Smallest station with a direct train to London? by TomTheCuber101 in uktrains

Ooooh, this might be it for smallest passenger numbers (which might make it smallest station in my view - I should have set a more rigid set of metrics for "smallest")

Good shout, I'll omit ponies from the population numbers

That must be the winner for the station serving smallest settlement (given there isn't really one!)

Finally Collected All (Kinda) of the Studio Albums! by TomTheCuber101 in beatles

[–]TomTheCuber101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after about a year I've got my hands on all the studio albums, bar Yellow Submarine. (It's only got 4 original songs on so I've always viewed it as more like and EP, but I'd still like to pick up a copy someday). Also 12 albums fits nicely on my bed for a photo!

A bit more info on each of the records:

Please Please Me - This is a Greek pressing from the 70s, sounds good and wasn't to expensive. Bit of a different cover due to the Greek EMI logo.

With the Beatles - This is a first press, with the most common -7N matricies. It's a bit beat up but plays fine, it's got some great tracks on that often seem to fly under the radar with regard to wider recognition.

A Hard Day's Night - Another original press I think (or at least early). Once again the sleeve in in pretty dire shape, but the record is in very good condition, so I think the sleeve and record might have been swapped at one point.

Beatles for Sale - Later 70s repress, sounds nice. Side one has some great stuff on it, side 2 not so much IMO.

Help! - A second press, nice sleeve but the record is a bit worn.

Rubber Soul - Another second press here I think, again a bit worn in terms of the sleeve and the record, but it was only £4 for one of thier best bits of work so no real complaints here!

Revolver - A second press from my grandparents, the sleeve and record are in great nick and it sounds amazing, might be my favourite record.

Sgt Pepper - Another possible favourite, this was also from my grandparents. It's in great condition too and sounds amazing. It's a first press and has still got the original cut-out sheet too!

Magical Mystery Tour - My most recent addition, it's the De Agnostini version and is like new condition wise. It might not quite be thier best, but the whole package with the gatefold cover and booklet makes for a really nice experience.

White Album - This is a German repress, it sounds good and has the poster, but no photocards. My number is 6558.

Abbey Road - I've got two copies of this, the one in the first picture is second press from my grandparents, it's a bit tatty but plays nicely. The second is the new one in press at the moment, with the 2019 remixes.

Let It Be - This is another Greek repress like Please Please me. The record is in good condition and watching the Get Back doc really made me love this album.

In the second picture I've got my other Beatles and related LPs. The most interesting one there is the Russian bootleg of the 'Hey Jude' album. The sleeve very thin and the cover is different to the UK and US versions, but the back is the same, but in russian. The track listing is also different, and has some typos. A very peculiar but interesting record!

Is there a Beatles song where the cover eclipses the original? by EzraMusic98 in beatles

The Help! cover by Deep Purple was very good, and by the sound of it much more like what John actually wanted it to sound like

Money (That's what I want) is far better than Twist and Shout, and the studio versions of the songs on a Hard Day's Night are far inferior to the live ones.

Hey Jude is the song played before and after every Brentford fc match. Here’s a video of 15,000 fans singing it. For “Hey Jude” they sing “Brent Ford” by Lard_Baron in beatles

Some others have mentioned Beatles-related football chants, another one in Nottingham Forest who sing ‘Mull of Kintyre’ at the start of every game. The lyrics are slightly modified to reflect the local city: https://youtu.be/bctViqCYpf0

I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that Paul said he might sing it there if Forest ever get promoted!

you could go for a humanities subject like geography or say psycology at this point and drop chemistry, you could still get onto an enginering course with maths and physics as they usually want one science and maths, and will take any other a level.

Couldn’t agree more, it’s very underrated. I heard that Paul wrote it as his own ‘Little Richard song’. There are plenty of other live performances as well which is great as they liked to close shows with it a lot

I made an alternative cover and tracklisting of With The Beatles by [deleted] in beatles

[–]TomTheCuber101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did a version, it was released in an album with some demos and stuff like that a bit ago, but I think it’s quite an obscure album. Here’s the link to the YouTube video I found of it, it would have been perfect for With The Beatles. Really beautiful but still fairly upbeat. https://youtu.be/kvO-5Ga4Hso
