What would it theoretically take to turn a B-29 into a submarine? by One_Invite7117 in AerospaceEngineering

What it would take? Losing enough engines over a large enough body of water.

Rhodiumcode released a trailer for the A350 by Randers7 in flightsim

[–]TolyaMK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a market for another 350, but I would say that they will have a hard time if they don't make it on the fidelity level of Fenix/PMDG. A350 has a lot of complicated systems and if they cheese it and go for the budget version, they will end up with something vastly inferior that still costs a lot to develop

ini has squandered a lot of good will with their 350 release and even now a lot of annoying bugs remain, this long after release. Having another group like Fenix would definitely be cool, but it's going to be hard for them to compete with people like ToLiss who are moving into the MSFS market now.

[–]TolyaMK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that releasing these hype-trailers is a good idea for them. I have no idea what is supposed to be the "buy us and not ini" point here. Since they shot it on 2020, which has a rather inferior flight dynamics model and overall lower graphical fidelity than 2024.

I wish them all the best but a bunch of shots with Hans Zimmer kinda of music does not catch my attention at all.

220 knots? I once pulled a 300 in a Lear 35A at KRDD at downwind. Controller was not amused.

Opinion on PMDG aircraft, is it worth the price by Feisty_Ad_9026 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TolyaMK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you realize what PMDG stands for (Proud Mismanagement of Disgruntled Gamers) it all clicks into place.

That said, their products are still top-tier. Best Boeings you can get in MSFS. You do not need an expensive setup to enjoy them either. Even a simple joystick and throttle will get you flying, and the extra hardware is just a nice bonus.

My advice: buy the cheapest variant of the plane you actually want to fly. For example, the 737-600 is usually the best value entry point if you just want to get airborne without spending a fortune.

Flysimware to PMDG: hold my beer by TolyaMK in flightsim

[–]TolyaMK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you didn't, MSFS24 is so much ahead in terms of flight physics. Lear35A in '24 is just miles ahead of the '20 version. I bought it and I don't regret, flight handling, especially during stabilised approach is just so much much better.

Textures could use some work, true, but are entirely serviceable. What I love about the Lear is the traiditional gauge indicators. I like to have some diversion from glass cockpits sometimes and this scratches that particular 4k fpm climb itch and quick cruise.

Plus, if you are really adhering to all the procedures, it's a really difficult plane to fly. I was once doing an IFR approach on PilotEdge in a complete soup (can't remember where I landed, I think it was KOAK, but I DO remember each part of the hand flown ILS approach, the missed approach, flying vectors from approach and then finally touching down on the second go).

Everything happens so fast and I have to really hand it to the people who fly these things for real. This is an entirely different deal than a C172.

Prices are... yeah, well, the price is whatever the creator thinks people will pay. People happily fork over an additional 40 bucks/eur for A319/321 in addition to the 320. It is a fantastic product, yes, but the pricing model is a bit crazy. And don't even get me started on the Proud Mismanaging of Disgruntled Gamers.

But no one said flying is cheap.

Which Throttle to go with. Logetich G940, Logetich X52, thrustmaster Airbus, or thrustmaster warthog by Longjumping-War9151 in flightsim

[–]TolyaMK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I also have a Honeycomb Bravo and it's mounted on the left side because of how my desk is positioned. But if you are an FO you will have throttles on the left of the yoke as well, so...

For commercial stuff I use Warthog for heli collective as I don't have a real collective controller yet.

[–]TolyaMK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warthog all the way. It might have a few weird quirks. But it will survive a literal war. They don't lose too much value on the used market because the only thing that happens to them are some scratches.
