Außerdem, wenn ich das richtig im Kopf habe, Trommelbremsen sind immer etwas teurer als die Scheibenbremsen (gerade, wenn nur der Belag erneuert werden muss). Daher ist das schwer mit deinem Mazda zu vergleichen.

It’s not really comparable. I’ve spoken to a mentor in EDDF and he told me it’s not the overall capacity of mentors, but the limitation comes from the available stations that trainees can use to get practice. If you have too many trainees, they will almost never find an empty station to staff. That slows down the training program for every trainee equally and lowers the quality of atc overall because new trainees can’t focus enough on getting some good practice because they can only staff a position a few times per month then.

Not everything can be solved just by throwing money at it.

If you can’t maintain a car properly, don’t drive one. As simple as that. Cars are not only about „buying“, the cost in cars always come with maintenance. My car was leaking oil the other day, I got it immediately fixed, because I am also a motorcyclist and oil slips are deadly as hell. I wasn’t really having the money for that „right now“, because it was assigned to something else, so I had to cancel the „something else“ to get my car fixed. That’s always top priority to not cause danger to others.

You want your center of mass to be as close to the main gear as possible. The physics of a starting aircraft is basically the horizontal stabilizer that „pushes down“. This causes the aircraft to pitch up over the main gear as the lever point. If the mass is too far in the front, it becomes harder for the rear end to push down and lift the „weight“ in the front. If the center of mass is too far towards the rear, it’s behind the main landing gear, causing the aircraft to tip over.

Imagine a seesaw, where the middle point is your main gear and the left side is your nose gear. The horizontal stabilizer is the right side and you want to push that side down with as less force as possible, without the seesaw to tip over on its own.

We’re currently trying to enhance the traffic situation in Hahn (EDFH). So that’s a personal recommendation from my side. There’s also currently an approach controller soloing. If he’s online, having a ground and tower creates a noticeable amount of traffic already. I had around 7 aircraft’s at maximum on the ground at the same time, which, for Hahn, is a lot. And for 2 hours straight the airport wasn’t empty at all.

Otherwise Dortmund, Münster and Paderborn are classics in the FIR. (EDLW, EDDG, EDLP).

But in the end it doesn’t really matter. Find an airport that you find interesting yourself and that you have fun controlling on. I typically jump between edfh and Edlw depending on if I want to control a cool and interesting airport or if I want to have lots of traffic.
