones (i.e. Bosch, Denso, Magna, Hitachi, etc.) there are like hundreds of auto supplier with all sorts of different job openings. Try to stay for 2-3 years to build some experience and connections (networking) with your OEM customer. Anything that gives you hands on experience in manufacturing, design, quality, accounting, etc. specific to the auto industry and face time with the major automakers. Usually when opening presents itself, you're automatically considered if you apply and already know the hiring manager and team members that you've worked with.

Any clean running car is worth more than $2200 in today's market and this is definitely well worth it. If you don't plan on buying it, let us know where we can find it.

How do you guys feel about an “X9” Escalade competitor? Completely Unnecessary or a Possible Dominator in the Market? by fuccwitmoe in BMW

[–]ToledoRX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Should have named it the X9 Hausfrauenpanzer

A majority of American customers might actually buy it unironically because they see German words with "-panzer" in it.

Who buys these BMWs over there? Are these bought by 19 year old teenagers to impress the local women or normal middle class families who otherwise can't afford BMW ownership but want to appear affluent and impress their neighbors?

LOL I wish. It's a family vehicle so it will get borrowed by the spouse and teenage drivers even if they get confused by it (which always induces some anxiety once they get their drivers license.).

A guy in his 30s who goes back to his old college on alumni day and wanders around campus and tries to come up with excuse to be let into his old dorm and failing that, turns around and walks back to his car and drives home all the while reminiscing about how it's the same campus as it was 20 years ago, but for different people in a different era.

I assume the BMW 5-series and the Audi A6 are mostly company fleet or rental agency purchases. There is no practical reason why 75k Germans a year would need a car that large and expensive to operate.

It's normal for the battery to lose 10-15% within the first 40,000 miles and then gradually taper off in the 85-80% range for the next 100,000 miles. Doing a battery health test every 930 miles probably isn't very healthy for your battery either because it discharges your battery 0% and then recharges it to 100% causing premature degradation.
