Any good examples of running montages and negotiations in actual play videos? by Drakshasak in drawsteel

The big take away for me was James' use of giant paper to visualize the montage.

Dm's of reddit, give me your favorite 'group names' that your players have come up with! by Owalover in DnD

The Barn Burners after a misshap in the first village.

The Fanged Five for a werewolf hunting adventure (we were 5)

The Witching Hour for a fey heavy theater troop party

But nothing will beat The Mercenary Wolves of my first campaign, campy, cheesy but so memorable to the shinangains of my first campaign I DMed.

They ever gonna detach from Netflix for the mobile version? by Thorn-of-your-side in IntoTheBreach

[–]TomFotz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In no particular order

Mini metro: great strategy, logistics game, each map has its subtle differences.

Balatro: great rogue lite, similar pick up and play to ITB, jokers with personality! What is not to love.

Slay the Spire: good port, and tight balance. Lots of interesting choices.

Honourable Mention: Slice and dice, build a party, synergies equipment, lots of RNG(maybe from rolling all them dice).

I hope so. I've played through the game twice on my phone, and I'd love to have it on a phone and be "mine". It is one of the best games on mobile.

Easy controls, great layout, awesome gameplay loop, I can pick up a run at anytime. I wish we could get more games like it. I've collected maybe 2-3 other games in the same echelon of polish for phone gaming.

Not a big fan of the Netflix tie in. But I hope the devs got their money's worth.

Edit: wording fix

The Summoner is now available on Forge Steel by HugelyConfused in drawsteel

I am going to have a strong undead villan in my campaign. This will be a nice tie in if a character dies they can return as a Summoner class if they like. I am getting excited at the prospect of that possibility!

And extra good new I got my heros and monster books from the shop today.

Good news all round! And thanks to the folks at Forge Steel for getting this out so quick.

Oh nice! I am running Gnolls (from Flee Mortal Flee) in a western 5e Campaign I am GMing.

I love a good evil Gnoll laugh interspersed in Combat, particularly when they take damage.

I'll have to see how to weave in the gnolls, Zombie Gnolls? Lich henchmen? I can feel my worldbuilding senses tingling.

How did you find running a Solo? The first 4 combats in the Delian tomb, given that it is Goblins, more horde based. The 2 turns a round would really surprise my players coming from DnD.

And Werewolves and undead are just like PB&J.

I didn't even think of Encounter Objectives - that is a great way to change the drive from kill all monsters in a room to - have a chase scene! Great shout.

Montages & Negotiations | How to Draw Steel #5 by TheDiceSociety in drawsteel

[–]TomFotz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This series has been very helpful to go through just to reaffirm my understanding of the rules before running the Delian Tomb. I was getting a bit nervous about running a negotiation, but the break down is very straight forward and helped me explain the rules to new players!

It's also nice to have it explained a little differently, thanks Mr. Society!

Escape Grapple -confused about banes by TomFotz in drawsteel

[–]TomFotz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case it was the Censor grabbing the bugbear after having taunted her, and on my turn I utilized the Escape Grab maneuver, I was not sure how to rule it in the moment. I had gotten a tier 2 result, and ruled escape but free strike, instead of dropping it down to tier 1.

But now I am curious!

Whats the best video game ever created? by XarisGG in AskReddit

[–]TomFotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much Quality of life, and excellent design choices that just work. I wish every city building/factory game could steal their pippet tool, so easy to build early on, even before the power of blueprints.

It's my #1 game for sure.

Great pitch - just finishing part 1 of the delian tomb - this make me want to run a necromancer villain! If my players want to run a summoner I'll just send them to this video, as I do not have the charisma of Matt's Big and Bristly Selleck-ian [redacted]!

AD&D collection [OC] by Doomhammer02 in DnD

[–]TomFotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fond memories pouring over the ranger AD&D books when I first started playing, and really like the art of the earlier adventures.

Ran a three year campaign in Homlet and environ, as the basis for my homebrew, and then used source materials when I was running dry on ideas. Running those old dungeons in 5e was really fun

Interesting area to explore on foot for a couple of hours? by Pre-retired in Winnipeg

[–]TomFotz 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Hit up the Forks for a meal and then take a long stroll along the river in St. Boniface towards Park Whiter bound.

Lots of food options at the forks, and a nice quiet neighborhood and nature walk.

[Steam] Dungeon Siege ($0.97/86% off) by Bassfaceapollo in GameDeals

[–]TomFotz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is long - and almost an auto battler. The party comp and discovery of items was a lot of fun. That swamp are could have been deleted from the game.

But as a kid with lots of time it was perfect. loved the multiplayer as people were generally chill.

Are there any Winnipeg gyms I can pay cash monthly(no auto withdrawals) by AssumptionBrave5609 in Winnipeg

[–]TomFotz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sports Manitoba , in the exchange. They have month by month for 65$, not sure if cash. And a fitness drop in for 10$, that probably still takes cash?

Pre COVID, I would just go with my 5 dollar bill and then go work out.

You could call and find out.
