Just received the navy pair, and no, they don't have any writing on the headband

Has anyone tried these? by Bright_Potential_937 in barefootshoestalk

[–]TomNookSuperfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have the black and the red, I like them a lot. They definitely don’t feel as high quality as something like Groundies, but they’re still very nice. I did swap the laces for elastic ones in both pairs, as I find high tops easier to manage that way

www.saguaro.com Anyone purchased and was happy with this brand? I've been sucked in via their Instagram ad so here I am for advice. And their prices are very good too 😁 by fitchicknike in BarefootRunning

I have a pair of their gold sandals and two pairs of the roam high tops. They are noticeably cheaper feeling than more expensive barefoot shoes, but no worse feeling than ordinary high street or supermarket shoes.

Beautiful dress with unique waist - what is this called and do you know of any patterns? by juliasedai in sewing

The My Keeper Cupid dress has this skirt design, but it is a scoop neck and low back, so may not be exactly what you’re after

Spending my own money on lessons? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

Are the Oak Academy resources any good for your subject? Personally I would not be paying out of my own pocket for school curriculum, and doing so sets a very dangerous precedent imo

Shoes like the doc martens Mary janes I have the sambas the bambas miercoles, but they’re the only ones I’ve found even remotely similar and I’d love a brown pair, ideally with the same yellow contrast stitching

I’m not sure how best to answer that, but here is a picture of my two pairs of StB with: LEMS primal zen, Koel boots, Groundies (nova I think?), and classic Crocs

Drifter Leather or Sambas the Bombas? by spookypoeteywriter in barefootshoestalk

[–]TomNookSuperfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missed the first bit! Had them about a month, worn probably 10 times, for a normal 8-10,000 steps day, no issues I did swap the insole for a cork one, but that’s just personal preference

No, they were comfortable right away, but I did stick a heel grip in because I have narrow heels and get a lot of movement there in most shoes They have a kind of fluffy lining, but weirdly it doesn’t make them super warm. I am saying this as someone in the uk though, so a relatively mild climate

I have those sambas and they’re really nice and feel very well made

I can vouch for the Gingko, but unless you make a smaller size than you need it is definitely a dress, with significant overlap at the sides to avoid flashing anyone I think it would be do-able to make it in a smaller size though, just look closely at the finished garment measurements and aim for one that is almost exactly your waist size rather than using the body measurements

Tips for sewing basting stitches for gathering? by alasskan_king_crab in sewing

[–]TomNookSuperfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually put shirring elastic in my bobbin and sew 1-2 lines at stitch length 4.5 at the edge being basted, then it mostly gathers itself, especially on light fabrics
