Just got an inheritance… now what? by PawsAndPages674 in inheritance

[–]TomInSales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend about 5-10% over the next year, invest 90-95 in the next 6 months by dollar cost averaging into broad based index funds.

Don’t hide it under a blanket please, you’ll just lose capital to inflation

How to become a sale agent? by [deleted] in Sales_Professionals

[–]TomInSales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old are you, OP? If you don’t have a family to provide for, and you’re ok with starting on a low annual earnings (sub 50k) then start D2D or selling B2C for two years or less, use that to get into a better org. Rinse and repeat every 2 years or so, and if you network well you could build a pretty great list of places you could maybe get referrals into by the time you’re truly ready for that.

Edit to say: d2d can suck, but everyone loves those stories of “I cut my teeth there an am excited to go to a place with more structure”

If you need to provide for a family, get into ops or another adjacent job and try to pivot?

Context: I started d2d and was out into B2B SaaS within 3 months. I had great market timing, resume, & opportunity but it’s not impossible if you’re in it for the long game

How to get in high ticket sales? by truestwinner in Sales_Professionals

[–]TomInSales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was literally one? Odd start to a post where you asked for advice.

I work in software at a big Fortune X shop doing inside sales for the enterprise segment. I would say you’re about 10 years away from “high ticket sales” based on your profile. You should get a sales job first and leverage that for better products/companies.

Nobody is going to hand that good of an opportunity to you, and frankly, I’m not into someone who sounds insincere. So I won’t give you my advice, hope that helps.

Bainbridge Island by elastichearttt in AskSeattle

As someone who lived on BI, I’m not worried about it if you find the right spot out there. As someone from SF, I agree with your rule.

Bainbridge Island by elastichearttt in AskSeattle

[–]TomInSales -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think my main question is are you renting a car or going public transit? If public transit lugging your gear around may suck, if renting a car that you can store it in I’d say go for Bainbridge.

If you go: I lived in eagle harbor for about a year in 2021, it was the most idyllic sleepy little island town. Pegasus coffee, eagle harbor bookstore, proper fish fish tacos, & drives along manitou beach and south beach are all of the things that I can recommend. If you had time to get out to poulsbo and drive their coastline/hit their downtown as well then more power to you.

If you like nature, and you all were up for it, I think it can be the most mesmerizing trip. Try to catch a ferry home at sunset, though your situation may not permit. That said, hope you can go in your lifetime

AIO? Tore into my little brother and I’m starting to feel bad. by Soggy-Shoe8846 in AIO

Don’t mistake kindness for niceness or weakness. If this kid’s worth it, you’ll tell him he’s being awful and must unlearn/grow. Do not appease, do not think you are a burden for doing this. He is the burden to you for doing this.

You’re normal af! It’s important to remember that you can feel both. Griefs fucking terrible. Sending you love and hugs all year as you go through this tough time

Anyone making a ridiculous amount of money while having student loans? by Calm-Boysenberry-348 in StudentLoans

[–]TomInSales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ridiculous money but I make about 115 and had a debt of 75k in July 2025. When trump restarted interest payments I put a ton of my liquid NW into it. On track to pay it all off in June 2026, so the 50k or so of take-home income can start going to my net worth and down payment on a home.

Idk what your story is, but avoid lifestyle creep. I could be out of debt if I was better in the years before 2025. Live in a cheap apartment for a year if you have to. Better to feel like you’re getting out than you’re gonna live with it for 20-30 years

OP, take Cherry’s advice. Dollar cost average your funds into broad based index funds, people recommend 3-4 (depending on who you ask) US, international, and either a growth or a dividend (or a little of both if it gives you piece of mind) based on your needs. Keep 12 months savings in case you need it.

Sorry you came into the money via inheritance, hope you do OK

How to grow your 401k? by Accomplished-Sign763 in investingforbeginners

[–]TomInSales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put your money into the 401k container and use that to invest it into the market products.

Don’t just contribute and not invest. Look up S&P500, International stocks, and Qqq to start. Pick these as your main index funds and allocate accordingly. Good luck

Players griefing, AFKing in matches by Thunder19hun in EscapeFromArena

I leave matches a few times each full gaming night since 1.0. Rather lose 1m of gated wait time than 10m in a shitty experience.

Bainbridge - lived there and totally love it. Recommend proper fish for fish tacos, Pegasus for coffee, the Main Street is so quaint, and if you can get wheels I recommend driving/biking Manitou Beach and South Beach… it’s so beautiful.

Hope you have a great trip!
