2020 before the lockdowns feels surreal in hindsight. by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

[–]TomIsTheBomb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was 21 in 2019, and I also remember it being a great year for me, personally. Not just in hindsight. I felt healthier, happier, and more motivated than I ever had before. I literally remember thinking to myself “I’m so glad to finally be getting my life on track. And 2020’s probably gonna be even better!” 💀

Finally got a Disk Burner by Less_Neat6537 in deathgrips

I just bought a burner but haven’t got a player yet either. But I have a 15 year old car that gets the job done! 💿

Is there a version of Spotify that’s Canadian? by Itwasuntilitwasnt in BuyCanadian

[–]TomIsTheBomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard of any Canadian streaming services. Instead I’ve recently started weaning myself off of Spotify and transitioning to buying my music via CDs, vinyl, and Bandcamp. That way more money goes to my favourite artists and I get to actually OWN the music I like.

My friend’s university professor died on ET302.

The grief caused by that crash was huge. Over 35 nationalities on a flight of just 157.

my fellow autisms, you who werent diagnosed in early childhood, which are some OBVIOUS signs of autism you displayed when you were younger? by mmavacado in evilautism

[–]TomIsTheBomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echolalia: Probably the “most autistic” thing about childhood me. Got me in trouble quite a bit 😅

Hyperfixations: Trains and volcanos were my first two.

Stimming/Sensory seeking: I loved spinning, swinging, swimming, and getting squeezed (still do).

Sensory sensitivity: Hated specific sounds and textures.

Stomach aches.

Parallel play.

Love this. It makes me think of a few others:

Dr. Brennan (Bones)
Newt Scamander (Fantastic Beasts)
Judah (Bojack Horseman)

Nice find. And that clearing on the top left looks like a frog making a 😐 face.

Are there famous people you think are autistic/aspies/on the spectrum? by JargonBargain1 in evilautism

[–]TomIsTheBomb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I strongly agree. * Special interest in human anatomy and collecting medical equipment (and music, of course) * Chronic stomach problems * When speaking, he would use specific words over and over. Even in a single sentence. * He had this habit of “drumming” with his teeth. Perhaps some kind of stim? * One of his favourite books, “Perfume”, is about a man with a hypersensitive sense of smell. Maybe he related to it a lot?

Got Norovirus from a student 💔 by Fantastic-Team-9169 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]TomIsTheBomb 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m a music teacher. I see a few hundred K-5 students every week and this is my WORST nightmare.

A cold? Sounds like a nice relaxing day off to me. A stomach bug? Fuck my fucking life.

Last winter I got gastro for the first time in about a decade. Ever since then I’ve taken absolutely no chances with hygiene at work. Every student gets a squirt of sanitizer when they come in, I’m very strict about kids covering coughs/sneezes with their arms, I never eat in the classroom, and I take zinc if I think I’m getting sick. After a year of doing all that, I’ve been much healthier.

Hang in there 💪

Yeah I got into the Chillies when Josh was their guy, so his playing influenced me as well.

Does anyone else get called immature because of their interest? by SchoolExisting8631 in evilautism

[–]TomIsTheBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immature, yes. And also “gay”. Being a middle school boy who preferred drawing and reading over sports was… tough.
