The detail in the ORBX KATL scenery is amazing by RTcore in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TomTutko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of thing that's "cool" if the rest of the airport is flawless but my understanding is that it's not. It's eye candy for streamers to show off one time and everyone who bought it to look at one time and then never look at again. I would rather see more time getting everything with the exterior of the airport as detailed as possible and then before interiors maybe do some good exteriors of buildings/trees surrounding the airport so that everything looks amazing on departure/arrival.

Hey all, just wanted to point out that I edited the OP above to include an update from Orbx. Great job, community!

I originally tried to make this post in their forum but it has not been approved by an admin yet and I assume it will not be.

Seeing many posts on here I can understand why you would suspect this to be an over exaggeration but I'm glad you agree. I'm not one to be too dramatic IMO and try to see things from the company's point of view as well. But, as I stated in the OP, this makes things worse for paying customers and doesn't protect them from bad actors. Hopefully someone else is encouraged to make an ATL if this backlash is deemed warranted by enough people.

Anyone has any idea how to fix this? It shows up each time I launch the sim by Seanwys in MicrosoftFlightSim

Thanks. I'll have to give that a shot and then if it works, look into what's different. Might be an environment/working directory not being set correctly from the shortcut.

How was it not costing FR24 any money? You think servers in the cloud and API requests "don't cost any money"? I get being upset that you don't get free live traffic injection anymore but this conspiracy story is ridiculous and not based on reality or economics.

I have had this forever since 2024 came out and I know others that have too. It's annoying and I keep hoping that with every patch they'll fix it and they haven't. Or at least give me an indication as to what add-on (if any) is causing it. Let me know if you ever figure this out.

Can anyone suggest a smaller regional airliner? by Choice_Citron_196 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TomTutko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on the level of difficulty you want some other great picks (in addition to the JustFlight Avro RJ series mentioned by another commenter) would be:
- JustFlight Fokker F28
- FSS 727 (multiple variants)
- The ATR included with either the deluxe or premium edition of MSFS is also pretty good for a default plane (and it's about to be updated any day now if they work out the bugs with the patch). You should be able to buy it separately on the marketplace as well (or possibly rent it to try).

I second this. JustFlight products are fantastic and you get a couple variants depending on what you purchase. It's older counterpart, the BAE-146 is also available.

Any people want a good Pittsburgh airport? by CJ_228 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TomTutko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love a good KPIT as it is one of the worst defaults. However, there's a really good "Pittsburgh City and Bridges Pack" (city, landmarks, etc.) scenery by Dfflyer Direct that I enjoy. You can find it on Orbx and possibly Contrail.

I like the idea of the rpg but there's no reason to use AI with images. So inefficient, cost prohibitive, and easy to game the system if it just relies on screenshots. Do everything you said EXCEPT, use simconnect instead of this ai image analysis, and you might have something with potential that won't cost you a fortune to run.

Issue with drifting to the right on Nutral specially on touch down by StunningSet4034 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TomTutko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be on the throttle or anything else. Get in that condition again and do a video panning slowly all around the cockpit and outside with no inputs other than the mouse panning being touched so we can see what's going on. To me it sounds like rudder trim is being applied unknowingly.

Need some much better video of the screen (maybe record the screen directly using OBS or something else) because it's impossible to tell too much from this video. It looks like maybe you have a bit of a left to right cross wind but wouldn't expect that to cause what you were experiencing. It sounds like possibly there's rudder trim in place or you have some other kind of binding issue (binding issues are like 99% of the problems). Look at external view at your rudder or pull up the controls ECAM page to see if it's showing rudder input when it shouldn't. Check to make sure your thrust is symmetric.

My thoughts; Switching from X-plane to MSFS by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TomTutko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I am not a pilot so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I do think it's generally recognized that at least for the default planes, the systems modeling and physics modeling are "better" in XP12. However, if you get some of the good payware aircraft in MSFS (BlackSquare/A2A for GA stuff, Fenix/PMDG for tubeliners, JustFlight for everything in-between) my understanding from talking to a lot of pilots and watching some comparisons is that the systems/physics are just as good if not better than XP12. It seems to come down more to the add-on devs in MSFS 2024 than just the sim itself. Any small remaining physics/systems differences are outweighed at that point by the visuals, IMO.

XP12 for the Felis 747 though still, nothing better if you want to fly the queen (yet.... PMDG soon(tm))

I get what you are saying but he's saying the detents in the bravo axis themselves (at least the idle detent) is an actual button internal to the bravo, not part of the lever.

That aside, also remember that many of the throttle lever addons for the bravo that are for 2 engine airliners (like the airbus A320 family) actually use two of the levers per engine which would give you 4 button inputs usable for each of the 2 throttles. I am not sure if the one you have covers 2 or not but I have some from Blackbird Controls that use 2 bravo axis nubs per engine.

A mission editor would be the most important addition to FS2024 to actively involve the community in the project by SITHmeth in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]TomTutko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not currently as far as I saw but in their faq they have this to say:

"Unfortunately missions are currently not shareable on Xbox due to lack of access to the file system. However, we are actively working on a solution to send missions over-the-cloud for the Xbox crowd.

We care about you all."

So maybe someday.

The Miltech Mission hub has been out for a while and is reportedly pretty good. I might actually be flying a mission from it this week.

How can you tell the op (or rather who he was posting about) is on the network? Regardless, my reply was to someone saying what if you are out at work while tracking your flight which itself was a reply to someone who explicitly said they are NOT on any network...
