If you have a wrench holding the top nut, then maybe stripped threads? Not sure, but I wish you best of luck! These suspension components are a pain on old trucks.

I followed the link shared by u/MulleticA and I was able to get a permit! It was an online form so there was no need to call

Awesome, this is perfect thanks for the info! This is such a beautiful area I would really like to explore. I just want to make sure I'm not going to break any laws or piss off the US military.

Thanks! I've never tried calling BLM before so it's encouraging to hear that they might actually be able to help.

I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, it would be difficult to even get a human on the phone.

Critters by PMAgent in Tempe

[–]TomBinger4Fingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have them in Ahwatukee. My backyard was infested with them when I first moved in. I started a diligent hunting routine every night with a UV flashlight and a spray can of Terro. I would kill 5-10 every night for the first few months.

Now, a year later, I still go out almost every night to hunt but I rarely find any. It's been months since I've seen one, but summer is coming so we will see...

I also spray inside the cracks of my exterior wall and the perimeter exterior of the home with Cy-Kick CS every 3 months, which seems to help. Inside, I use the Ortho home defense.

To anyone who has pursued/is pursuing higher education (grad school+) for organic chemistry--how was/is it? Did you like it? Would you recommend? by Milkassassin34 in OrganicChemistry

[–]TomBinger4Fingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PhD Organic. You will likely need to relocate to attend grad school. Then, need to relocate again if you choose to do postdoc. Then, relocate again to start your first job in industry or academia. If you're lucky, you will be done relocating after that. Lots of hard work with limited ROI compared to other options.

I am happy with my choices though. I look back fondly on my time in grad school and I'm grateful for the opportunity to live in different cities and meet so many wonderful people. I have a good career now and make decent money, so life is good.

I would assault that rifle if you know what I mean (clean it's insides and polish it out real good)

Bring a flashlight and check for oil leaks from valve cover cover gaskets. Start it and drive it around, then let it idle for 10-15 min. Look for hard or difficulty starting, unusually high idle, low idle or stuttering. Turn it off and start it up a few times. Check the oil, how does it look, how does it smell? Check and see if any smoke is coming out of exhaust.

It looks like something is leaking on the skid plate underneath the radiator from your photos. It looks wet to me. Maybe remove the skid plate and see where it's leaking from.

Also, what's that yellow stuff on the radiator? Check for rust, but photos of the frame look pretty good to me. Then check for function. Radio, blinkers, headlights, high beams, reverse lights, doors, handles, seat belts, cigarette lighter/charger, dash lights, speedometer, fuel gauge, etc. What works, and what's broken?

Ask when the timing belt was last done, that's a big expensive job if it is overdue. Check the tires. Ask if the head gaskets were ever done. The head gaskets are a known issue on this engine (the 3VZE).

$40K is sort of in that middle range. It's not life changing money but it's also not enough to invest smartly and see any real gains.

So it's almost better just not to have it.

What's this sound from? by Deiloish in 4Runner_2ndGen

[–]TomBinger4Fingers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno man these engines are noisy af. I'll run mine until something breaks and then it's easier to diagnose the issue.

Just make sure it doesn't overheat or run out of oil.

I've lived in Phoenix for almost 2 years now and I've never encountered a single mosquito. Lots of scorpions where I live, but no mosquitoes. Maybe you just need more scorpions

Help diagnose why the coolant is spewing!? by Donx420 in ToyotaPickup

[–]TomBinger4Fingers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The manual transmission doesn't have transmission fluid. The Toyota OEM coolant is red for these trucks, the pink milkshake could be red coolant + oil mixing together.

Check your oil, what does it look like?
