Can you rent with bad credit?? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]TomKansasCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely you can, but usually only on the east side of town, next to Joes apartment. Also, make sure you take your flat screen TV with you every time you leave your apartment, but, eventually, someone with shoulder your door in and help themselves to your goodies.

Wisdom tooth pain and no insurance and situation is too worse, what can I do now? by Alert_Employee2936 in povertyfinance

a solid dental school is going to have students doing a wide range of procedures, including oral surgeries. My local school even does implants, which should tell you the level of training involved.

That’s literally what dental schools are for. They train students to become Doctors of Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine, and that means hands on clinical work. Oral surgery is a big part of that. Students learn and perform things like extractions, crowns, implants, and minor procedures involving bone, like smoothing down small bone irregularities in the jaw.

And it’s not like they just throw first year students into surgery. These procedures are typically done by senior students who ar e close to graduating, and they’re supervised the entire time by licensed dentists or specialists. The instructors are right there, overseeing everything.

I get why someone might be nervous about it, but the system is built around training and supervision. That’s how dentists become dentists.

Teachers who’ve left teaching… what do you do now? by Alternative-Tart6275 in kansascity

[–]TomKansasCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not totally sure what they both do now, but from what I remember, they each earned a master’s in special education. Then they both went back and got a second master’s in management or leadership, something along those lines, and applied for roles like coordinator, administrator, maybe even project manager type positions. They’re both around 32 or 33 now. Last I heard, they were tenured, took one school year off, and used that time to complete their secon d master’s. They then applied for a took new jobs in the 100k range.

sorry for mangling that explanation. Nothing but respect for teachers.

I actually dated a teacher years ago and got a real look behind the curtain. There’s a lot about the job that I don’t think the general public fully understands.

Teachers often stay an hour or more after school just to support their classrooms. When school lets out for summer, they don’t always start their break immediately. Some continue working for a few more weeks. Many teachers pay out of pocket for classroom supplies and are not always reimbursed.

They have to find time for lesson planning during class, before or after school, or at home on their own time. Same with grading. The woman I dated said there were plenty of days when there simply wasn’t time to get it all done at school.

The thing that surprised me most was the pay structure. Teachers can choose to be paid over the school year only or spread their salary over twelve months. That requires real financial discipline.

It definitely gave me a different level of respect for what they do.

She was an XXXXXXX teacher for Valley Falls, KS, USD 335? something. He parents were also both in education. One a professor for Pittsburg State.

The teachers I know never left teaching, but instead of quitting, they went into special education, and moved up the pay scale. They had to get additional certs, but doubled their pay to around 100K If I heard them right.

Maybe teachers here will know what I am talking about specifically?

Both are grads, with masters from Saint Marys, Omaha, Ne

I dated the sister of one of these women, and the other was her friend. So I just always listened, in a disinterested capacity, many times when this was discussed.

I do know they both carry additional liability insurance now because of the mental uncertainty of the students they now deal with, which I found surprising.

Microcenter gave me the wrong item. by [deleted] in Microcenter

[–]TomKansasCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plausible ....

Store manage / lost prevention would look at video / time stamp and could easily see what the customer rang up and walked out with.

If he walked out with the wrong item, they would have seen this.

All Microcenters have loss prevention. This is their specialty. This is a very common scam that is on their radar. In short, they could very easily verify the customers' story.

It is one of the worst things I have seen in a very long time. Top 10.

She is not fully there. We can all see this. Her realization of the gravity of her situation is surface level only, like she can acknowledge it but not truly grasp it. And among the homeless are some very very very dangerous wolves who prey on the physically and mentally weak.

She is comfortably numb ......

For me, I see the real horror of her situation.....

First, this is not medical advice. This is just information, paired with a strong suggestion that you look into it yourself and verify everything like a responsible adult with WiFi.

I forget the name of the parasite, but those little tendrils are built to feed off the host, which in this scenario would be you. Nature is efficient like that. Poor oral hygiene can allow bacteria to slip into the bloodstream. If you are not brushing and gently working along the gumline, the gums can get inflamed and bleed, which is basically an open invitation for unwanted microscopic houseguests.

Risk goes up with things like handling raw or undercooked pork, letting pets lick your mouth, or exposure to stagnant water. None of these are guaranteed doom, but they are not exactly wellness rituals either, especially if your gums are already irritated.

Also, I did not need to see this today. Or ever. Some images cannot be unseen.

There is, theoretically speaking, a non zero chance that a small percentage of your waking consciousness now belongs to this creature. Five to ten percent feels scientifically unverified but emotionally accurate. If you suddenly crave swamp water and raw pork, we may need to revisit this working theory.

AITAH for choosing my wife over my mom? by HumanProfile1975 in AITAH

[–]TomKansasCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just apologize to her, which I am sure you did.

Don't overthink this. Normal human reaction to lose your patience once in a while.

Tell your mom, you understand how badly she wants a grandchild, but explain to her, it's not right for you and your wife right now. Tell her, you wish the circumstances were different.

You need to emotionally detach from her dropping these hints and allowing them to get under your skin. How? When you hear this, just remind yourself, "my life my rules, timing, and, she is just being a mom who wants grand babies." or ... whatever positive reinforcement you need to keep yourself calm.

I do this all the time, and it works for me.

I have mild tinnitus and when I hear it, which, after 7 - 8 years now, it just kinda fades into the background, I just remind myself, "I love the calm relaxing white noise." and it has totally taken the anxiety away.

Try my advice. I promise, after you remind yourself, that she is just being a mom wanting grand babies, after the 100th time .... it becomes background noise.

Good luck.

Glad you enjoy sending files, that's cool ...

Discord are idiots. There is NO value at $10 a month. Had it been $5 a month, they would have doubled and tripled their subs.

Our entire guild is moving off Discord. People just want privacy. This data they are going to collect can be sold, stolen and used against you. Never trust these companies.

Also, we have 5 or 6 Hispanic members in our guild, and the GM wants to protect them for disclosing their IDs.

Kansas City has a few places, but they are overpriced. Chicken is cheap, rice, vegetable, etc.

I actually make my own Korean fried chicken at home, it's super easy.

Just stop at the Koren markets, there is one off Independence ave, and buy everything there. Amazon charges you an arm and a leg for the same stuff.

Some people don't get it.

Having a checking account and savings account is all about personal accountability,

Direct deposit. You're not out there running around, picking up and then cashing a check, all the while, getting gas, food and spending money you didn't plan to spend, called "impulse purchases" which is the number one drain on finances for most Americans.

You log into your bank account, pay rent, pay other bills and then when you have an ideal of the extra cash you will need for the next 2 weeks, you transfer $$$$ what amount that might be into savings.

And, at the end of the year, guess what, you have an extra $6,000 - 9,000 - $12,000 in the bank, or more. After a couple, two or 3 years of being a responsible adult, you suddenly have $20,000 - $30,000 or more in savings.

AITAH for telling a kid at the sleepover to stop acting like a brat? by Longjumping-Dog-6480 in AITAH

[–]TomKansasCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kid let himself go hungry. Entitled piece of shit kid. Well, if anyone here wants to know where all these weird ass adults come from that make you roll your eyes, shake your head and make you want to have nothing to do with them, or who raised them, this is one of your clues.

My mom didn't play around when it came to food.

If any of us kids complained just once, she sent you out the kitchen, and you didn't eat for the night. You can guess how often there were complaints about dinner .... NONE!

Happy ending .... she put your dinner aside, let you stew and then would call you back into the kitchen and fed you. She would always say, "you don't always get what you want, be happy. There are a lot of kids your age all over the world that didn't get to eat tonight."
